Chapter 132: Why Don’t You Dare Glare At The Third Hokage?
“According to seniority, you have to call me Great-Great-Great-Grandmother.” Uchiha Hikari’s tone was calm, yet it exploded like thunder in Fugaku and Mikoto’s ears.
“Great……Great-Great-Great-Grandmother?! How is that possible?!” Fugaku’s pupils contracted sharply, unable to believe it.
When Uchiha Madara left, he took most of the historical records and secret technique scrolls.
Uchiha Fugaku was also born a year after Uchiha Madara’s departure, but he had never heard the clan elders mention that the Uchiha Clan had such a female Mangekyo Uchiha with terrifying eye power!
He tried to find any clues from the intelligence he had, but found everything blank, with no trace of the girl before him at all!
Mikoto was even more dumbfounded as she looked at the imposing girl wearing the Uchiha Clan Crest, the Mangekyo pattern in those eyes magnificent.
Mikoto’s heart surged with shock; as Fugaku’s wife and once a jonin of the Uchiha Clan, she knew too well how much pain it took to awaken the eyes.
Meanwhile, Sasuke Uchiha, who was playing nearby, curiously looked at this big sister’s eyes, thinking they were so pretty.
Menma looked down at Sasuke; the four-year-old Sasuke was already a bit handsome, but his eyes were still very innocent, completely without the aloof male god vibe from his debut in the main storyline memory.
Uchiha Hikari’s Mangekyo Sharingan looked at Fugaku again, like an elder from above: “Fugaku, right? The current head of the Uchiha Clan.”
Menma’s tone was arrogant as he commented on Uchiha Fugaku: “Your Mangekyo eye power is decent, but your disposition is too weak, lacking determination. You guard this decaying clan territory, willingly controlled by Konoha high-level officials, fantasizing that compromise will bring peace, not knowing it will only accelerate the Uchiha’s downfall.”
Shura’s voice was not loud, yet every word was like a blade, stabbing straight at Fugaku’s heart.
“The Uchiha Clan, once the strongest family in the ninja world, has now fallen to being suspected by the village and torn apart by internal contradictions. This is all because of you incompetent clan heads, without true foresight, without enough courage.” Shura’s words were filled with disappointment and disdain, as if stating an indisputable fact.
Fugaku’s face turned ashen.
The earlier illusion technique had let him see Uchiha Hikari’s formidable strength.
And now, Shura’s words laid bare the deepest fear and powerlessness in his heart.
Menma, wearing the white three-eyed fox mask, had been holding a teacup from start to finish, like a visiting guest, but his words were all truths; since the Nine-Tails Attack, the Uchiha pool had become stagnant water.
Menma leisurely accompanied Uchiha Hikari to visit Fugaku, the last clan head, also guessing that Uchiha Hikari still had some affection for the Uchiha Clan.
Menma’s voice echoed in the quiet living room: “We visit today to tell you that the current Konoha does not deserve to have the Uchiha Clan.”
“The contradictions between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha high council are intensifying; staying longer will only lead to clan extermination.”
Uchiha Hikari also spoke: “When the time is right, we will take away the remaining Uchiha clansmen and leave this decaying Konoha to find the true future belonging to the Uchiha!”
Her eyes shone with firm light, an unquestionable determination, and a verdict on Fugaku and even the entire Konoha high council.
Uchiha Fugaku struggled to maintain his Mangekyo Sharingan, his eyes still faintly stinging from the earlier illusion impact, but as the Uchiha Clan head, his dignity did not allow him to succumb.
Fugaku suddenly raised his head to meet the two opposite him; though his face was somewhat pale and cold sweat kept sliding down his forehead, those Mangekyo Sharingan eyes burned with unyielding rage.
“Absurd! No one can take away Konoha’s Uchiha Clan! Not even Uchiha Madara back then!”
“You, claiming to be an old ancestor, stood by during the Uchiha’s most perilous time, now suddenly appearing! One who dares not show his true face, yet here stirring up the relationship between the Uchiha Clan and the village! What exactly is your purpose?!”
He panted, his chest heaving violently, every word squeezed from his lungs, carrying unwillingness and anger: “The Uchiha have made great contributions to Konoha for generations; our clansmen were once the village’s sharpest blade! In the three ninja wars, our clan shed more blood than any family!”
“As clan head, for the family’s peace and continuation, I have racked my brains and endured humiliation; you dare call me ‘incompetent’? Do you know that the Uchiha Clan’s current predicament is not my sole responsibility? Why does the village high council suspect and guard us so much? Isn’t it the stain from the Nine-Tails Attack that cannot be washed away?!”
Fugaku’s tone suddenly became sharp and full of questions; his gaze locked tightly on the girl opposite, as if pouring out all the long-suppressed anger and doubts from his heart: “You call me incompetent, say I lead the Uchiha to downfall…… Then what about you! With such powerful eye power, yet never appearing in the living world, and I’ve never heard of any Uchiha bloodline scattered outside! Or perhaps, the Nine-Tails Attack was your doing?!”
