Chapter 314: Selfish Essence
“Being self-righteous,” these four words have truly scammed many people.
It’s like how many people like to read books, but they can’t break free from the literal text and see what’s behind it.
Then, by instinct, they only like to read what they want to read, and when they see what they don’t want to read, the resistance they show, my god, it’s like they’re suffocating themselves.
On one hand, they can’t help but want to keep reading, and on the other hand, they can’t control themselves from arguing. They are continuously in contradiction, it’s become fun. Hahaha.
What is the essence of this? The essence is actually their excessive self-righteousness, selfishness, self-interest, and greed.
Simply put, it’s just: only wanting to obtain what you desire. That’s the whole point.
But in reality? No one is forcing you to read, and even less are they confiscating your tuition fees to teach you many things. You’re quite something, taking others’ things without gratitude, and then dwelling on them not writing what you want to read?
Wanting to see a person’s character is that simple.
People with good temperaments, why would they care what you write, whether they like it or not? When they receive help from you, they will genuinely thank you. Because they know that in this world, no one would give such things to anyone for free.
People with this ability are entirely capable of using it to acquire wealth, instead of sitting dryly in front of a computer, bending over to lecture a group of people, just for the benefit of the few truly good individuals who can see it.
For someone who doesn’t believe in human nature, doing something that can change one’s mindset for others, only to be hit with a brick from the malicious aspects of human nature from time to time.
Enduring the bumps on their head without feeling the pain, excitedly shouting and persevering.
It’s all because when they see someone say:
“Big Brother, I used to be very self-conscious, but now I’m super confident.”
“Big Brother, I’ve been depressed for several years, and it was never good, but after reading your books, it hasn’t happened again.”
“Big Brother, when I encounter annoying things, I always unconsciously recall your words, and then instantly become calm again.”
“Brother, I used to be troubled when facing my parents, but now I’m not. I even understand them well, and sometimes I even go and amuse my mom, making her laugh so hard. It’s really fun.”
“Brother, thank you so much. Reading your books has been a great help to me. I think I know how I should proceed with my future path.”
“Brother, I believe I can definitely become a strong person, because you said that I am inherently strong, I just forgot.”
“Brother, the other day, a foolish ghost entered my dream and tried to scare me, but I remembered what you told me. Our Wuji Sword Sect specializes in eating ghosts. I couldn’t help but chuckle, and guess what? It got scared away directly. Then I woke up, hahahaha. Next time I’ll hold back a bit, I won’t laugh first, I’ll give it a couple of punches and then laugh. Hehehe.”
…
These words are the best encouragement for him, and the motivation for him to continue doing this!
Although he occasionally says some true things, to those who don’t understand, it might seem like bragging or showing off.
But it doesn’t matter, because this book is written for many Bodhisattvas who have not yet awakened, and it’s a key to unlock the shackles that bind them. It’s not specifically for hungry ghosts. It’s just that as energy is invested, hungry ghosts will also greedily come to suck it up, and while sucking, they will argue.
When faced with such situations, the writer also feels helpless. Recalling his enlightened old master, he can’t help but sigh, and at the same time, he deeply understands why the teacher, in a fit of rage, tore up his medical texts and stopped saving people from then on.
Immortals are inherently unfeeling! They are not influenced by sentiments in the conventional sense.
It is only by observing the sounds of the world and perceiving the cries of suffering from sentient beings that they extend a helping hand.
If even immortals can be chilled by certain people, can you imagine?
Sigh…
Vowing not to attain Buddhahood until hell is empty, entering hell alone, one must not only be able to help many sentient beings’ hearts leave suffering, but also have the enlightenment to face those malicious beings.
Because when facing malice, it’s like offering food to hungry ghosts. The reason they are called hungry ghosts is that they are never satisfied; no matter how much you give, they still feel it’s not enough.
If you stop giving, they will resent you and blame you for not saving them.
In this world, it’s not surprising that many immortals are unfeeling and indifferent to the suffering of sentient beings.
The thing that most prevents immortals from looking directly is not the sun, but human nature.
Human nature is filled with variability; sometimes petty, sometimes open-minded, sometimes honest, sometimes deceitful…
And ordinary people in the mortal world cannot control this characteristic, or even find it difficult to detect. They continuously cycle back and forth between these two contradictory mindsets.
Without great compassion, one truly cannot tolerate this, and therefore, naturally cannot row the boat to ferry others across the river.
Because the person rowing knows that before getting on the boat, everyone puts on a good-person facade, wanting to cross the river.
But once they are on the boat, some people cannot overcome their ego and begin to doubt and question why the rower let them on without charging a fare? Because this completely goes against their self-serving cognitive logic. It exceeds the scope of their understanding.
If you were to charge them a fare of a hundred thousand or eighty thousand, they would say you are exploiting this to make money. If you don’t charge, they will question your motives.
Nothing is more amusing than this.
Even if Big Brother is not a god or an immortal, seeing you change back and forth like this in front of me, how could I not see you clearly?
Understanding a person, hehe, it’s too damn simple. One type is steady and stable. The other type is this kind of back-and-forth. Nothing else.
Isn’t it simple? The steady, stable ones can endure and absorb a large portion of the nourishment, allowing themselves to grow and thus be genuinely grateful.
As for those with unstable temperaments? One moment they approve, the next they doubt.
Who the hell needs your self-righteous approval!
If I don’t scold you, just quiet down for a while. If you want to ask any questions, put yourself in the right position! Even compulsory education charges a fee! You expect to get guidance from me for free? What are you thinking?
Don’t say I, Laozi, didn’t charge money! Others paid me to charge them, but I’m still waiting. I’ll wait until these good children stabilize their temperaments before I say anything more.
If, while absorbing nourishment, they also complain that the sow is skinny, then the mother pig will show you what poisonous milk from a hormonally-treated pig is like. I’ll trick you, you brat, hehehe, it’s really fun, yahahahaha.
I’m just saying, we don’t scam people, it’s meaningless and a waste of time.
…
Seeing that it was getting late, Big Brother and everyone else returned from the training ground to the mess hall.
“Damn it! Roast meat, roast meat! Extra meal tonight! Those who can drink, drink alcohol! Those who can’t, drink tea! Enjoy today’s wine today, tomorrow there’s no wine, so we won’t drink anymore, ohoho! Yahahahaha.”
