Chapter 242: Collision
Miaomiao ran out without even wearing shoes, running around aimlessly in the dark night.
She anxiously called for Father everywhere along the way, at a loss.
Because she was too anxious, her foot gave way and she fell into the grass on the field ridge. The sand and dirt on the ground hurt her feet all the way, but she didn’t care; she had to find Father first to save Mother.
Just now, she didn’t know what she stepped on, and suddenly her sole hurt sharply; it must have been pierced by something.
Miaomiao endured the pain, got up, and limped along while crying.
Recalling the past, she loved Mother so much, but just now Mother looked lifeless and was still bleeding. She was so scared and worried; she couldn’t lose Mother.
Just now in her sleep, Father and Mother were arguing, and she was so anxious that she kept crying.
When she woke up, Mother had fainted, and Father was gone. Was it because Mother came back late and Father got angry?
So it turned out she wasn’t dreaming earlier; it was real?
“Woo… Father, where are you?”
“Mother, sick.”
All around, there was only the sound of the small river flowing and the croaking of frogs.
She walked aimlessly along the road for who knows how long; she felt it had been a long, long time. It seemed like there were people talking faintly ahead: “San Mao bro, so that’s why you’re unhappy? I thought something happened to you.”
This voice sounded like Aunt Fengjiao. Why were Father and she together? Didn’t Mother dislike Aunt Fengjiao the most?
“Could it be that you’re still doubting yourself? As a woman, you should naturally put your husband above all. How could she tell you to get out?”
“Speaking of which, this is originally your home. You’ve already done plenty well. This isn’t your fault; any man would be unable to take it.”
“And she pushed you out. How can she treat her own husband like that? Miaomiao’s Mother went too far.”
“Father!!!”
Miaomiao shouted and ran over, startling the two.
Miaomiao stared hatefully at the scheming Zhao Fengjiao in front of her. “You bad woman, don’t talk about Mother like that!”
“My Mother is the best woman in the world! I won’t allow you to say that about her!”
Both Zhao Fengjiao and Li Sanmao were stunned. A trace of shock appeared in Li Sanmao’s eyes.
Zhao Fengjiao didn’t expect Miaomiao to see her scheming; there was a hint of panic on her face!
Li Sanmao got angry first, his face darkening: “Miaomiao, how did you get here? Where’s your mother?”
“Father, come home with me!”
Li Sanmao said coldly: “Apologize to your Aunt Fengjiao first!”
“What? Father, Miaomiao won’t!”
“Won’t? Who taught you to call people bad women at the drop of a hat?”
Miaomiao sobbed aggrievedly.
“Cry, what’s there to cry about? A little girl like you, cursing your Aunt Fengjiao for no reason. Do you still think you’re right?”
“Hehe, San Mao bro, Miaomiao is still young; don’t be angry with her!” Zhao Fengjiao said with feigned kindness.
“See how magnanimous your Aunt Fengjiao is. Miaomiao, you’re not little anymore; you can’t do this next time.”
Watching the two go back and forth, Miaomiao suddenly shouted loudly, “Father, you’ve changed! Miaomiao doesn’t like you anymore!”
She turned and ran off.
“You brat… exactly like your mother!” For some reason, Li Sanmao’s anger grew even stronger.
Who knew, after running a few steps, Miaomiao stopped, turned back, and cried loudly: “Father, Mother is sick and bleeding a lot. Miaomiao called her but she didn’t respond. Miaomiao is willing to apologize; please go back and save her first!”
“Aunt Fengjiao, sorry!!!”
With that, she cried and ran off without looking back.
“What? How could… Miaomiao?” Li Sanmao was shocked, his face changing drastically, and he hurriedly followed…
“Hey, San Mao bro!”
Li Sanmao’s figure had already gone far, disappearing into the night.
Originally, Li Sanmao had stormed out of home in a rage with nowhere to go. He walked to the roadside embankment nearby and, in anger, punched a stone wall!
