Chapter 74: Gray, No No!
After A Jin took A Huo, Qing Yu, and the others away, Xiao Ju went to call out Yao Yao and accompanied Su Ran to the place where she and Hui discovered the chili fruit.
By now, the chili fruit had grown two sizes larger than when Su Ran first discovered it.
The housheng vegetable nearby also looked a bit thicker in its leaves than before.
But there were no traces of Hui having appeared here.
This made Su Ran a bit discouraged, and she grew even more worried deep down.
She feared that Hui really wouldn’t come back.
Even knowing it was wrong, she couldn’t help but think that if she had accepted Hui earlier, maybe there wouldn’t have been such a misunderstanding.
In the depths of the woods, it wasn’t yet time for nightfall, but the light had gradually dimmed.
Although Xiao Ju and Yao Yao’s combat power wasn’t low, in Su Ran’s eyes, they were still just two girls.
She finally gave up the idea of continuing deeper into the woods and decided to go back first.
Moreover, deep down she faintly held some expectation…
What if Hui had already returned to the bird’s nest?
To save time, on the way back, Su Ran was directly princess-carried by Yao Yao and rushed back to the bird’s nest forest.
When they returned under the bird’s nest tree, the light in the woods had already turned gray and hazy.
As soon as Su Ran’s feet touched the ground, she immediately climbed up the rope ladder.
But just as her foot stepped onto the topmost tree trunk above the rope ladder, the pitch-black bird’s nest entrance shattered her fantasy once again.
Hui hadn’t returned.
Xiao Ju and Yao Yao jumped up behind her.
Sensing Su Ran’s low mood, Xiao Ju came over and rubbed her face, meowing “mi wu mi wu” at her in comfort.
She and Yao Yao stayed with Su Ran until nine o’clock in the evening.
A little after nine, the beastmen that A Jin and Qing Yu and the others had gone out to search with returned one after another from outside.
Outside, A Jin was “roar roar roar”-ing something to Xiao Ju, who kept responding with “mi wu mi wu.”
Su Ran excitedly stood up and ran to the bird’s nest entrance, looking outside.
But after waiting a long time, no beastman came walking over.
Her heart sank!
They hadn’t found Hui.
Hui hadn’t returned!
Suddenly, Su Ran felt completely powerless all over her body.
Even the beastmen hadn’t found Hui—could she find it?
The night in the forest had deepened, and in the silent darkness, she could even hear the sound of river water flowing in the distance.
Xiao Ju and the others had already returned to their own place to rest; they seemed completely unconcerned about Hui’s disappearance.
Even before leaving, Yao Yao had forcibly pulled Su Ran and pressed her onto the animal hide bed, as if making her sleep peacefully.
But Su Ran, whose heart was full of worry for Hui, hadn’t noticed that the beastmen, upon returning, actually seemed much more relaxed than when they had left.
She sat at the bird’s nest entrance, watching the silent late night outside, until she couldn’t fight off the sleepiness and fell asleep.
The next day early in the morning, Su Ran was woken up by someone watching her.
In her daze, she felt a shadow moving beside her; Su Ran jolted awake and suddenly opened her eyes.
When she clearly saw the beastman in front of her, she instead froze there.
The one she had worried about for an afternoon and a whole night was right there before her.
But seeing this guy completely unharmed right in front of her, Su Ran momentarily forgot how to react.
Seeing her open her eyes, Hui’s eyes lit up!
It instinctively wanted to lean close to Su Ran’s face, but then seemed to think of something and suddenly halted its action.
But Su Ran didn’t care about that.
By now, she was fully awake.
She suddenly got up and threw herself into Hui’s embrace, hugging it tightly, but still couldn’t stop pounding its chest and scolding angrily:
“Where did you go? Do you know how worried I was all last night? I thought you weren’t coming back! If you do this again, I’ll really not want you anymore!”
Her excited appearance stunned Hui.
Although Su Ran chattered on with a bunch of words it didn’t understand, the feeling of being hugged tightly and missed was real.
So the next second, Hui also got excited.
As if sensing Su Ran’s emotions, its tail, which had been limp behind it, immediately started wagging vigorously with energy.
Then it suddenly lifted its head with a very wolfish “ao wu~~,” and with one forceful pull, dragged Su Ran down onto the animal hide mat.
What followed was a face-rubbing ceremony that left Su Ran helpless.
She silently endured the werewolf’s excited closeness actions, feeling its enthusiastic licks on her face from time to time, but deep down she felt incredibly reassured.
Sensing Su Ran’s more positive response than before, Hui’s actions suddenly took on more beast-like ferocity and dominance.
At the height of excitement, it even used its four long sharp teeth to gently nibble at the soft flesh on Su Ran’s neck.
That tingling sensation with a hint of pain made Su Ran dazedly sink into the ambiguous atmosphere the werewolf unwittingly created.
Until she felt the abrupt touch from the werewolf’s body, then she suddenly snapped out of her trance.
“Hui?”
Su Ran suddenly pushed away the werewolf’s head still buried in her neck hollow.
And as she pushed it away, its sharp teeth inadvertently scraped lightly across her skin, sending a shiver through her.
The pushed-away Hui didn’t get up, but stared at her intently with a pair of green eyes already slightly bloodshot.
In that instant, Su Ran even felt like in those eyes brimming with aggressive desire, she had already been swallowed whole!
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but shudder all over, quickly propping up her upper body and making a rejecting gesture:
“Hui, no, we can’t, no~”
“Ao wu~”
Perhaps desire had gotten the better of it.
At this moment, facing Su Ran’s rejection, Hui seemed a bit irritable; even its response to her call was no longer the usual coquettish “wu wu~” sound.
Its slightly reddened green eyes stared fixedly at Su Ran, full of confusion at her sudden rejecting action.
“Hui, not yet.”
Su Ran said righteously.
She looked at Hui and gently shook her head, trying hard not to be influenced by the persistence and eagerness in its eyes.
Even to buy time to calm Hui’s emotions, regardless of whether it understood, she started rambling nonsense:
“Hui, we’re developing too fast like this; it’s not right.”
“Even if you’re a boy, you have to learn to be reserved. If you’re too forward, your mom and dad will spank you~”
The werewolf didn’t understand the long string of words Su Ran said afterward.
But it successfully had its attention diverted.
Its reddened eyes gradually returned to their original green.
Listening to Su Ran finish that long string of words, it impatiently swished its tail behind it, and the desire in its eyes, intense enough to lose reason, had dissipated quite a bit.
