Chapter 233: Humble Prometheus
While the God King was carefully savoring the ultimate bliss with the Daughter of the Ocean in the Divine Palace, another Oceanid Goddess whom He equally cherished finally met Prometheus, who had been waiting outside the hall for a long time.
This renowned God of Foresight, son of Iapetus, still did not resemble His stubborn father god much.
Although deep within His divinity, there was also a restrained arrogance.
But at least, He was not so stubborn, and when necessary, He never lacked the smoothness to judge the situation.
Sure enough, as soon as he saw the figure of the Goddess of Wisdom Metis appear from inside the hall, the most sunny and brilliant smile was already on His face.
He even hurried forward with a posture that could be called humble, and said in a loud and sincere voice:
“Noble first wife of Your Majesty Zeus, illustrious Goddess daughter of Oceanus, Your Excellency the most revered Goddess of Wisdom in the universe, humble Prometheus offers You the highest respect!”
While speaking, Prometheus, who had already arrived in front of Metis, deeply bowed his body, showing impeccable respect.
However, the Goddess of Wisdom, whose divinity was already perfect and becoming ever clearer and purer, saw the anomaly in it at the first moment.
She could clearly feel that in the divine thought of the God of Foresight before her, this excessive enthusiasm and humility did not feel very sincere.
Even if he really had something to ask of her, with Prometheus’s personality, he would not act so enthusiastic, and with His status, he did not need to be so humble.
When a god suddenly comes to request help with unimaginable enthusiasm and humility, it often means there is a problem!
And a big problem at that!
The more humble and respectful, the bigger the problem!
Metis had already quietly raised her vigilance, but she remained composed.
She merely nodded slightly in return, and replied in a gentle voice as soft as jade: “Illustrious son of Iapetus, my respected friend. His Greatness entrusted you brothers with the heavy responsibility of creating life, making the entire world prosperous.”
“You, who are so busy, actually found time amid your busy schedule to come to me. I wonder what important matter it is?”
Upon hearing this, Prometheus immediately let out an extremely heavy sigh, and his handsome face was instantly filled with thick worry matching the sigh.
He replied in an extremely heavy tone: “Respected Goddess of Wisdom, His Greatness entrusting such a heavy responsibility to us brothers is enough to prove how much He values us two brothers.”
“For His Greatness’s favor, our brothers are endlessly grateful in our hearts. We always regard His Greatness’s entrustment as the most sacred divine mission in our divine lives, not daring to forget it in the slightest.”
“In this period of time, under the sacred guidance of the great His Greatness, we have indeed created some new lives for His Greatness, but”
“But we brothers are truly mediocre in aptitude and shallow in insight.”
“Even racking our brains, we have always been unable to imagine what kind of life we should create to truly make this world prosperous?”
“For this, we have been pondering day and night, yet always unable to find the answer.”
As he spoke, Prometheus let out another long sigh filled with helplessness.
“For this reason, we two brothers have been filled with guilt and unease, our minds restless, deeply feeling that we have let down His Greatness’s high regard and favor.”
“After much deliberation, we finally determined that in this entire universe, seeking Your help is the only correct path!”
“Respected Goddess of Wisdom, only You can help us!”
“Yes! Only You! Your Excellency the supreme Goddess of Wisdom! We can only seek Your help!”
Prometheus suddenly raised his head and said loudly with an extremely passionate posture, his gaze even flickering with earnestness: “You are the great God King’s first wife! You are the greatest incarnation of ‘wisdom’!”
“All the gods know that in this world, there is absolutely nothing that can stump Your omniscient wisdom!”
“And there is absolutely no god who understands better than You what kind of life our great His Greatness desires to appear in this world!”
“The gods even know that You and our great His Greatness are of one mind, possessing the greatest magnanimity that is most merciful and generous! You are willing to lend a hand to any difficulties the gods encounter!”
“Respected Your Excellency the Goddess of Wisdom, only You! We two brothers deeply know that only Your help can solve the problems we absolutely cannot solve ourselves!”
“And only with Your help can we possibly achieve and accomplish the immortal great undertaking that will truly win His Greatness’s favor!”
