Chapter 177: Jessica: “like The Fact That You Two Didn’t Use Protection?”
On the way back, Lin Xiuyuan steadily gripped the steering wheel, driving the car swiftly along the surging highway traffic, quickly overtaking slow vehicles one by one, heading toward Seoul.
At this time, the sky was in the transition period of dusk, with sunlight from just past 5 o’clock filtering through the clouds and illuminating every corner of the city.
The air carried a hint of summer warmth, but still had a slight coolness.
Soo Jung in the front passenger seat kept her head down, seemingly preoccupied, occasionally sneaking glances at the driver’s seat next to her, her gaze unconsciously falling on Lin Xiuyuan’s profile.
She opened her mouth as if she had something to ask, but each time the words reached her lips, seeing Jessica sitting in the back seat through the rearview mirror, she swallowed them back.
Outside the car window, long shadows were stretched by the slanting sunlight, the sunset sprinkling on her face, the warm yellow glow outlining the contours of her soft lines.
The atmosphere inside the car became subtly awkward for a moment, with Soo Jung’s gaze drifting uncertainly, while Lin Xiuyuan focused on the road ahead, seemingly aware of something but never speaking.
Until Jessica in the back seat suddenly broke the silence, “Hey, Soo Jung, this is a bit much, hiding and not daring to speak the whole way, right? What’s so secretive from me? Forgetting your older sister for a guy, huh.”
Soo Jung was stunned, not expecting Jessica to say it so bluntly.
But thinking about it, that was just Jessica’s personality, and lately she had become even more eccentric.
So she turned her head to look at Jessica in the back seat, a trace of helplessness emerging on her face, her mouth twitching slightly, “What forgetting older sister, don’t talk nonsense, Jessica, there are just some things I really can’t tell you.”
With things said to this point, Jessica, besides being shocked and stunned, looked at the guy in the driver’s seat again, no longer pressing but extremely curious.
“No, how long have you two even known each other? And you already have such an important secret?”
“Just be quiet, Jessica, I’ve told you everything I can.”
“Like the thing where you two didn’t use protection?”
This response caught Lin Xiuyuan, who was driving in front, off guard for a moment; his hand shook, nearly causing an accident.
Even someone as bold as Soo Jung from the overseas study group in the front passenger seat couldn’t help blushing at that moment, turning back to glare fiercely at Jessica, “Hey, why do you say everything out loud like that?”
“You said it was a fact yourself, now you’re blaming me?”
Jessica’s mouth curved into a mischievous smile, glancing at Soo Jung; it was clear that the previous remark wasn’t accidental—it was deliberate.
Soo Jung realized she’d been played, turning back to glare fiercely at Jessica before speaking coldly.
“Jessica, don’t push me to spill your big secrets. Anyway, things with Xiuyuan and me are already like this, I’m not afraid of you talking nonsense, but you…”
“Bring it on, who’s afraid?” Jessica shot back without backing down.
“Fine, let’s do it…”
Soo Jung challenged, as the atmosphere gradually grew tense.
Just as she was really about to continue, Jessica immediately raised her hand, interrupting her and ending the match, “Alright, that’s enough. Watch the road.”
Lin Xiuyuan continued driving quietly, with no intention of chiming in or speaking up.
He had only one thought in his mind: These two women are crazy.
The car continued forward, soon exiting the highway and entering Seoul’s city area.
At this point, Lin Xiuyuan had to look at Soo Jung beside him, “Soo Jung, set the location. I don’t know where Jessica’s apartment is.”
Then Jessica in the back seat stirred things up, “Oh, you haven’t even been to Soo Jung’s apartment?”
In response, Lin Xiuyuan ignored her and looked at Soo Jung with a smile, asking, “Should I have?”
Seeing Lin Xiuyuan’s expression, Soo Jung rolled her eyes at him flirtatiously, then answered.
“Nag, what’s there to be afraid of? If I’ve been there, so what.”
“Alright, then we have been. If it’s your residential area, no need for navigation.”
Lin Xiuyuan smiled slightly and continued driving forward.
Meanwhile, Jessica in the back seat watched the increasingly familiar roads on both sides and finally couldn’t hold back, asking, “You’re really not taking me to tour the villa? What if Soo Jung marries you? As her older sister, I’ll have to see it sooner or later.”
“Jessica, shut up.” Soo Jung turned back and glared at her in utter exasperation.
She didn’t know what had gotten into her older sister; after the little store closed, she seemed much more relaxed than before, her whole personality cheerier and quite peculiar.
Jessica shrugged after being rebuked by Soo Jung and finally stopped talking, just fiddling with her mobile phone until the car smoothly passed the gate and headed to the parking lot.
Only then did she look up ahead, “Hey, Jung Soo Jung, you added his license plate?”
“We’re here, get out, Jessica.”
This time Soo Jung had no intention of responding, instead reminding her to scram quickly, “I’ll bring what you want later. Rest well at home.”
“We agreed to eat together in the evening.”
