Chapter 224: A Talk with Grandfather Ji
When Andrei and Grandfather Ji arrived at the hospital, Ji Xiangyu was standing guard outside the intensive care unit. Grandfather Ji leaned on his cane, looking at Qing Tian through the transparent glass.
He said with a heavy heart, “Qing Tian, this child has had such a difficult journey, suffering so much! Our Ji Family owes her!”
Xia Yang supported the elderly Grandfather Ji and said comfortingly, “Grandfather, please don’t blame yourself too much. Qing Tian will be alright!”
Ji Xiangyu stood up, his body weary, and walked to Andrei and Grandfather Ji’s side. His eyes were sunken, and he looked utterly exhausted, yet he still had to hold on until Qing Tian woke up. He sighed and said, “Grandfather, I have something to tell you!”
Grandfather Ji looked at Ji Xiangyu with concern, grasped his hand, and said solicitously, “Xiao Yu, you’re tired. Why don’t you get some rest first? We can talk properly when you wake up, okay?”
Ji Xiangyu shook his head. “No, this matter is very important to me. I must get to the bottom of it!”
He then turned to Andrei. “Yang Yang, Qing Tian may have remembered everything from the past. Can I ask you to watch over Qing Tian for a moment? I need to speak with Grandfather.”
Andrei nodded. Grandfather Ji, however, urged again, “Xiao Yu, whatever important matter it is, we can discuss it later. You’re tired!”
Looking at the exhausted Ji Xiangyu, Grandfather Ji’s heart ached!
But ultimately, he couldn’t overcome Ji Xiangyu’s persistence. He knew this child best; he had to get to the bottom of everything, and he wouldn’t rest until he did!
He turned to Andrei and said, “Yang Yang, Xiao Yu and I will be out for a bit. You watch Qing Tian. I’m worried Situ Haonan might resort to some other methods!”
Andrei nodded. Grandfather Ji’s reminder also made Ji Xiangyu worry about Qing Tian!
However, he wouldn’t take too long. Ji Xiangyu and Grandfather Ji went to the parking lot.
Silence hung heavy for a long time at first. Finally, Ji Xiangyu spoke, “Grandfather, about my mother, did you know all along?!”
Without the initial excitement, Ji Xiangyu was now incredibly calm. He just wanted a truthful answer.
Grandfather Ji sighed, unsure how many times today. He gave Ji Xiangyu a meaningful look before turning to gaze out the window. “Xiao Yu, I think it would be more appropriate for your mother to tell you these things. After all, what I say can’t explain everything, and your mother must have a lot she wants to tell you.”
Ji Xiangyu looked wistfully at the window beside him, his gaze unfocused. “Is she, really my mother?!”
What kind of mother would harm her own child, and so severely?
Grandfather Ji suddenly chuckled, then looked at Ji Xiangyu with a relaxed expression. “There’s no doubt about that. I watched your mother carry you for ten months and give birth to you. I can answer that with certainty!”
Ji Xiangyu gave a cold, self-mocking laugh. “She could attack her own son. What is my mother’s relationship with the Situ Family?”
Grandfather Ji handed Ji Xiangyu a document containing detailed information about Li Mei.
He took a deep breath. He hadn’t expected Li Mei to have such a connection with the Situ Family. Situ Haonan had always wanted him to be the Situ Family’s son-in-law. Considering the current situation, he and Situ Jingyi were cousins with close blood ties. Thinking back to those words now, how ironic they were.
