Li Mei felt it was necessary to tell Ji Xiangyu the secret she had hidden for over twenty years. He was her biological son, and he would surely forgive her for what she had done in the past.
She sat on the sofa, poured herself a glass of water, and took a slow sip. “Xiao Yu, I did all of this for you!”
Another “all for you.” How many more “for you”s would there be!
Ji Xiangyu frowned, waiting for Li Mei to continue. “Besides you, Xia Yang is the only one in the Ji family who can inherit the family fortune. I don’t want all of this to fall into the hands of outsiders. The reason I went all out against Xia Yang was simply to pave a smooth path for you. Man proposes, but heaven disposes. I never expected this illegitimate child to be so resilient, to have escaped death and to be standing strong in the hotel now.”
Another selfish woman, but as Ji Xiangyu’s mother, her actions were purely instinctive, the instinct to protect her child!
Li Mei took another sip of water. “Xiao Yu, I hope you can get along well with the Situ family, instead of going against them. All of this is for your own good. Your Uncle Situ is only looking out for you, and Jingyi did those things because she loves you too much. You should try to understand!”
Ji Xiangyu roared with a cold laugh, “Then who will understand me? How can you assume all of this is for my own good? Situ Haonan is plotting to bring down the hotel. Mother, how can you expect me to trust him? Should I wait for him to buy the hotel and then help him count the money?”
Li Mei said with a smile, “Xiao Yu, you’ve misunderstood. Your Uncle Situ is doing this entirely for you. How could he possibly harm his own child?”
Ji Xiangyu didn’t pay much attention at first. Noticing she had misspoke, Li Mei immediately covered her mouth and corrected herself. “Your Uncle Situ likes you very much and treats you as his own. He even plans for you and Jingyi to get married. He completely considers you family. Anything between you two is just a misunderstanding!”
Ji Xiangyu couldn’t believe that his mother had sided with Situ Haonan. He hadn’t realized it, but Li Mei had always liked Situ Jingyi, and Situ Haonan had a good relationship with his mother. On the other hand, his father was busy with music and rarely spent time with his mother, only reuniting properly during joint performances.
A bold guess formed in Ji Xiangyu’s mind, but he quickly dismissed it. It was absolutely impossible. How could his mother be involved with Uncle Situ? It was impossible!
Ji Xiangyu said worriedly, “Mother, please stop talking. I will not join an army that wants to destroy the hotel. I want to see who wins, me or Uncle Situ!”
Seeing that she couldn’t persuade her son, Li Mei gave up. She then asked with concern, “Xiao Yu, how have you been lately when you’re out? You rarely come home. You don’t even let your mother visit you. You’ve really lost a lot of weight!”
Ji Xiangyu’s facial muscles softened. In front of his mother, he was still just a child. “It’s nothing. It’s been hot lately, so I’ve been sweating a lot, and I’ve been working out frequently, so I’ve lost a little weight!”

Li Mei walked into the study room, took out a document, and handed it to Ji Xiangyu. “Xiao Yu, take these. It’s all I can do. These are the shares my husband and I have in Ji’s Enterprise. Ji Xiangyu pushed it back. “Mother, please keep these documents. I don’t need them. Besides, there are no major issues with the hotel right now. If I really need them, I’ll come to you.”
Li Mei insisted that Ji Xiangyu take the transfer letter. “Sign it quickly. If your father changes his mind one day and gives it to that illegitimate child, Xia Yang, I’ll really be so angry I could spit blood!”
Li Mei was filled with hatred for Xia Yang. For years, ever since their marriage, Ji Junhua had never loved her. He had found other women behind her back, even fathering an illegitimate child, which brought her shame and made her feel inferior. She vowed to make that mother and son pay!