“Great Zeus’s first wife, radiant and merciful Goddess of Wisdom, humble Prometheus earnestly requests You here to grant us Your great wisdom that shines as brightly and brilliantly as the stars!”
“Earnestly request You to let Your light of wisdom illuminate our brothers’ dull minds. Let us, under Your merciful help, bring prosperity to this world and fulfill the most sacred supreme heavy responsibility of our great God King Zeus His Greatness!”
As the words fell, Prometheus once again deeply bent his waist, lowering his posture to the utmost, bowing in plea.
For a moment, this area was in silence.
However, the more impassioned and generous Prometheus’s words were, and the more humble and respectful his posture, the more the Goddess of Wisdom felt that something was amiss!
The higher the flattery He piled on, the more vigilant the clear-minded Goddess of Wisdom became!
Metis did not immediately accept Prometheus’s request, but instead used her pair of golden eyes that could see through everything, matching those of God King Zeus, to cautiously scrutinize the God of Foresight before her, her mind falling into rapid deep thought.
She was a gentle and charitable goddess, that was true.
But she was never the kind of goddess who was principle-less and indiscriminately merciful, nor the kind who did not know boundaries or measure.
She was the God King’s beloved first wife, that was correct.
She did possess enormous power that ordinary gods did not even dare to imagine.
But she was never the kind of goddess who would abuse power, or even overstep the majesty and order of her beloved God King!
When to advance and when to retreat; what could be done and what could not.
In this world, the Goddess of Wisdom had always seen all advances, retreats, gains, and losses with clear and thorough insight.
As long as the matter did not involve Zeus’s love, no matter what it was, she was absolutely worthy of her name “wisdom.”
She and Prometheus were not meeting for the first time; she had some understanding of Him.
This God of Foresight was indeed clever and quick-witted, good at thinking, rational, and quite foresighted.
No matter what he did, He was accustomed to planning ahead, proceeding step by step, and preventing problems before they arose.
He was the type who absolutely thought first and acted later, doing his utmost to avoid all unnecessary risks.
But this did not mean at all that this second generation Titan was an indecisive, procrastinating, timid god!
Once He made up His mind and planned well, the implementation was also quite bold and decisive.
Compared to the process, He valued the outcome more, even possessing a spirit of adventurism.
Once the plan was set, He was willing to take on the corresponding risks proactively, even at all costs.
In the past, when His father god and brothers were still resolutely loyal to the old God King.
When He accurately judged that his beloved God King had a high probability of achieving final victory, He decisively chose to pledge allegiance to the Beloved.
For this, he even personally went to the battlefield and faced his father and brothers in arms.
He was indeed a wise and extremely capable powerful god, worthy of His name “God of Foresight.”
But after knowing Him for so long, she was not blind to His flaws.
This God of Foresight, because of his extraordinary cleverness, had always shown some unconcealable self-conceit, even arrogance rooted deep in his divinity.
He sometimes relied too much on his cleverness, acting overly bold and radical.
Although He planned everything in advance, once the plan was set, He often disregarded the potentially disastrous consequences of the plan’s failure.
His plans were theoretically perfect many times.
But His excessive confidence always made Him habitually ignore the chaotic and complex possibilities of the real world, resulting in His plans often having extremely low fault tolerance.
Those overly risky plans He devised, once they failed, always had very serious consequences.
It could only be said that He was sometimes too “foresighted,” thus neglecting real-world factors.
Leading half a step is genius and often brings great radiant success, but leading one step, or even two or three steps, could be fatal.
And this was His most fatal flaw.
In this regard, He was even inferior to His famously hindsight-driven dumb younger brother.
Epimetheus, the god of hindsight, though sometimes too rash and reckless in action, clearly knew he was not smart, so he often harbored humility and awe in his heart.
Although sometimes, He would still cause all sorts of trouble due to impulsiveness and ignorance.
But the troubles caused by Epimetheus were often only due to carelessness and the limitations of His own wisdom and cognition, never because of conceit and arrogance.
After Epimetheus made a mistake, He knew he was wrong, and immediately corrected it, learning the lesson and not repeating the same error.
But Prometheus was different; He would only think his plan was not good enough or his execution not clever enough. After revising the plan next time, He would still dare to do it the same way.
