Chapter 106: Which Side Are You Really On?
After Anse obtained True Dragon Power, he became increasingly familiar with Dragonkin.
He heard anger and hatred in this dragon roar, emotions that were unusual.
‘Something’s wrong.’
He was the first to run out of the Villa, scanned around but couldn’t see the Dragon’s figure, immediately flapped Butterfly Wings to fly onto the roof, crouched in the shadows, and gazed toward the east.
In the sky above the Wilderness, a Dragon was circling low, its Flight movements very strange, sometimes high and sometimes low.
‘Adult Green Dragon!’ He widened his eyes, ‘Could it be that female Offspring I saw before?’
Different Dragons have varying forms; even without seeing the color, they can be distinguished by Size and Posture.
“Roar—”
Another dragon roar came, the voice filled with pain.
As soon as the sound fell, the Dragon plunged down, crashing into the Kobold Crowd, startling countless barks.
Anse was stunned; he seemed to see a humanoid Creature on the Dragon’s back.
“A Big Shot?”
He quickly landed in the Courtyard, took out the Scepter of Sanctuary to summon Nolnos, and mounted it.
Tim saw this and anxiously asked, “What happened?”
“Someone is fighting the Adult Green Dragon. I’m going to check it out. You all prepare for Combat or retreat.” Anse instructed.
Tim’s expression tightened: “Got it. Be careful.”
When two powerhouses clash, one must be injured; the victor likely has the ability to change the tide of battle.
The Adult Green Dragon’s Challenge Rating is 15, not Legendary, but it possesses Legendary abilities. To deal with it, at least a Level 17 or higher Quasi-Legendary Professional is needed.
If such a Monster goes berserk, there’s probably no one in Blue Water City who can stop it.
The city was a bit chaotic, but there weren’t many people on the Streets. Nolnos strode forward, heading east along the main road.
Chaos reigned at the east gate. Before Anse got close, he saw the Vanguard and City-State Guards running down the City Wall in panic.
‘Retreating without a fight?’
Just as he felt Doubt, a loud boom sounded, the City Gate collapsed, and even a section of the City Wall crumbled. Guards who ran too slowly were crushed underneath.
The people around were all scared silly, stunned for a moment before frantically fleeing in all directions.
“Boom—”
Shattered Rocks exploded, revealing a massive green Dragon Head.
It forcefully shook off the Rocks from its body, propped its legs on the debris, spread a pair of enormous Dragon Wings, and assumed a relaxed Posture.
It was so huge that the hooks on its wings were thicker than a Man, and under its Shadow, the four-to-five-meter-high City Wall seemed so small, crumbling effortlessly like toys when pressed.
The Green Dragon pushed off with its legs and flapped its wings to take off, but unexpectedly, a Shadow Figure flew from the Darkness, smashing heavily onto its back.
“Ao—”
The Green Dragon turned and swatted, its slender Dragon Tail sweeping away countless Rocks, which smashed into the City Wall or ground with cannon-like force.
‘There really is a Big Shot!’
Anse’s heart raced; he hurriedly hid in a distant alley, then climbed onto a roof to watch the battle.
The sky was dim, hard to see clearly, but the Dragon’s Combat was too intense; wherever it went, Buildings collapsed, and almost no structure could withstand its impacts or Tail sweeps.
It tried to fly up several times, succeeding once, but was always knocked down by that Professional.
The city was in total chaos, with cries, screams, and wails everywhere, Shadow Figures fleeing in panic all over.
The Green Dragon did it on purpose, trying to make its opponent hesitate, but the Professional showed no mercy, just trying his best to keep the Battlefield on the main Street.
‘So strong.’
Anse watched with blood boiling, wanting to join in, but he was just a Level 6 Professional who couldn’t even withstand a Breath; going up would just cause trouble.
If he angered the Big Shot and got beaten too, that would be ridiculous.
But the City Wall was breached, in an unexpected way!
Anse was a bit worried that the Kobolds would take the chance to attack, but then he realized he was overthinking it.
Gazing into the distance, corpses littered the area outside the city, with a mass of dark green mist drifting and spreading; anyone it touched collapsed, anything it stuck to fell, and almost all the still-moving Kobolds had fled.
