Chapter Eleven: A Fated Encounter
Upon arriving at the Third Military Hospital, Qing Tian and Xia Yang encountered Ji Xiangyu.
Qing Tian looked at Ji Xiangyu in surprise, noticing his hand was in a thick plaster cast. A girl was supporting him, and she seemed to know Xia Yang. Upon seeing Xia Yang, she greeted him enthusiastically, “Brother Xia, what are you doing here!”
Xia Yang responded with no particular expression, “Accompanying my girlfriend to see her grandfather!”
This mention of “girlfriend” startled not only Qing Tian but also Ji Xiangyu, who both cast questioning glances at Xia Yang.
Qing Tian dared not look at Ji Xiangyu, nor did she offer an explanation. At this moment, her only concern was her grandfather’s illness!
She hastily said, “I’m sorry, I must take my leave!”
She didn’t know how it happened, but she accidentally bumped into his injured hand. Qing Tian was filled with remorse. She looked at Ji Xiangyu with a hint of sadness in her eyes, wanting to apologize, but the words caught in her throat and she swallowed them back.
Ji Xiangyu smiled faintly, “Are you alright?”
Qing Tian felt her hand being held by a pair of warm palms. She looked down at his long, slender fingers holding hers, sighed inwardly, and looked at Ji Xiangyu with complex emotions.
She cried out internally: Please don’t get so close, I’m afraid I won’t be able to control my feelings in the next second!
Qing Tian slowly but resolutely pushed Ji Xiangyu’s hand away and said softly, “I’m sorry!”
I’m sorry, I love you!
Ji Xiangyu saw the hesitation in Qing Tian’s eyes but failed to see the turmoil in her heart.
Ji Xiangyu watched as Qing Tian disappeared from his sight.
Xia Yang licked his upper and lower lips with his tongue, then silently followed Qing Tian.
Beside Ji Xiangyu was his cousin sister, Ji Weiwei, whom he had grown up with. Ji Xiangyu was the only child in his family and had been raised with his uncle’s daughter, Ji Weiwei.
Often, other girls would mistake Ji Weiwei for Ji Xiangyu’s girlfriend.
As his cousin sister, Ji Weiwei naturally felt obligated to shield her cousin brother from all unnecessary romantic attention.
Ji Weiwei had always been a thoughtful and considerate girl. She understood her cousin brother’s feelings and tentatively asked, “Isn’t that Senior Student Qing Tian? Brother Yu knows her too!”
Ji Xiangyu smiled at his cousin sister and reassured her, “Yes, we’re from the same school, of course, I know her.”
Ji Weiwei pouted and asked disbelievingly, “Brother Xia seems very familiar with her.”
Upon hearing Xia Yang’s name in relation to Qing Tian, Ji Xiangyu’s expression darkened. He muttered to himself, “Perhaps!”
Ji Weiwei knew she had touched upon Ji Xiangyu’s weakness and didn’t press further.
Just as they were about to leave, they saw Huzi and Song Shishi getting out of a car. Ji Weiwei and Song Shishi were in the same class. One was a good student, and the other was the dreaded savage girl of the class.
Though these two individuals seemed to have nothing in common, Song Shishi had stolen Ji Weiwei’s first love boyfriend. Consequently, the esteemed good student, Miss Ji, had never thought highly of Song Shishi, a girl with average grades, a modest background, and questionable behavior.
The ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend met with intense animosity. Song Shishi’s mind was on her grandfather, and she completely ignored Ji Weiwei, walking past her.
Huzi and Ji Weiwei had grown up in the same large courtyard. Seeing Ji Weiwei, he couldn’t pretend not to notice.
So, in front of Ji Xiangyu, he reached out and hugged Ji Weiwei, saying, “Yo, isn’t this Weiwei? What are you doing at the hospital?”
Ji Weiwei recoiled from Huzi’s embrace with disgust. She hid beside Ji Xiangyu and said, “Don’t call me Weiwei, Weiwei. We’re not close!”
Huzi chuckled awkwardly, “You’ve got guts!”
Song Shishi, looking displeased, urged, “Are you coming or not?”
After saying that, she glanced at Ji Weiwei and left without looking back.
Ji Weiwei was furious. It was one thing that Song Shishi didn’t care about Li Minghao, but to be with another man in front of her, was she really not cherishing Li Minghao?
What angered her wasn’t Song Shishi’s lack of appreciation, but rather that Li Minghao would reject someone who loved him so dearly, only to pursue Song Shishi.
Song Shishi was notoriously flirtatious and promiscuous!
