Chapter 173: Falling Into The Water
A boat passed by the riverside, and there was a theater troupe on the boat playing music and singing. Seeing the theater troupe performing on the boat, the people all felt it was novel, and they crowded over one by one, filling the entire riverside with people.
Su Yaoguang felt the riverside was cool, and appreciating the moon by the water was especially unique; she really liked this feeling. But suddenly the crowd surged, separating her from Zhou Wangshu.
A hand reached out and pushed her toward the water.
Su Yaoguang instinctively grabbed the person pushing her, so the two of them fell into the water together.
“Ah…” Jiang Yihuan screamed.
Su Yaoguang saw Jiang Yihuan and felt both hatred and anger.
This damned woman was truly relentless.
However, falling into the water in front of so many people was utterly humiliating.
Just as Su Yaoguang was thinking of swimming away quickly after falling in, a hand reached out to pull her up, rescuing her just as she touched the water.
Su Yaoguang’s body was unsteady, and that person held her, steadying her posture.
Plop! The sound of someone falling into the water came.
“Someone fell in the water! Quick, save the person!”
Someone in the crowd shouted loudly.
Su Yaoguang looked at Zhou Wangshu in front of her with lingering fear.
Zhou Wangshu looked at her nervously, checking her body: “Are you hurt? Did that venomous woman do anything to harm you?”
Su Yaoguang stared blankly at the anxious Zhou Wangshu, her eyes suddenly turning red.
“What’s wrong? Where does it hurt?” Zhou Wangshu saw her not speaking, as if she was about to cry, and looking at the woman in the water, a murderous glint flashed in his eyes.
Su Yaoguang hugged Zhou Wangshu tightly and sniffled: “So when I fell into the water at the same time as someone else, there was still someone who would pull me up first.”
Hearing her say this, the bit of tension in Zhou Wangshu’s heart vanished. He remembered that ‘dream’ and said sarcastically: “As long as you’re not blind and don’t misjudge people, of course someone will pull you up.”
“Wangshu, why are you so good?” Su Yaoguang said. “You’re so filial to older sister; in the future, your son’s diapers and food and drink, older sister will cover them all for you.”
Zhou Wangshu: “…”
He must be crazy to have felt sorry for her just now.
Jiang Yihuan was still flailing in the water.
Su Yaoguang heard the commotion still ongoing and craned her neck to look at the chaos in the water.
“Look at her; as soon as she fell in, over a dozen men jumped in to save her. Tsk tsk tsk, this popularity—I can’t help but give her a thumbs up.”
“If you’re envious, I’ll throw you in right now and arrange fifty—no, a hundred men to save you.” Zhou Wangshu said, pinching his fingers as if to throw her in.
Su Yaoguang hugged Zhou Wangshu’s arm: “You went to so much trouble to save me; I can’t let down your good intentions.”
Xiao Yanci was carrying things and searching for Jiang Yihuan’s figure by the riverside. He had just been thinking of buying some things and told Jiang Yihuan to wait for him by the riverside. The scenery here was nice, the perfect place for a young couple to flirt.
But why were there so many people today, and so noisy? He couldn’t even find the person he was looking for.
Su Yaoguang saw Xiao Yanci, nudged Zhou Wangshu, and said: “Should we do a good deed and let him go into the water to find Jiang Yihuan?”
“We should do a good deed and let him go into the water to reunite with her.” Zhou Wangshu said this, then saw a few little beggars not far away and beckoned to them.
Su Yaoguang saw Zhou Wangshu instruct the little beggars a few words, and then they ran toward Xiao Yanci, blocking his path and begging him.
Xiao Yanci had mysophobia and hated these dirty little beggars the most. The little beggars clung to him relentlessly; he impatiently pushed them away. However, there were too many little beggars, and he was squeezed to the riverside.
Plop! Xiao Yanci fell into the water too.
“What day is it today? The one from earlier hasn’t been rescued yet, and now this one fell in.”
“The earlier one was a woman, this one’s a man. That woman from earlier was pretty good-looking; I saw Wang Ergou and them groping around down there for a long time!”
“This man looks pretty handsome too…”
The women eyed the flailing Xiao Yanci in the water with greed. But most women were reserved; only one chubby girl jumped in and swam toward Xiao Yanci.
Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu watched the show from the riverside.
After Jiang Yihuan fell in, so many men jumped down to save her; if they wanted to rescue her, they would have by now. To put it bluntly, they thought she was pretty and were deliberately taking advantage of her down there!
“There are too many people here; be careful not to get squeezed in later. Let’s go!”
“Okay.”
Su Yaoguang glanced back and saw Xiao Yanci reaching toward her direction, his eyes full of pleading.
Su Yaoguang sneered, made a face, and caught up to Zhou Wangshu ahead.
“Wangshu, what did you say to those beggars?”
“Nothing.”
Zhou Wangshu pursed his lips.
Ever since Feng Chaoyang followed him, almost all the beggars here listened to him.
“I’m hungry again.” Su Yaoguang pulled Zhou Wangshu to the roasted meat stall.
Zhou Wangshu: “…”
Her heart was truly big.
If he hadn’t come back in time just now, the one flailing in the water would be her. Once she fell in, with so many people around for the excitement today, there would surely be many jumping in to take advantage of her.
“Boss, a pot of wine.” Su Yaoguang ordered happily, directly calling for a pot of wine.
Zhou Wangshu frowned: “It’s so late; you still want to drink?”
“You’re still young and can’t drink; I’ll drink alone. I’m happy today, so I must drink to celebrate.”
“Those two are unlucky, and you’re this happy?” Zhou Wangshu said. “I heard that the more you hate someone, the more you care about them. You hate them so much; could it be you care a lot?”
Su Yaoguang poured herself a cup of wine and downed it in one gulp: “Who are they to deserve my attention? I’m happy because I have Wangshu by my side, not fighting alone.”
Zhou Wangshu took a cup and handed it over: “Then pour some for me too.”
“You can’t; your tolerance is too poor—you embarrassed yourself badly last time. Don’t drink.” Su Yaoguang refused. “This bit of wine isn’t even enough for me alone.”
Zhou Wangshu pulled out his sachet: “All your silver is with me; you have none on you, right? If you won’t let me drink, you can’t drink either.”
Su Yaoguang: “…Don’t you know how poor your tolerance is?”
Zhou Wangshu took the sachet and started to leave.
“Fine, fine, you can drink—just one cup.”
Zhou Wangshu shouted to the boss: “Boss, another portion of roasted meat, and another pot of wine.”
Just one cup for him?
Who was he looking down on?
Saying he was young? Where was he young?
Last time was his first time drinking, so it was inevitable to underperform a bit. This time would definitely be different; he was determined to redeem himself.
People coming from the riverside sat at the nearby table, ordered roasted meat, and discussed the earlier incident of those two falling into the water.
“I heard that young lady is the daughter of the Fenghua Pavilion shop owner, the famous beauty around here. Wang Laizi groped her for a long time earlier. Poor thing; who knows how she’ll get married now.”