“Something came up.”
“…”
Finally, as Jessica stood in the parking lot watching the Mercedes-Benz’s taillights gradually fade from sight, she huffed in annoyance, “Jung Soo Jung, this isn’t forgetting your older sister for a guy, so what is?”
But her complaint was definitely unheard by Soo Jung, who at that moment was asking Lin Xiuyuan who was at the villa.
“Jinjin, Ji-yeon, and Eun-jung are all here.”
“Hiss~”
Hearing those names, Soo Jung finally understood why Lin Xiuyuan hadn’t let Jessica come; given the current situation, if she went, she’d definitely be grounded.
But soon, Soo Jung thought of something and narrowed her eyes slightly, “By the way, when did you add Taeyeon older sister and Eun-jung older sister as members?”
“One last night, one the night before.” Lin Xiuyuan answered without hesitation.
It just stunned Soo Jung, “Two days, and you added two people? Both on a whim?”
“Taeyeon was on a whim, Eun-jung was okay. Didn’t I tell you about Ji-yeon’s situation before? And when I first approached you, I had already considered the Tara side, but after you came with me, I put it aside for now.”
While driving, Lin Xiuyuan softly explained the recent situation to Soo Jung. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell her before; mainly, many things were hard to say online, and even phone calls had audio recordings.
By the time he finished explaining everything to Soo Jung, the car had just returned to the villa.
Having understood the full situation, Soo Jung turned to Lin Xiuyuan with a slight smile, “You control the gate. Whoever you want to add, I can’t say anything, but… Xiuyuan, some things you need to think through carefully before letting others know. I don’t want to hear someone complaining about kidney deficiency later.”
“Not that bad. Do I look like the type who jumps every girl he sees?” Lin Xiuyuan knew what she meant and chuckled.
“I don’t know if you do, I just know you can’t refuse any.” Soo Jung’s tone carried a hint of joke, yet also a touch of teasing.
“Proactive and passive are two different things.” Lin Xiuyuan raised an eyebrow, with a helpless smile.
Soo Jung continued teasing, “So when they pounce, you just eat them up.”
Lin Xiuyuan paused, “Isn’t it a waste not to eat what’s delivered to your door?”
“Oh, really? Then how about now…”
Hearing this, Soo Jung teasingly raised her eyebrow, her tone suddenly more playful, corners of her mouth lifting slightly, seemingly preparing to tease Lin Xiuyuan further.
“Hey hey hey, Jinjin is calling us, you heard it, right?”
Just as Soo Jung was about to properly teach someone a lesson, Lin Xiuyuan timely interrupted her.
After listening to the voice in his ear, he looked amusingly at the one beside him, “This really isn’t me making it up, you heard it too.”
Soo Jung curiously rolled her eyes at Lin Xiuyuan, then opened the car door and got out, heading toward the villa.
Because Sulli over there was indeed calling; mainly, they had all heard the engine sound of the returning car and the garage door opening and closing.
As Soo Jung stepped out from the car door, she immediately spotted Sulli standing in the yard, her expression lighting up with joy as she went up and hugged her, “Long time no see, Sulli.”
“It’s only been a few days, not that exaggerated.”
Sulli chuckled lightly, then looked past Soo Jung at Lin Xiuyuan coming out behind, “Oppa, thanks for the hard work~”
“Not bad, let’s go in and talk.”
Lin Xiuyuan waved his hand, and the three entered the villa’s living room, where Park Ji-yeon and Ham Eun-jung had already stood up and looked toward the courtyard outside.
When Soo Jung entered, Park Ji-yeon also pulled Ham Eun-jung and greeted the two happily.
Then Soo Jung got reacquainted with Ham Eun-jung, whom she was ‘meeting for the first time,’ the scene extremely amusing.
But after reacquainting with Soo Jung, Ham Eun-jung’s gaze still lingered on her face in surprise, “Wow, Soo Jung, your state looks no different from 2013.”
Hearing this, Soo Jung smiled modestly with her eyes and brows, then quietly glanced at Lin Xiuyuan.
Sulli beside her also smiled, silently watching everything.
Meanwhile.
Jessica, who had returned to her apartment earlier, felt bored after putting away her luggage.
So after hesitating for a moment, she decided to find a friend to have dinner with and chat.
However, after scrolling through her contacts, the people were either in LA on the North American side or hadn’t been in touch for a long time; the rest were not to be disturbed.
So after staring at her contacts for half a day, Jessica surprisingly couldn’t find anyone to eat with for the moment.
If Sunny were here right now, she’d probably mock her for being in the same predicament and vent to her.
Finally, Jessica’s gaze stopped on a familiar name; after hesitating, her fingertip lightly touched the screen, preparing to make the call.
The call connected quickly, but wasn’t answered immediately; it wasn’t until nearly ten seconds later that the other side picked up.
“Hey, older sister~”
The tone carried a bit of surprise and shock, as if unable to believe Jessica was calling her.
