Chapter 8: We Must Break Up
Xie Yuchen knew the surveillance was broken, but that was just the pet hospital’s person in charge’s excuse to brush him off.
Spotting someone in the onlookers raising their phone to record, he worried it would affect his future “hunts,” so he reluctantly left.
Jiang Yuan originally wanted to call out to him and ask for her money back.
But then she thought, Xie Yuchen probably wouldn’t admit it, so it was better to leave professional matters to professionals and just hire a lawyer to sue for recovery, which would be less troublesome.
After leaving the pet hospital, just as Jiang Yuan got into the driver’s seat, she heard someone calling her name.
“Yuan, Yuan Yuan, wait a moment!”
Jiang Yuan turned her head and saw Linda rushing over, wearing high heels, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
Zhou Yawei didn’t know Jiang Yuan’s name, she only remembered that Xie Yuchen had called her “Yuan Yuan” just now.
She walked to the car door, holding her phone in both hands, and through the half-lowered car window, met Jiang Yuan’s questioning gaze. Mustering her courage, she said, “My name is Zhou Yawei, can we add each other on WeChat?”

“I have a trouble,” she said. “I was foolish before and pretended to be someone else’s girlfriend.”
The magpie blinked its eyes.
Jiang Yuan looked at the little creature in her palm, thinking it was a bit funny that she was confiding in a bird.
The next second, the magpie said seriously, “Then Yuan Yuan doesn’t want to be someone’s girlfriend anymore?”
Jiang Yuan’s eyebrows shot up in surprise, “You actually understood!”
The magpie puffed up with pride, “Of course, I’m the smartest bird in our family.”
Jiang Yuan extended her finger and tapped its little head. “Indeed, you are smart.”
The magpie said, “Then Yuan Yuan tell that human to find someone else to be his girlfriend!”
“I know,” Jiang Yuan sighed. “But this human is scary. I’m afraid he’ll destroy me if he gets angry.”
The magpie said very seriously, “Don’t be afraid, Yuan Yuan. I’ll get my family and friends to protect you! If that human dares to bully you, I’ll peck his face to pieces!”
Jiang Yuan actually thought this was a good idea.
But this time, she was in the wrong first, so doing this was inappropriate.
That evening, the sunset was as brilliant as molten gold, with a vast expanse of orange-yellow soft light spreading across the sky, making the city’s tall buildings seem to be draped in a golden veil.
Fu Jinxing sent his assistant Qiao Ze to pick up Jiang Yuan.
The black Bentley drove through the traffic, with Jiang Yuan sitting in the back seat, her face full of worry.
There was a traffic jam on the road, and she looked at the person in the driver’s seat. “Assistant Qiao, why did your boss suddenly ask me to dinner today?”

Qiao Ze replied, “President Fu will be here.”

The Western restaurant Fu Jinxing had booked was on the 88th floor. Jiang Yuan stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, quietly gazing at the bustling scene of Yun Jing City.
About ten minutes later, there was a knock on the private room door.
The waiter pushed the door open, and a man in a dark wool suit strode in.
Fu Jinxing sat down at the dining table. Seeing Jiang Yuan standing there, staring at him blankly, he frowned and asked, “Aren’t you going to sit down?”
“Oh, coming.” Jiang Yuan sat opposite him.
Fu Jinxing handed her the menu, “Order whatever you want to eat.”

“Is that enough?” he asked.

Fu Jinxing looked at her deeply, then added a few more dishes.
After the food was served, Jiang Yuan immediately started eating.

Soft music was playing in the private room. Suddenly hearing her name, Jiang Yuan paused her action of eating foie gras.
She lifted her eyelids and looked at him. “What’s wrong?”
“You today,” the man’s voice paused slightly, and he spoke again, “you’ve been a bit strange these past few days.”
Before, when they ate together, she would take dozens of photos and sometimes ask him for help.
Jiang Yuan put the unfinished foie gras back on the plate.
She sat up straight, her clear eyes looking directly at Fu Jinxing. “Actually, I have something to tell you.”
The man’s expression also became serious. “What do you want to say, marriage?”
Jiang Yuan had hinted at it before.

Jiang Yuan secretly felt fortunate that she had awakened before the engagement.
She solemnly explained, “That was just a fleeting thought. I’ve thought about it carefully, and we must break up.”
Fu Jinxing looked at her for a long time. “What is the reason for needing to break up?”
