Chapter 2: Young Master Ling
Xu Jingyun seized the opportunity to break free from the restraint, rolled to the side, clutching her neck and gasping for breath, while kicking Xia Chenge and viciously saying, “Mom, hurry, choke her to death!”
Suffocation washed over her, and Xia Chenge felt as if her lungs were about to explode.
She didn’t struggle with all her might, but painstakingly reached out to touch the instrument by the bedside and pushed it with all her strength.
Bang!
The instrument fell to the ground with a loud crash, alarming the doctors and nurses nearby. Hurried footsteps gradually approached.
Her body trembled, and Xia Minglan subconsciously loosened her grip.
Xia Chenge glanced at her sideways, a slight smirk on her lips, “Act the part better, or you won’t look like the victim.”
Xia Minglan was stunned by that cold and wicked gaze, momentarily forgetting to react.
Just then, the hospital room door was violently pushed open, and a group of doctors and nurses stood outside.
Seeing this, Xu Jingyun feigned terror and screamed, “Xia Chenge has gone mad, she wants to kill me! Quick, quick, grab her!”
The medical staff looked at her subtly and did not administer a sedative to Xia Chenge as she had expected.
Realizing the situation was not right, Xia Minglan tugged at her daughter’s sleeve and gave her a meaningful look.
Only then did Xu Jingyun belatedly look at Xia Chenge.
Xia Chenge was seen with a face full of terror, one hand on her neck, where faint bruises were visible, and the other supporting herself on the bed, trying to stand up. However, she was too weak and slid to the floor.
The medical staff quickly stepped forward.
“Please, save me, I don’t want to die, I’m only sixteen…” Xia Chenge grabbed the doctor’s hand, her tear-filled eyes appearing helpless and desperate.
Immediately after, she looked at Xia Minglan beside her, trembling in fear, “Aunt, I’ll be obedient from now on. Even if I don’t get enough to eat, have to work every day, and am abused, I won’t resist anymore. Please don’t kill me…”
Upon hearing this, Xu Jingyun shrieked in exasperation, “Xia Chenge, you have no shame! You were the one who wanted to kill me! Look at my neck, everyone, look.”
Saying this, Xu Jingyun stretched out her neck, pointing to where Xia Chenge had choked her.
Everyone’s expressions became even more peculiar.
Seeing her daughter’s smooth and unblemished neck, Xia Minglan’s face changed drastically, and she sternly reprimanded, “Enough! Xiao Ge’s mental state is not good, which is why she’s talking nonsense and smashing things. You are the elder sister, you should naturally indulge her. How can you be so petty?”
Without evidence of Xia Chenge making a move, any further accusations would only make her daughter seem narrow-minded.
If her reputation was ruined, it would be difficult to marry into a wealthy family in the future, so she had to let her endure some grievances for now.
“Mom, you’re scolding me?” Xu Jingyun whispered in disbelief, her heart filled with resentment.
Xia Minglan’s face was stern, her tone even more severe, “You and Xiao Ge are both my children. Whoever does wrong will be scolded. I have always been fair. I know you are usually sensible and always tolerate Xiao Ge. You were just scared just now, which is why you lost your composure. But what’s done is done.”
What a deeply scheming aunt, with just a few words she turned all her accusations into nonsense, and conveniently threw a bucket of dirty water on her, whitewashing herself and Xu Jingyun. No wonder the original owner was bullied to the point of losing her life.
With a cold laugh in her heart, Xia Chenge looked at her timidly, then raised her head, clearly displaying the choke marks on her neck to everyone, and asked in terror:
“But Aunt, you just choked my neck with your hand and loudly told me to die… and my cousin was kicking me and cheering you on… Is this because I didn’t listen and was put in the dark room and hospitalized that you’re punishing me?”
Everyone turned to look at Xia Minglan in unison, their faces filled with disbelief and condemnation.
“You child, as soon as you woke up, you pulled off the oxygen mask and started smashing things and talking nonsense. Auntie knows you hit your head and your consciousness is a bit confused, which is why you thought someone wanted to kill you.”
“Auntie was afraid you would hurt yourself, so I held you back on the bed. Who knew that before I could call a doctor, you grabbed Auntie’s hand and forced it onto your neck, nearly scaring Auntie to death, do you know?”
“You lost your parents at a young age and your mental state is not good. If anything happens, how can I explain it to your deceased parents…”
Xia Minglan choked, covering her mouth, seemingly unable to continue.
Xia Chenge was known as an idiot in Haicheng. With Xia Minglan saying this, she successfully dispelled everyone’s doubts and instead evoked sympathy for Xia Minglan and her daughter.
It must be so hard for them to take care of such an idiot who has both autism and paranoia.
Seeing everyone’s expressions, a cold smile flashed in Xia Minglan’s eyes. Did Xia Chenge really think she could compete with her?
“It’s my fault, it’s my fault. I wanted to help Xiao Ge lie down properly, and she insulted me in various ways. I was so angry that I spoke carelessly,” Xu Jingyun said, her attitude completely changed, her face full of self-reproach.
Xia Chenge watched the mother and daughter’s act with cold eyes, remaining silent.
“Doctor, for safety’s sake, it’s best to give her a sedative. I’m worried she might suddenly go berserk and hurt someone,” Xia Minglan said to the doctor with deep concern.
Although this was the Ling family’s hospital, no one was willing to offend the rising Xu family for the sake of a fallen Young Lady.
So the doctor picked up the syringe and was about to administer the sedative.
Her eyes turned cold, and just as Xia Chenge was about to retaliate, the onlookers at the door suddenly gasped and spontaneously cleared a path.
An arrogant and exceptionally handsome young man walked in with a cold demeanor, as if he were a born king, exuding nobility in every gesture.
He glanced around indifferently, his voice, with the unique coolness of youth, was very pleasant to hear, “What’s so exciting to see? Everyone’s gathered over here?”
Ling Hanmu!
The heir of Country A’s number one prestigious family, the Ling family, and the crown prince of the commercial giant Tiansheng Group!
Xu Jingyun quickly tidied her clothes and hair, a hint of shy blush appearing on her face, and said softly, “Young Master Ling, I’m sorry. My cousin suddenly went mad and disturbed everyone. I’m truly sorry.”
“Who do you think you are? Did this Young Master ask you?” Ling Hanmu glanced at her sideways and said arrogantly.
His demeanor and tone were almost identical to Xia Chenge’s when she first woke up.
The color drained from Xu Jingyun’s face, leaving it ashen as paper.
“Young Master Ling, we will handle it immediately!” the doctor replied tremblingly, not daring to act without Ling Hanmu’s command.
Ling Hanmu walked up to Xia Chenge, looked her up and down, and asked seriously, “They all say you’ve gone mad. Are you mad?”
“No,” Xia Chenge shook her head.
“Incompetent doctors!” Ling Hanmu unleashed a barrage of scolding, “Is the reputation of my family’s Rende Hospital being ruined by you people? Just because someone who knows nothing says she’s mad, she’s mad? Then if she told you to die, would you have to die?”
At this point, it was Xia Minglan’s turn to tremble all over, her legs going weak.
“We apologize, Young Master Ling, it was our mistake. We will arrange a mental evaluation for Miss Xia immediately.”
“Scram!” Ling Hanmu shouted coldly, then paused, pointing at Xia Minglan and her daughter, and sneered, “Failed to kill and then bit back, truly qualified vicious dogs.”
