Chapter 124: Dispute
Andrei was handling documents in his office when the driver knocked and entered. Andrei stopped writing and leaned back in his chair, asking lazily, “How is it?”
The driver shook his head with a grim expression. “The Board of Directors has given the Chairman three months. If he can’t achieve the ideal performance within these three months, the Board will remove him from his position!”
Andrei interlaced his fingers under his chin, appearing to be in deep thought. “What’s Situ Haonan’s attitude?”
The driver continued to report, “That old fox is secretly restraining those directors, while openly trying to win over the Chairman. In my opinion, he wants to seize control in the end!”
Andrei’s gaze turned sharp as he looked into the distance, a smile curling on his lips. “Then let’s put on a show of the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. Let’s see how that old fox ends up!”
The driver also smiled wickedly, but said with worry, “Miss Qing seems to care a lot about the Chairman. This time, the Board of Directors, also…”
Upon hearing about Athena, Andrei’s eyes became piercing as he looked at the driver. “Speak your mind!”
The driver could only obey. “Miss Qing, she went to the Board of Directors today. She even argued with the directors for the Chairman’s sake and was almost dismissed!”
Andrei frowned, a sense of worry creeping in. “It would be better if she were dismissed. She shouldn’t have been brought here! Bruce, keep a close eye on Miss Qing’s movements. I fear the people here have ill intentions towards her. Keep her safe at all times. You can go now if there’s nothing else!”
After Bruce left, Andrei sat at his desk, his brow furrowed in thought.
The internal phone line was connected, and the secretary’s gentle voice rang out, “General Manager, Miss Situ she~~~~~~~~”
Before the secretary could finish speaking, the door to Andrei’s office was forcefully flung open. Andrei watched Situ Jingyi walk towards him, a playful smile on his lips, and asked, “I wonder what brings Miss Situ here so abruptly?”
The secretary stood at the doorway, looking troubled. “General Manager, I~~~~~”
Andrei waved his hand. “It’s fine, you can go out now!”
Situ Jingyi gazed at Andrei, trying to discern something from his eyes. They stared at each other for a moment, Andrei simply smiling, saying nothing.
Situ Jingyi finally couldn’t hold back, relaxed, and sat on the nearby sofa, saying in a displeased tone, “Doesn’t General Manager An owe me an explanation for yesterday’s accident?”
Andrei sat back on the sofa, crossing his legs, and looked at Situ Jingyi with amusement. “I truly don’t know why I would need to explain yesterday’s accident to Miss Situ. Aren’t you an internal employee, Miss Situ?”
Situ Jingyi glared fiercely at Andrei. “Andrei, don’t be so arrogant. You can walk in, and I can make you crawl out. You’ve seen my abilities before, haven’t you?”
Andrei raised an eyebrow, his smile unwavering as he looked at Situ Jingyi and said fiercely, “Before? I’m sorry, Miss Situ, but this is truly the first time I’ve witnessed the prowess of you, this gentle beauty. It perfectly corresponds to an old Chinese saying: ‘outwardly beautiful, inwardly wicked’! Am I wrong?”
Situ Jingyi trembled with anger at Andrei’s words. This Andrei was too much, truly infuriating. She pointed at Andrei and threatened, “Keep pretending for now. Sooner or later, I’ll make you and that dead woman understand what happens when you don’t listen to me. You’d best watch yourself!”
With that, she left in a flurry, just as before. Andrei watched Situ Jingyi’s retreating back, lost in thought. He would absolutely not let Qing Tian be harmed again. He absolutely would not!
He returned to his desk and pulled open a drawer, looking at the pistol lying inside. He remembered that year, the moment they were hit by a car, a man holding this pistol and firing at him. Qing Tian took that shot for him. He would never forget that scene. If it weren’t for Qing Tian, he might have died in a foreign land and wouldn’t be back to seek revenge like this.
The opponent wasn’t Situ Jingyi; he was certain of that. Because when the killer thought they had killed them, they made a phone call and mentioned the name “Rose.” Situ Jingyi wasn’t called Rose. There was only one woman here who would be the killer. Although not entirely certain, he would find the evidence and let that cruel woman know that he, Xia Yang, was not to be trifled with. He would not let go of those who harmed him.
He locked the drawer and then walked out of the office with his documents.
As soon as he stepped outside, he saw Athena. He jogged over to her and asked, “Are you alright? Why are you at the hotel? You should be resting at home!”
Caught red-handed, Athena stuck out her tongue guiltily and said, “Don’t be angry, I’ll go back right away!”
Andrei looked at Athena with indulgence. Sometimes, he really couldn’t do anything about her!
Ji Xiangyu stood nearby, watching these two people with an unusual connection. He clenched his fists and asked with a feigned relaxed expression, “The General Manager seems very concerned about his assistant!”
Andrei then noticed Ji Xiangyu’s presence. He turned his head and looked at Ji Xiangyu with suppressed emotion, saying, “I hope the Chairman stays away from my assistant. Don’t provoke her!” The words were spoken very softly, but enough for Ji Xiangyu to understand.
Ji Xiangyu chuckled lightly. “On what grounds? I’ll go ahead and do it anyway. Can’t I?”
Andrei angrily grabbed Ji Xiangyu by the collar and said furiously, “This is your final warning. Stay away from her!”
Ji Xiangyu forcefully shook off Andrei’s grip and also warned, “This is my final warning to you as well. This is my hotel. I don’t need your instructions for what I do!”
Both men looked at each other with bloodthirsty eyes.
Athena looked at the two people in conflict with distress, unsure who to try and persuade. She stood frozen on the side, caught in a dilemma.