‘This… killing eight hundred enemies at the cost of a thousand of your own.’
At this moment, he faintly heard whistling sounds in the night sky.
Looking up, Wyverns streaked over Blue Water City, circling the Battlefield, seemingly wanting to support their Green Dragon master.
Anse carefully counted, his face darkening: “Seven!”
This was just the quantity of the Wyvern Guard, not counting possible Half-Dragon Knights.
The Green Dragon had strong reinforcements, while on the human side, they ran faster than each other; even the elite Vanguard didn’t dare approach.
‘Wait, there really are reinforcements.’
Just after Anse complained, he turned and saw Shadow Figures quietly approaching the Battlefield, their blue Robes very conspicuous.
‘Blue Flame Cult? Aren’t they a cult?’
He immediately realized that the Blue Flame Cult wasn’t driven by a sense of justice; it was probably greed—they had their eyes on that Green Dragon.
The Curse Scar ritual requires Sorcerer blood, but what Sorcerer blood could compare to Dragon Blood?
And those people’s actions confirmed his Idea; they were actually collecting Dragon Blood with bottles and jars wherever the Green Dragon passed, acting like they valued money over life!
But no one paid them any mind.
The battle continued, moving from the east of the city along the main Street toward the bay on the west side.
Those Wyverns finally couldn’t hold back and began diving to attack the human Professional.
The Big Shot was still engaging the Green Dragon, seemingly unconcerned, but struck swiftly when the Wyverns got close.
“Whoosh whoosh—”
The shrill whistle just reached Anse’s ears when he saw two Wyverns freeze, their wings drooping limply, crashing diagonally into the city one after another.
Fragile!
But this bought the Green Dragon a little time; it didn’t fly, instead charging madly along the main Street, smashing through the City Gate straight toward the Bay.
The Professional chased furiously from behind, faster than the Green Dragon, his shiny bald head very eye-catching.
‘The Big Shot’s Status doesn’t seem good.’
Anse had sharp eyes and, by the city lights, clearly saw the Man’s armor in tatters, his body bathed in blood.
He thought for a moment, then rode after them, but didn’t dare get too close.
The Green Dragon plunged into the water like a giant serpent; the bald Man pursued relentlessly, fighting fiercely in the water with splashes everywhere.
Facing the Green Dragon skilled in water Combat, the bald Man didn’t seem to be at a disadvantage.
The Green Dragon opened its mouth for Breath; the Man endured the Poison, leaped onto the Dragon Head, hugged it from behind, and forcibly twisted, sending the potent Poison Breath flailing everywhere, sweeping over incoming Wyverns, Merfolk, and the Sea Surface, turning the air and seawater green.
A Wyvern crashed headfirst into the water; the Merfolk were worse, floating up in patches belly-up, skin turned green, looking like they wouldn’t survive.
Neither Combatant paid attention to these; seeing the bald Man Poisoned, the Green Dragon released a massive Poison mist centered on itself.
Whether this toxic smog affected the bald Man was uncertain, but it definitely worked on the Merfolk; the seawater that had slightly cleared turned green again, and slow Merfolk dropped dead on the spot.
Anse watched from afar, Feeling a Bad Omen.
The Green Dragon’s Vitality was strong; despite losing so much blood, it was still lively.
On the other hand, the bald Professional’s Status wasn’t good; his skin had turned bluish earlier, quite eerie.
‘The Big Shot isn’t about to die, is he?’
He turned to gaze; the situation in the city was dire, everyone running toward the inland east.
The Dragon had come, the city breached, and human courage lost with it.
There was Antak City south of Blue Water City, but it couldn’t hold so many people; fleeing became the first choice for many.
No one mocked them, just as no one could keep a normal mind after seeing the Dragon.
‘This all happened so suddenly.’
He had thought tonight would be a city defense battle, but it turned into this.
The good news was that human Strength suffered minimal damage; the Green Dragon’s side was hit hardest, with unknown losses among Kobolds, Merfolk, Wyverns, and Half-Dragons.
