Chapter 244: All Regrets Will Be Filled
Last night, her fingernails dug into his back muscles as they kissed deeply. Spirit and flesh, all intertwined.
It spread into dreams, filled with endless tender affection.
The next day, early morning.
The morning light streamed through the curtains onto Lian Li’s face, her long, curled eyelashes fluttering gently.
Her whole body ached, and she couldn’t help but let out a low moan.
The mobile phone on the bedside table vibrated.
Lian Li opened her eyes and saw Jin Shi Yue’s face; he was still asleep.
Her elbow pressed against the bed sheet, and she pushed herself up, reaching for her mobile phone. As she fumbled for it, she inadvertently glanced at her smooth calves.
Looking up slightly, one could see her body was covered in passionate marks. The skin below her collarbone was covered in numerous hickeys, looking extremely intimate.
Lian Li found her mobile phone and opened the unread messages.
Xue Shufan sent her a photograph: 【 Lili, look what I got from Wen Zhixing! 】
【 A photo of you performing the cello in Hong Kong, with Jin Shi Yue in it. 】
Lian Li tapped the picture to view it. The photograph showed not only her and Jin Shi Yue, but also Jin Yan Ting.
The shooting angle was from the back rows of the concert hall. As the concert ended and the audience began to leave, Jin Shi Yue, wearing a black shirt, stood with his hands in his pockets, looking up at the stage.
On stage, Lian Li, holding a bouquet of lilies and jasmine, was chatting sweetly with Jin Yan Ting.
The light and shadow sharply divided the stage from the audience. Lian Li and Jin Yan Ting stood in the light, while Jin Shi Yue was in the darkness.
Amidst the crowd, only the faces of the three of them were clear.
What was she talking to Jin Yan Ting about at that time?
In any case, she never once looked at Jin Shi Yue.
Lian Li’s eyes inexplicably began to sting, and the tears that he had wiped away and kissed off last night overflowed once more.
Suddenly, a familiar large hand gripped her wrist, forcefully pulling her into the man’s secure embrace.
“Where does it hurt?” Jin Shi Yue’s voice, hoarse from waking up, sounded above her.
Lian Li tilted her head back, her misty apricot eyes meeting his gaze.
Jin Shi Yue’s dark eyes locked onto her, as if to hold her for a lifetime.
Lian Li shook her head: “It doesn’t hurt.”
“Then why are you crying?” Jin Shi Yue asked.
Lian Li placed her right hand on his waist, shrinking further into his chest, their bodies pressing even closer.
“Jin Shi Yue, I’ll give you a promise too.”
Her face buried in his chest, her voice muffled and trembling slightly, yet filled with utmost sincerity:
“From now on, I will fulfill all your wishes.”
Jin Shi Yue’s heart skipped a beat.
He raised his eyebrows and smiled, his Adam’s apple bobbing, and he lowered his head to kiss her forehead.
You are my entire desire.
–
Jin Shi Yue was returning to the country today.
He brought the God of Wealth with him but didn’t take him back to Jing University; he specifically left him to accompany Lian Li, so she would think of him daily.
In the early morning, as the sun rose, bathing the villa’s back garden in golden light.
Lian Li stood on the steps, watching the sun rise behind Jin Shi Yue, and couldn’t help but smile.
She didn’t see him off at the airport; they chose to part at home.
Jin Shi Yue walked to the car door and looked back.
With just one glance, Lian Li suddenly ran over, dashing from the shade of the eaves towards the man in the dawn light, like a brave young beast pouncing into his arms.
Jin Shi Yue’s stance was steady; he didn’t step back at all, firmly catching the girl he loved.
Lian Li wrapped her arms around his waist, stood on her tiptoes, and placed a soft, gentle kiss on his lips.
“Have a safe trip.”
“Wait for me at home,” Jin Shi Yue said, ruffling her hair.
Lian Li nodded, her eyes shining as she looked at him: “I’ll miss you.”
“Miss me every day?” Jin Shi Yue raised his eyebrows lazily, his voice casual.
“Mhm!” Lian Li replied, “Every day.”
“Miss me a little less,” Jin Shi Yue said, looking at her, his voice deep. “If you cry, I’ll be the unlucky one.”
Lian Li immediately said: “Okay, then I won’t miss you.”
Jin Shi Yue laughed in exasperation: “I said miss me a little less, not not at all.”
“Oh.” Lian Li’s eyes curved into a smile as she responded.
The moon waxes and wanes; shining on each other is eternity.
They have a long future ahead.
All regrets will be filled.
The light gray sedan started and slowly drove away from the villa manor.
Jin Shi Yue leaned back lazily against the seat, lifting his eyelids, and watched Lian Li’s figure in the rearview mirror.
Just like back then, an accidental glance that amazed all the years.
She would continue to run forward, towards grand freedom, towards supreme glory.
The sedan disappeared from view.
Lian Li withdrew her gaze, bent down, and softened her voice as she spoke to the God of Wealth: “Your master has returned to the country, so it’s just us here now.”
The God of Wealth shook his large body and barked twice, looking up: “Woof woof.”
“Miss Lian,” Li Shuangjie called to Lian Li, reminding her to get in the car, as it was time to go to school.
Lian Li glanced at Li Shuangjie, then lowered her head to say goodbye to the God of Wealth: “I’m leaving too. You stay home and behave today, and I’ll give you extra food tonight.”
The God of Wealth barked excitedly, whether he understood or not.
Lian Li got into the car, unzipped her schoolbag, and took out the love letter Jin Shi Yue had written for her from the innermost pocket.
The marriage certificate was quite large, made of red Xuan paper with gold-embossed characters, suitable for framing and hanging.
“Can you help me find a picture frame for it in the next few days?” Lian Li said to Li Shuangjie.
“How big?” Li Shuangjie asked, holding the steering wheel.
Lian Li thought carefully, worried about not being precise enough, and said, “I’ll tell you when I get back tonight.”
Li Shuangjie agreed and focused on driving.
Lian Li unfolded the letter and read it from beginning to end. She put the love letter away only when she arrived at school, returning to her normal academic life.
Princeton’s mathematics major is renowned worldwide. It gathers many top mathematicians, conducting cutting-edge and in-depth research in various fields of pure mathematics such as algebra, geometry, and number theory, as well as in applied mathematics.
Before high school, Lian Li had only studied and taken exams in mathematics in a conventional manner, never participating in any competitions. Later, after the college entrance examination, she read a report online about the genius mathematician John Forbes Nash winning the Nobel Prize in Economics.
It was then that she decided to major in mathematics at Jing University. Dr. John Forbes Nash had completed his doctoral studies at Princeton University.
Lu Huier often said she had wasted a lot of time; if she had entered the field of mathematics earlier, as a top specialized talent, she would probably be in a research institute by now.
Lian Li had no regrets. She had previously focused too much on finding her mother, which often made her overlook other things.
Looking back, everything was good now.
The professors here were all approachable, allowing Lian Li to communicate directly with top experts and scholars in various fields, keeping her too busy to think about Jin Shi Yue.
Returning home at night, she would look at the empty villa, and only then would longing have a chance to grow.
After dinner, Lian Li went into the study room, measured the size of the marriage certificate, and informed Li Shuangjie what kind of picture frame to prepare.