Who knew he ran into Zhao Fengjiao, who was wandering around here. Ever since those noble men came to Luo Zhi’er’s home last time, she loved to hang around near their house for no reason.
Today she heard Luo Zhi’er had gone to town again, and she only saw Li Sanmao alone at home. As dusk fell, a horse carriage entered the village and headed toward their home, so she hurried over to scout for news.
By coincidence, she ran into Li Sanmao, who was furious after the argument, punching the stone desperately!
So she ran over and casually comforted him a couple of times. Unexpectedly, Li Sanmao seemed to have taken the wrong medicine today. The usually cold and heartless man actually responded to her unusually, with tears in his eyes, asking, “Am I really that bad?”
“San Mao bro, what are you saying? Look, your hand is bleeding…”
With nowhere to vent, Li Sanmao told her about Luo Zhi’er telling him to get out earlier and even asked if it was his fault.
Watching him go far away, Zhao Fengjiao said, “Tch! This fool, what’s the rush? Maybe that fatty deliberately tricked you to make you anxious?”
That’s how she’ll have you hooked.
This scene was also witnessed fully by Chen Shi from not far away.
At first, she thought Li Sanmao was so devoted to Luo Zhi’er, but it turned out not at all.
After seeing the whole situation, she snorted coldly and dragged the two children behind her home.
Li Sanmao and Miaomiao arrived home one after the other. Li Sanmao rushed into the bedroom, having completely forgotten his earlier displeasure.
As soon as he opened the door, he almost stumbled at the sight of the pale, lifeless person on the bed.
She was really still bleeding… “How could this be?”
“Zhi’er, Zhi’er, how are you?”
He touched her forehead; there was no response, only Miaomiao’s worried and sad sniffling. Miaomiao didn’t even look at her father.
She had been fine when he went out earlier; he never imagined this would happen!
“Father, you’re bad. I’m never speaking to you again. You made Mother like this. Miaomiao heard it even in her sleep! Woo… If anything happens to Mother, you compensate me for her!”
Miaomiao cried aggrievedly. Li Sanmao had no mood to blame anymore: “Sorry, Miaomiao, Father was wrong. Father didn’t know your mother would get so angry!”
“Father will take your mother to see the doctor right now.”
Last time she fainted in town just like this; the village Doctor Li definitely wouldn’t do. Going to town for a doctor would waste time round trip.
He bent down, used all his strength to pick up Luo Zhi’er, and headed to the mule cart frame outside. Just as he went out, Bill’s terrified neighing started.
This commotion alerted everyone in the Old Li Family; Chen Shi had also returned.
Old Li Tou saw Li Sanmao carrying the unconscious Luo Zhi’er; the third child was staggering under the huge load and hurriedly went to lead out the mule and harness the cart.
He let him put her on it.
“Third child, what exactly happened?”
“Miaomiao’s Mother fainted. Dad, I need to take her to town for treatment. Please watch Miaomiao for me!”
“Fainted? How did she faint out of nowhere? Alright! Go! Miaomiao, don’t worry; Dad will definitely look after you!”
“Father, Miaomiao wants to go too!” Miaomiao cried.
“Miaomiao, your mother’s condition is urgent. Your father needs to care for her; don’t go and make trouble!” Old Li Tou added.
Miaomiao only wanted Mother to get better. As long as she did, “Okay, Miaomiao won’t go. Father, you must cure Mother. Miaomiao won’t make trouble.”
Li Sanmao’s heart ached. He ran into the house, got a quilt to pad under Luo Zhi’er, and found a blanket to cover her.
Li Daqiang had also returned by then and was startled by the sight. He hurriedly stepped forward: “Third brother, oldest brother will go with you; I can at least run errands.”
“Good!”
Xiao Zhou Shi ran out and saw Li Daqiang volunteering to help, which made her roll her eyes in anger. She wanted to say something, but seeing Old Li Tou’s dark face, she held back, a bit panicked. It was she who had stopped him just now!
