Chapter 145: Better To Have Given Birth To A Piece Of Char Siu
Ge Hai: “!!!”
“Mom!” Ge Hai yelled, scrambling to dodge to the side. The axe clanged heavily onto the floor, chopping a crack into it.
Ge Hai trembled as he looked along the direction of the axe, and what he saw was his father who had died many years ago. His face was full of shock: “Dad?!”
“W-what are you doing!”
Why did he grab the axe to chop at him without a word?
“Dad? You still dare to call me Dad! You unfilial son! Who allowed you to sell the family’s old house! Fine if you sold it! But you even left your old man in that place without taking me away! Almost causing me to hurt someone!”
Old Master Ge’s face was ashen as he pointed at him and cursed furiously, spittle flying. After cursing, he still felt unsatisfied and chased after Ge Hai with the axe, hacking at him: “I’ll fucking beat you to death, you unfilial son!”
“Back when your mom gave birth to you, I should have just strangled you to death!”
Ge Hai was chased by him, yelling in panic, running desperately with all his might, tears and snot scared out of him: “Father Father! Listen to me explain! I had no choice either!”
“After you left, the factory’s business ran into problems! To save the factory’s business, I had to invest with someone. Who knew that person was a swindler! All the money I had was swindled away! And I still owe a huge debt!”
“To repay debt, I had to sell everything sellable in the house! Selling the old house was out of necessity too! When I have money later, I’ll definitely buy it back!”
“As for why I didn’t take you away, wasn’t it because you liked that place while alive and it wasn’t easy to move? Dad, you have to understand me, Dad!”
“Understand you my ass! You plague-ridden thing! When I left, the factory was doing just fine, and I even specially asked your Uncle Xu to help look after it. Your sister is capable too! How could the business go wrong so quickly?!”
Old Master Ge’s face grew even darker, swinging the axe without any mercy: “You’re still lying to me even now! You really think there’s nothing I can do to you after I’m gone, huh?”
Ge Hai’s heart skipped a beat. He really couldn’t run anymore either. He stopped, turned around extraordinarily smoothly, and knelt down with a thud, closing his eyes and shouting loudly: “Dad, I didn’t mean to. I-I just wanted to gamble a little for fun!”
Ge Hai didn’t dare open his eyes to look at Old Master Ge: “I didn’t mean to lose the family factory either. It was that guy surnamed Wang who set me up, Dad!”
Old Master Ge heard his words and nearly exploded with rage, his soul almost scattering. He trembled as he kicked him, demanding: “You fucking went gambling again? What did you promise me when I left?!”
Ge Hai was like a roly-poly toy, kicked askew but righting himself again. He sneaked a glance at Old Master Ge and stuck out his pinky: “I just wanted to gamble a tiny little bit. I didn’t expect…”
Old Master Ge: “How much did you lose this time?”
Ge Hai swallowed, saying softly: “N-not much. Plus interest, just over ninety million or so…”
Old Master Ge’s vision went black. Ninety million wasn’t much! That was almost a billion! The total assets of the factory he left to Ge Hai were only fifty million!
No wonder, no wonder he sold the old house! Probably not just the old house—other properties were sold clean by him too!
“Dad, I know I was wrong. I definitely won’t gamble next time!” Ge Hai knelt on both knees, inching closer to Old Master Ge: “This time I’ll definitely do business honestly with my friend! Don’t be angry anymore. Bless me more from below too. When I make big money, I’ll definitely buy all the houses back!”
Old Master Ge glowered coldly at him: “What about your mom? Who is she living with now?”
He had worked desperately to earn money in his early years, and his health was worse than his wife’s, so he passed a few years before her.
After he left, his wife moved back to live in the old house. When he was awake, he would accompany her. Later he fell asleep, and when he woke again, he never saw her again.
He didn’t know how she was doing now either.
Ge Hai’s eyes flickered, stammering: “Mom, Mom is doing great now, wearing gold and silver, with a nanny serving her. Sister gives her money every month too. Don’t worry about her…”
Old Master Ge stared at him, making Ge Hai more and more guilty until he couldn’t speak: “Aiya! Dad! Don’t you know me? Am I the kind of person who would let Mom suffer!”
“A person who could even sell his old man’s urn—how good could he be to his own old lady?” Old Master Ge sneered, raising the axe in his hand: “Your mom and I giving birth to you was a mistake! You might as well not live! Come down and take care of me!”
With that, Old Master Ge swung the axe fiercely toward his neck amid Ge Hai’s terrified gaze.
“Grandpa Ge!!” A childish voice suddenly rang out. A white light flashed before Ge Hai’s eyes. He screamed in terror and abruptly sat up in bed.
Ge Hai sat on the bed panting heavily. It took a long time before he slowly came back to his senses. Looking at the messy room, he touched his neck with lingering fear: “Was it a dream?”
This dream was too realistic. He really thought his neck was going to be chopped off by his deceased old man!
Could it be that he really sold the old house back home, his father found out, and got angry?
Ge Hai wiped the cold sweat beading on his forehead, sat on the bed to recover for a bit, then laboriously moved his fat body off the bed. Wearing slippers, he went out ticking ticking to find water to drink.
When he picked up the kettle, he realized there was no water in it. Frowning unhappily, he shouted: “Mom! The kettle’s empty! Why didn’t you boil some!”
No one in the room responded to him.
“Did she go out again?” Ge Hai poked his head out to look. Not seeing his mother in the living room, he tsked, carried the kettle into the kitchen planning to boil water, and then saw the thin figure collapsed in the kitchen, head full of blood.
Ge Hai: “!!!”
He hurriedly went forward to pick up Ge’s mother: “Mom! Mom! What happened to you, Mom! Don’t scare me, Mom!”
“Call 120, call 120. Mom! Wake up, Mom!”
–
Meanwhile.
Nan Yuanman frowned as she looked at Old Master Ge, who was emanating thick malevolent Qi and on the verge of turning into an evil ghost. Unhappily, she said: “Grandpa Ge, didn’t I tell you to stay calm?”
“If I hadn’t reacted fast just now, you would have turned into an evil ghost!”
Old Master Ge gripped the axe tightly, his eyes turning crimson, his whole body surrounded by ghost energy and full of grievance: “I just can’t swallow this anger! Such a good family, ruined by that unfilial son!”
Aunt Zheng couldn’t help but ask curiously: “What did your son say to you?”
Old Master Ge hesitated to speak, finally closing his eyes wearily: “Forget it. Family ugliness shouldn’t be aired in public. These children—they’re all debts!”
He looked at Liu Jiawei and sincerely bowed in apology: “This was indeed my misunderstanding. Sorry, young man. There’s still some gold in the bottom left drawer of the storage room in this house. It’s what I saved in my early years. Take it as medical fees and compensation for this little fat doll helping me enter the dream.”
Liu Jiawei was flattered: “It’s fine, it’s fine. As long as you don’t scare me and my wife anymore.”
Old Master Ge wanted to say more when the originally closed door was suddenly opened from outside without warning.