Mikoto stood nearby, holding the somewhat frightened Sasuke, her eyes slightly red, lips tightly pressed.
She worriedly looked at Fugaku, then vigilantly at Uchiha Hikari and Shura.
Fugaku’s questions were bold, yet each word cut to the heart, voicing the Uchiha Clan’s long-hidden pain and the truth of their oppression; she knew this speech was very likely to anger these two unfathomable strong practitioners, but she also understood Fugaku’s anger and helplessness.
Seeing the enraged Uchiha Fugaku daring to meet her gaze.
A faint ripple flashed in Uchiha Hikari’s cold eyes, as she coldly stared at Fugaku.
Under Menma’s white three-eyed fox mask, the corners of his mouth curved into a meaningful arc.
“Tch, tough in front of us, but why don’t you glare at the Third Hokage with that look?”
That smile carried a hint of mockery, a hint of disdain, and a hint of deep understanding.
Uchiha Fugaku’s face flushed red, still wanting to defend the village.
“Heh……Nine-Tails Attack?” Shura’s voice came from under the mask, still calm, yet carrying a chilling intent.
“Your ridiculous suspicion proves how narrow your vision is and how little you understand this world.”
Menma chuckled inwardly, the corners of his mouth under the mask slightly upturned, his gaze subtly sweeping over Fugaku, then to Uchiha Hikari.
He was also happy to see the water stirred even muddier.
The more chaotic the Uchiha Clan, the higher the rebellious emotions within, bringing them closer to the Night of the Uchiha Clan Downfall.
Menma’s tone was full of contempt for Fugaku as he continued: “I disdain doing the tricks of rats hiding in shadows. We naturally know who the ‘mastermind’ behind the Nine-Tails Attack is. But…… even if I tell you, what can you do? With your ‘incompetence,’ what can you change? It would probably only accelerate the Uchiha Clan toward that predetermined clan extermination ending.”
These words did not directly answer the true culprit of the Nine-Tails Attack, yet clearly hinted that they knew everything; this profound attitude was far more oppressive than direct admission or denial, and more chilling.
Menma’s tone was leisurely: “I’ve already said, the ‘peace’ you believe in is just a slow-acting poison. You unilaterally maintain the village, yet never receive the respect and trust you deserve. When the village’s suspicion of the Uchiha Clan reaches its peak, when internal contradictions fully erupt, what can you resist with?”
Fugaku stared blankly at the white three-eyed fox mask before him; those eye holes seemed to see the fear and despair in his heart.
Menma continued: “Think carefully; how much have you Uchiha done for the village, how many died in the three ninja wars, yet because of one Nine-Tails Attack, suspected like this by Konoha high-level officials.”
Uchiha Hikari spoke at the right moment: “The Uchiha Clan never needs to explain anything to others, because they disdain it!”
Uchiha Hikari, from the Warring States Period, looked at the current Konoha’s Uchiha Clan like a tamed dog.
Fugaku’s body trembled from anger and shock; he opened his mouth, but found he could no longer make a sound.
Uchiha Hikari’s words were like an invisible blade, cutting open the deepest scar in his heart; that powerlessness over the family’s fate drowned him again like a tide.
He seemed to see the tragedy of being in the clan head position yet unable to turn the tide.
‘Do they really know? The true culprit of the Nine-Tails Attack……who is it? Could there be other Uchiha bloodlines outside besides them? Coveting the Nine-Tails’ power?’ Fugaku’s thoughts were in chaos, his mind constantly replaying those scarlet eyes during the Nine-Tails rampage.
‘Could it be……could it be that our Uchiha Clan was really used as a gun?!’ This thought made him shiver.
Seeing Fugaku unable to retort, a faint disappointment flashed in Uchiha Hikari’s eyes.
Menma nodded slightly to her: “It’s late; we’ve said what needs to be said, let’s go.”
Menma restrained the playful smile at his mouth; he glanced at Fugaku, his eyes carrying a superior scrutiny, as if looking at an ordinary beast still struggling.
Seeing the two rise to leave, Fugaku’s heart suddenly clenched; during the earlier clash of Mangekyo with the opponent, he had felt that near-crushing gap in eye power.
Moreover, there was Shura beside him; just days ago, the four main family elders of the Hyuga Clan had their eyes gouged, and neither the entire Hyuga Clan nor the Third Hokage’s jonin squad could stop him! Showing his formidable strength!
So even though anger and unwillingness filled Fugaku’s chest, his body instinctively stiffened, unable to make any blocking move.
He knew that in his current state, forcing action would only humiliate himself and possibly bring even more terrible consequences.
If the opponents really wanted to kill, the Uchiha Compound would inevitably be destroyed, and even Mikoto and Sasuke would……
As the two reached the veranda, about to leap out of the courtyard, Fugaku suddenly shouted hoarsely: “Wait! You! What is your name exactly?!”
Uchiha Hikari’s figure paused slightly in mid-air; she did not turn back, only her cold voice came with the wind, dissipating in the night: “Uchiha Hikari.”
