Chapter 48: Waiting For News About The Birds
The dog thief dragged Dan Zai for a while before stopping the car and stuffing it into a sack.
Watching this scene with wide eyes, Tu Tu felt extremely distressed, “Yuan Yuan, what do we do now?”
Just as Jiang Yuan was about to speak, a tall figure suddenly darted out.
“Did you steal my Xiao Zhi?” The man wearing a hat and mask grabbed Green Hair’s collar and said excitedly, “Give Xiao Zhi back to me!”
“Damn it, are you crazy!” Green Hair cursed and pushed the man, “Let go! Don’t pull my clothes!”
Little Mo Yan flapped its wings and circled above the electric scooter.
“Give Xiao Zhi back to me!” Ning Jia Nian tightly gripped Green Hair’s collar.
“Fuck!” Green Hair had no choice but to take off his clothes and start hitting people with his fists.

He stood up, his voice muffled, “Thank you just now.”
Jiang Yuan met the boy’s clear, clean eyes and said slowly, “Don’t be so impulsive next time.”
“When I saw how they treated the puppy, and thought that Xiao Zhi was also taken away by them so roughly, I couldn’t control myself…” Ning Jia Nian’s hands, hanging by his sides, clenched tightly, and anger appeared between his brows.
“This is too much! What organization is it, and why are they stealing dogs!”
Jiang Yuan pursed her lips and said nothing.
Those who steal dogs are either dog fighting rings or dog meat vendors.

After a few seconds of silence, Jiang Yuan said lightly, “I’m leaving now.”
“Wait.” Ning Jia Nian called out to her, his tone solemn, “Can you give me your payment code? Thank you for saving me just now.”
“Forget the payment code,” Jiang Yuan thought for a moment, “Adding each other on WeChat would be nice.”
If she was lucky, perhaps his Xiao Zhi could return.

After adding each other on WeChat, Jiang Yuan rode the electric scooter home with Tu Tu.
Ning Jia Nian watched her figure disappear into the nightfall, and he was once again engulfed in the sadness of losing his beloved pet, his eyes reddened, murmuring, “Xiao Zhi…”
“Ancestor, where have you been?” Manager Liu had been standing at the community entrance for two hours in the cold wind. Seeing him return, he immediately rushed over, “You didn’t answer my calls, I was so worried!”

Manager Liu opened his mouth, not knowing what to say, and could only sigh deeply.
Jiang Yuan took a low stool and sat beside Tu Tu, holding a cup of hot tea, steam rising gently.
Man and dog quietly gazed at the night outside the balcony, listening to the whistling wind, feeling the loneliness of the winter night.
Suddenly, Tu Tu sighed.
Jiang Yuan glanced at him and reached out to comfortingly rub his head.
“Why aren’t you sleeping yet?” Deng Rui came out to use the toilet and saw her waiting on the balcony, enduring the cold wind. She took a jacket and draped it over her, “You silly girl, standing out here in the wind!”
Jiang Yuan smiled, “Mom, I’m waiting for news.”
Deng Rui looked at her as if she were a fool, “Can’t you wait for news in bed? And you’re making Tu Tu stay up with you!”
Jiang Yuan said helplessly, “Waiting for news from the birds.”
Deng Rui: “…”
Alright, then waiting here is indeed more appropriate.
Ever since she discovered her daughter could talk to small animals, Deng Rui felt she had changed even more.

The balcony returned to silence.
Jiang Yuan took a sip of tea, suddenly felt something, and her dim eyes gradually lit up.
She stood up and looked at the dark night outside the balcony. A blue-black swallow, like an elf, flapped its wings vigorously, piercing the night and flying towards her.
Jiang Yuan reached out her hand, and the Little Mo Yan slowly folded its wings and landed on her palm, “Yuan Yuan, Yan is back!”
Tu Tu also excitedly tilted his head up, staring at Little Mo Yan.
“You’ve worked hard,” Jiang Yuan sat back on the low stool, offering the water and grains she had prepared.
Little Mo Yan pecked at the water a few times and began to recount the scenes it had witnessed.
