Chapter 248: Li Kai’s Sense of Crisis ①
Nie Qiu didn’t expect to be cornered again. Yes, again, because the people this time were the same as last time, the same few girls from Class 5, no more, no less, five of them.
Huang Yan had to do cleaning duty, Zhang Haiyang was helping Huang Yan with cleaning duty, Li Kai had already left school before she did, Peng Yu Yang… Peng Yu Yang hadn’t walked home from school with her in a long time. It seemed these people had it all figured out; she was going home alone today, and perhaps… someone among them had been following her.
“Oh, how is it? I said Nie Qiu was going home alone today, didn’t I?” a girl spat out her gum and looked at Nie Qiu with a smile. “We all watched the television, you did quite well!”
Nie Qiu subtly took a step back. “Thank you for the praise.”
“Praise my ass.” The girl spat. “I heard someone say the champion gets a hundred thousand yuan prize money. How much money do you have on you now? Hand it over for your sisters to spend?”
Hearing this, Nie Qiu decided not to waste any more words with them. It seemed their purpose for stopping her today was to rob her! She felt a sense of disappointment towards these girls, so she glared at them a few times before turning around to leave. However, the girl couldn’t stand being looked down upon. She shouted from behind and chased after her, “What the hell are you glaring at?”
“You, you from Class 10, stop right there!”
Nie Qiu stopped because they had blocked her path again.
“Hand over the money!” The girl with dyed yellow hair extended her hand and said to Nie Qiu, “If you don’t, you know the consequences.”
“What if I don’t?” Nie Qiu smiled. She had fought with Chen Li and the others before and hadn’t suffered any losses because she had some training. Last time she fought with these girls, they were more experienced than Chen Li and the others. Conventional martial arts were useless against them; scratching and hair-pulling were their specialty. So, she had lost quite miserably. Fortunately, Luo Xu and Zhang Haiyang had helped, and she believed these girls wouldn’t have gotten off lightly with the police station and their parents.
Since that incident, Nie Qiu had been practicing her limbs in her own space. Although the movements were still conventional, they were much smoother than before. Dealing with these five girls should be manageable. These girls deserved to be taught a lesson.
When Nie Qiu refused to hand over the money, the girls exchanged glances. Under the nod of the yellow-haired girl, one of them rushed forward and swung her schoolbag at Nie Qiu, while another lunged at her.
Nie Qiu sidestepped to the left, dodged the schoolbag, and kicked the other girl in the leg. The girl stumbled before she could regain her balance, and Nie Qiu stepped on her thigh, applying some force.
Nie Qiu was good at biology; the thigh was mostly muscle, and the cells there were the strongest in the body, impossible to break. The girl Nie Qiu had stepped on cried out. Seeing this, the other girl shouted and rushed over, trying to pull Nie Qiu’s hair.
Nie Qiu, who was focused on her foot, was caught off guard and had her hair pulled, causing her to stumble back two steps. She didn’t care about the pain in her scalp and turned to kick the girl. Then, while the other three were stunned, she turned and ran.
She wasn’t far from school and didn’t want to get a disciplinary action.
The three girls snapped out of their daze, cursed a few times, and took off in pursuit. Nie Qiu’s scalp tingled and hurt, so she wasn’t running very fast. Compared to those who often ran from teachers and parents, she was a bit slow, so Nie Qiu was soon blocked again.
Nie Qiu looked for an opportunity to turn and run when they weren’t paying attention, but as she turned, she almost bumped into someone.
It was Ye Haifei.
Ye Haifei glanced at the few female classmates from his own class. As soon as the girls saw him, they ran off without looking back. His gaze was too terrifying; they had seen that look before, and it meant the devil was coming, and they would die a thousand deaths.
Ye Haifei looked at Nie Qiu with a half-smile. “You’ve got guts, picking a fight with people from Class 5 in front of me.”
Nie Qiu knew Ye Haifei. There were rumors at school that his father was involved in the underworld, which was why he was so arrogant and no one dared to provoke him.
His entire demeanor was punk and non-mainstream, which Nie Qiu disliked intensely. Seeing that he seemed to be stepping up for the girls from his class, she said, “If you’re going to fight, do it quickly.”
Ye Haifei scanned Nie Qiu from head to toe as if he were scanning her. He said, “In response to the school’s call, I watched that program. You look quite pretty when you wear makeup!”
Nie Qiu was confused. “You’re not going to fight?” Actually, students looked better without makeup, but to be more photogenic, both boys and girls wore a layer of undetectable light makeup.
Ye Haifei picked up a brick from the roadside and held it in his hand. He said, “You can’t beat me even if you only fight me.”
Nie Qiu glanced at the brick in Ye Haifei’s hand and said with a bitter smile, “That’s right! I can’t beat you, and I can’t be bothered to fight. You go ahead and hit me! It’ll save me from getting a disciplinary action.”
Ye Haifei smiled and didn’t make a move. He said, “If you don’t fight back, what’s the point of me hitting you? It’s boring…”
Nie Qiu sneered, “It’s fine. After you hit me, I’ll go to the hospital for a medical examination. I’ll make sure you don’t have a moment’s peace, okay?”
Ye Haifei pretended to think for a moment and said, “Oh dear! Then I won’t hit you. What if you try to extort me?”
Nie Qiu looked at him. “You’re not going to hit me?”
Ye Haifei nodded.
“Really not going to hit me?” Nie Qiu said with a smile. “It’s good you’re not hitting me; it saves me a trip to the hospital.” After saying that, she reached out to take the brick from Ye Haifei’s hand without any trace of hostility.
Ye Haifei stared blankly at Nie Qiu’s smile. He also smiled and let go of the brick, handing it to her.
Nie Qiu took the brick, weighed it in her hand, and swung it towards Ye Haifei’s head, making him stagger. Blood appeared on his forehead.
After hitting someone, Nie Qiu casually threw the brick away and left without saying a word.
Ye Haifei turned around and looked at Nie Qiu’s back, letting out a hissing laugh.
Nie Qiu was angry. Class 5’s grades were definitely better than Class 10’s, which was why it was called Class 5 and they were assigned to Class 5. But after so much, they had been constantly improving, yet Class 5 had not only failed to improve but had fallen far behind. And those few girls, they had clearly… clearly given up on their studies. This gave Nie Qiu a certain prejudice against Class 5. Although it felt like she was judging the whole barrel based on a few bad apples, and perhaps there were good students in Class 5, in Nie Qiu’s eyes, Class 5 was the epitome of bad students.
