Chapter 31: Death Like The Wind
Li Ye’s current training was no longer eagerly converting Qi and Blood right after every meal; he followed Xu Yanwu’s words and tried to circulate energy twelve times at once.
He called this method “Twelve Circulations.”
This required 360 points of Qi and Blood for conversion. Li Ye would store up this much Qi and Blood before circulating energy all at once.
The complete Twelve Circulations did have benefits; it would give Li Ye an extra Breath of Qi, which he could release when necessary.
Just like a water gate, accumulating normally, but at critical moments, the gate could be opened to release a flood all at once, thereby gaining higher intensity—both speed and strength would explode.
And this water gate could be infinitely stacked, like a water gate where the water level only ever rises, without loss when the gate is opened.
But this requirement was even more exaggerated than normal training. Generally speaking, one needed at least Qi Blood Leap at a high level, able to withstand the Qi and Blood consumption of his Twelve Circulations, to perform it.
With Two Dragon Gate cultivation and Qi and Blood amount, it was naturally impossible. Normally, Li Ye shouldn’t have the intensity during training.
But he was cheating.
The Food Qi Method complemented his talent perfectly, even allowing him to store Qi and Blood with Authority, suppressing his ordinary Qi and Blood amount, and forcibly converting it into Twelve Circulations to refine what Martial Arts required.
He was even purer than what Xu Yanwu described. After all, Xu Yanwu never believed Li Ye could use Twelve Circulations at this stage and always said it was for later.
Every time, Li Ye would eat here, casually go through the motions of Martial Arts Training, then return to the Rental Room to cook rice while converting the stored Qi and Blood, completing Twelve Circulations.
In this Large Courtyard House, he spent more time familiarizing himself with moves.
His master said he was dying soon, so before dying, Li Ye had to check where his moves were lacking and correct them in time.
Another half month passed.
Night.
In the Large Courtyard House, Li Ye took a deep breath and nodded to Pan Zhengyang.
Pan Zhengyang grabbed a handful from the small mountain of Iron Blocks beside him, weighed one in his hand, and said, “Then catch it well.”
Whoosh!
With just a light toss, an Iron Block whistled through the air, rushing extremely fast toward Li Ye.
Li Ye dodged to the side, nearly grazing the speeding Iron Block. The extreme force made his hair whirl, but he wasn’t hit after all.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
Pan Zhengyang threw Iron Blocks one per hand at extreme speed, breaking through the wind like a barrage rushing straight over.
Facing the majority of Iron Blocks, Li Ye’s body seemed drunk, clearly swaying east and west, seemingly barely grazing past the Iron Blocks to dodge, but his center of gravity was stable, even allowing him to weave and dart continuously through the dense cluster of Iron Blocks.
Just like a dragon roaming the sky, piercing through the clouds.
“Again, catch it well!”
Seeing this, Pan Zhengyang laughed, stepped back, and kicked the remaining Iron Blocks.
Bang!
The remaining Iron Blocks shot out like a Shotgun Blast, without even a gap for a person to pass through. Even without getting close, one could feel the incoming wind force from its power.
Li Ye planted his feet firmly, eyes fixed on the incoming mass of Iron Blocks, circulating energy throughout his body, exhaling Turbid Qi, letting the Iron Blocks rush at him.
Clang!
Clang clang clang!!
Like striking a single Iron Block, the exploding Iron Blocks touched various parts of Li Ye’s body—from head, eyes, mouth, chest, abdomen, knees, even crotch—all hit, but only producing crisp sounds as they fell from his body.
Metal Clashing, indestructible body.
“Try a big one!”
Pan Zhengyang’s smile grew wider. He reached back, throwing a half-person-high Iron Block into the air.
Li Ye’s gaze followed the Iron Block upward. He slightly squatted his knees, then with a thud, jumped straight up. Hands in claws, he thrust forward, piercing into the Iron Block like Foam.
Rip!!
The half-person-high Iron Block was torn in two by Li Ye’s pull, and only then did he land lightly.
Looking closely, the edge of the Iron Block he gripped was like a plastic bag being held, forming wrinkles between his fingers.
Strength like a fierce tiger, claws splitting iron and stone.
“Though not Fine Iron, it’s still impressive enough. When I was at Dragon Gate Realm, I trained in top Martial Arts too, but at Three Dragon Gates, I wasn’t as capable as you.”
Pan Zhengyang smiled and turned to look at Xu Yanwu sitting on a grand master’s chair. “Are you satisfied with the disciple I found for you?”
Xu Yanwu slowly nodded and looked at Li Ye. “Come.”
Li Ye approached as instructed and stood before Xu Yanwu. “Master.”
By now, Li Ye had reached Three Dragon Gates.
The Rice in the Rental Room had been eaten up a few days ago. After packing up, he canceled the lease and only ate here.
Not only did he advance quickly, his moves were so standard that he developed his own style, executing moves in the way most suited to his body, without any hindrance.
He hadn’t planned to advance this fast, but five days ago, Xu Yanwu’s condition took a sharp turn for the worse. Previously still an ordinary person who could eat and walk, now he could only sit in the grand master’s chair, with his body starting to stiffen.
Xu Yanwu could still speak, and his guidance for Li Ye unconsciously sped up a bit. To not disappoint his master, Li Ye broke through without delay when it was time, reaching Three Dragon Gates during the day today.
Xu Yanwu gazed at Li Ye. “When your realm is higher later, you must circulate energy twelve times. Have you played games? It will make you like a BOSS, with a ‘second phase.'”
Then he looked at Pan Zhengyang. “Old Pan, after thirty years together, I have nothing to leave you. Passing down the Martial Arts gives me peace of mind for you too. This is good. Thank you.”
Pan Zhengyang seemed to sense something, a trace of reluctance in his eyes, but he immediately laughed and cursed: “Don’t talk nonsense! All these years, you’re the arrogant one, so damn cocky! If you really want to thank me, when you’re a bit better, treat me to a big drinking party, find some girls, and by the way, break your virginity!”
Xu Yanwu smiled at this, but this smile was even more chilling.
“I don’t have a family either. My ancestors died long ago, so I’m basically an orphan. No need for any spirit tablet. After death, burn me to ash and let it scatter on a windy day. All these years, I haven’t properly seen the World. Hope I can see it after death.”
He said to Li Ye again: “Train well and see the scenery above Martial Arts. I won’t see it anymore, so let you, my successor, see it for our lineage.”
Seeing this, Li Ye dropped to his knees with a thud, said nothing more, and kowtowed three loud heads, each with full force, cracking the stone slabs.
On the last one, Li Ye didn’t raise his head. “Master, rest assured, I will definitely do it!”
Opposite, there was no more sound.
“Old Xu!”
Pan Zhengyang’s somewhat choked voice rang out.
Li Ye jerked his head up and saw Xu Yanwu steadily sitting in the grand master’s chair, with a faint smile—not his usual cold face—frozen in the moonlight.
