Chapter 61: Grandfather Ji’s Questioning
Chapter Sixty-One: Grandfather Ji’s Questioning
As she was leaving, Grandfather Ji called out to Qing Tian, who had already walked away.
Grandfather Ji called out to Qing Tian in a gentle and kind voice, “Qing Tian, it’s still early, would you like to come to Grandpa’s house and play for a while?”
Qing Tian heard Grandfather Ji’s invitation and froze in place. She couldn’t quite believe that Grandfather Ji would actually invite her to the Ji Family Home as a guest.
She hesitated for a moment. Grandfather Ji smiled and continued, “In a few days, Grandpa is going to attend an international exhibition. It would be perfect if you could come and help Grandpa take a look!”
Qing Tian no longer refused and got into the car with Grandfather Ji.
Grandfather Ji’s car was a conservative and mature black Mercedes-Benz, both grand and stylish.
Grandfather Ji’s personal driver politely opened the car door for Qing Tian and then smiled slightly, “Miss Qing, be careful not to bump your head!”
Qing Tian also smiled gently at the driver. For some reason, Grandfather Ji and this old driver felt so approachable and kind.
Ji Xiangyu and Grandfather Ji had very similar personalities; both were gentle and elegant gentlemen.
Sitting in the car, Grandfather Ji casually asked, “Qing Tian, who do you think is better, Xiao Yu or Yang Yang?”
Qing Tian was caught off guard by the question. Xia Yang and Ji Xiangyu were completely different people, with no basis for comparison. They each had their own strengths.
She looked at Grandfather Ji’s smiling eyes and shyly replied, “Xia Yang, he is very loyal and righteous, and he values emotions. He has helped me a lot, and I treat him like a brother. As for Ji Xiangyu, his conditions are excellent in all aspects, so good that you can’t find any flaws. But honestly, if I had to choose who is better between the two, I couldn’t say, because in my eyes, they are simply incomparable!”
Grandfather Ji listened and chuckled, “It seems that in our Qing Tian’s heart, they both have their own merits!”
Qing Tian smiled and nodded.
Grandfather Ji agreed, saying, “I also believe they both have their own good points. It’s rare that our opinions align, Qing Tian, you are becoming more and more likable to Grandpa!”
Qing Tian felt a little embarrassed by Grandfather Ji’s words and sheepishly touched her head and smiled.
As the car drove into the Ji Family Home, Ji Weiwei had just gotten out of her pick-up car, but Ji Xiangyu was nowhere to be seen.
Ji Weiwei stood aside waiting for Grandfather Ji to get out of the car. When she saw Qing Tian getting out of Grandfather Ji’s car, she asked in surprise, “Qing Tian, why are you in Grandpa’s car?”
Grandfather Ji happened to hear this and chuckled, “Weiwei, where is Xiao Yu? Why didn’t he come back with you?”
Ji Weiwei temporarily let Qing Tian off the hook and went forward to hold Grandfather Ji’s arm, acting spoiled, “Brother Yu is already in his room, but why is Senior Sister Qing here at our house?”
Grandfather Ji then explained, “I invited Qing Tian to our house as a guest. Don’t you dare cause trouble!”
Ji Weiwei smiled very falsely, “How would I dare cause trouble for someone Grandpa invited!”
After speaking, she thought to herself: If I don’t cause trouble, I’m not Ji Weiwei.
When Qing Tian heard Ji Weiwei call her Senior Sister, she almost stumbled. Ji Weiwei’s image as a good girl was all an act; she had more schemes in her heart than anyone else.
Qing Tian walked behind them with a heavy mood. As soon as they entered the living room, a middle-aged woman, the nanny, greeted them and said, “Master, you have a guest!”
Grandfather Ji led Qing Tian into the living room and said, “Nanny, make some delicious food tonight. Qing Tian is a distinguished guest!”
Qing Tian smiled, while Ji Weiwei rolled her eyes dramatically.
Under Ji Weiwei’s glare, Qing Tian followed Grandfather Ji upstairs.
Qing Tian gained a new understanding of the Ji Family Home this time. This Ji Family Home was truly vast, and the main building was even more so, grand like a castle.
The crystal chandelier likely extended from the fourth floor all the way down to the second floor. If you didn’t look closely, you might mistake it for a high-end hotel.
When Qing Tian arrived at Grandfather Ji’s study room, she was even more dumbfounded. The bookshelf extended from the bottom of the room to the top of the building, feeling as tall as three floors. There was also an automatic lifting ladder next to it.
She couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow, how magnificent!”
Grandfather Ji smiled and said, “The books here are ones that Grandpa has collected since elementary school until now!”
Qing Tian exclaimed even more, “That’s wonderful. I’ve always dreamed of having such a large bookshelf. I never expected your bookshelf to be so spectacular, Grandfather Ji, with at least tens of thousands of books!”
Grandfather Ji pulled a book from the bookshelf and placed it in front of Qing Tian, saying, “I’ve always wanted to give this book to someone destined for it. Today, it just so happens to have met you!”
Qing Tian asked, flattered, “Grandfather Ji, is this really for me?”
Qing Tian asked again, unsure.
Grandfather Ji nodded and smiled. Then he handed the book to Qing Tian.
Qing Tian smiled as she looked at the book title.
It turned out to be: 《Ji Xianghuan Autobiography 》Collector’s Edition!
Then they went to view the calligraphy and paintings to be exhibited. Among them, a painting of orchids was very lifelike.
It felt as if that ink wash painting truly existed.
Grandfather Ji was truly a first-class national painter.
Qing Tian stood there looking at Grandfather Ji, as if she saw an aged Ji Xiangyu. Ji Xiangyu would also be this outstanding in the future, or even more so.
