Chapter 250: Rescue
This was the first time Nan Yuanman had seen such a horrific scene, and she was momentarily stunned in place, feeling both angry and sad inside.
“Yuanman, calm down, calm down, you’re the best!” Nan Yuanman cheered herself on silently, took two steps forward with her short legs pattering, quickly rummaged in her small shoulder bag with her hands, and said with her little mouth chattering:
“Don’t be afraid, I’m here to save you. I have medicine talismans. Soon, your bodies won’t hurt anymore.”
Feng Jingcheng and Xie Shuyao also walked over. After seeing the situation inside clearly, Feng Jingcheng’s face instantly darkened, and Xie Shuyao covered her mouth: “This…”
“Call the police.” Feng Jingcheng’s voice was dry as he said to Xie Shuyao.
Currently in China, the laws regarding animals are not yet perfected, and just animal abuse alone like abusing cats and dogs is not enough to convict Zhou Baiyu and send him to jail.
But once it involves people, the nature changes.
Feng Jingcheng looked at the emaciated, barely clothed child locked in a cage like a wild beast, gritted his teeth and cursed silently: “Beast…”
Just now, Xie Shuyao had really hit too lightly.
Xie Shuyao tremblingly took out her mobile phone and called the police. Feng Jingcheng held his breath and walked with Nan Yuanman toward the cage holding the little boy to check on the boy curled up in the corner, already in a coma.
The little boy lying on the ground hadn’t figured out the situation and was still completely bewildered.
When Feng Jingcheng tried to pick him up out of the cage first, he reacted strongly, quickly scrambling backward, screaming from his mouth: “Don’t touch me!!”
Feng Jingcheng was stunned in place, at a loss.
The little boy reacted and froze in place, looked up at Feng Jingcheng with a fawning smile: “I know, I know this is Mister’s test again, right?”
“Please tell Mister, I won’t run away again!” His face was full of panic and fear: “Really! I swear! I definitely won’t run!”
Seeing him like this, Feng Jingcheng felt heartbroken. He opened his mouth, gritted his teeth and explained: “It’s not a test. I have nothing to do with that beast. I’m here to save you all.”
The little boy looked distrustful and stubbornly refused to come out of the cage.
While they were tugging, Nan Yuanman was the first to crawl inside and stuck the medicine talisman in her hand onto the other little boy lying unconscious on the ground.
The little boy lying on the ground’s pupils shrank sharply, and he quickly crawled toward Nan Yuanman, screaming: “Do whatever to me! Don’t hurt my brother!”
“I’m not hurting him. I’m using the medicine talisman to protect his heart meridians. His condition isn’t good.” Nan Yuanman quickly backed away and explained to him: “If I don’t use the medicine talisman to protect his heart meridians, he’s going to die.”
The little boy still didn’t believe them, like a provoked little beast, tightly guarding the comatose boy.
While Nan Yuanman’s attention was fully on the little boy, in the other cage holding the two little girls, the slightly older little girl was holding something in her hand and slowly approached the edge of the cage.
Xie Shuyao sensed something and turned to look, just in time to see that little girl throw a big clump of dry poop at Feng Jingcheng’s back.
Xie Shuyao: “!! Oh my god! Feng Jingcheng, dodge quickly!!”
Feng Jingcheng instinctively dodged, and the clump of dry poop brushed past his body and splatted on the ground.
This was just the beginning. No one knew how much dry poop this girl had stockpiled; one after another, clumps kept flying out.
Nan Yuanman had picked up cow dung in the countryside, but she’d never seen a scene like this. She quickly took out a talisman and turned it into a golden shield in front of Feng Jingcheng and herself to block the poop attack.
Helplessly, she pulled Feng Jingcheng back outside.
Feng Jingcheng’s face turned green, but he couldn’t lose his temper, so he irritably said: “The little brats inside don’t trust us. We can only wait for the police to arrive.”
Xie Shuyao was still shaken by the poop attack just now: “No choice. I really… hit too lightly earlier.”
She should have beaten Zhou Baiyu to death directly!
Feng Jingcheng nodded in agreement: “Indeed, too lightly.”
As he lowered his head, he saw Nan Yuanman thoughtfully looking toward the room inside, and a bad premonition suddenly surged in his heart: “Bao’er, what are you thinking?”
“I’m thinking, my talismans have less power against people. When people cause trouble, the talismans might not deter them. But throwing talismans won’t work—throwing poop will!”
She had witnessed the power of poop attacks. Perhaps… she could store some cow dung in the small coffin?
Xiao Hong: “…”
Xiao Hong, realizing what she was thinking, emitted an especially strong sense of refusal.
No! She didn’t want her noble body filled with cow dung!!
Feng Jingcheng: “…”
Feng Jingcheng felt unwell just thinking about Nan Yuanman pulling out poop instead of talismans later. He quickly shook his head: “No no no, forget the deterrence of throwing poop—not to mention that, just holding it in your hand isn’t hygienic! Do you want to become a stinky little brat?”
Nan Yuanman regretfully: “Then never mind.”
However, if she couldn’t throw poop, she could research talismans that emit a stinky smell.
Hmm, after this is over, she’ll study it properly.
Fortunately, the police didn’t keep them waiting long. Ten minutes later, they called Xie Shuyao.
Xie Shuyao first took Nan Yuanman out of the basement, leaving Feng Jingcheng below to guard.
When leaving the basement, Nan Yuanman didn’t forget to bring along the calico cat still hiding in the operating room.
The calico cat was very clingy to Nan Yuanman. As soon as she held it, it nuzzled its head into her chest, wanting to get inside her clothes.
Nan Yuanman simply pulled her overalls outward a bit, stuffed the little calico cat into her chest, and took it out just like that.
After meeting the police, Xie Shuyao led them back to the basement.
Nan Yuanman knew there was nothing for her to do next, so she didn’t stay by the swimming pool but ran to the living room instead.
She hadn’t forgotten that there was still someone in the living room lying there with a sleep talisman on him!
But when she arrived in the living room, the spot where Zhou Wenxuan had been lying was empty.
Nan Yuanman scratched her head, bewildered: “Huh? Where’s the person?”
A servant saw Nan Yuanman and hurried over to tell her: “Miss Nan, are you looking for Young Master Wenxuan? Young Master Wenxuan’s parents came earlier and took him back. He asked me to pass on a message that he’ll play with you next time.”
Nan Yuanman nodded: “Okay, then play with him next time.”
She still had a bit of fondness for this Zhou Wenxuan who seemed not very smart but had clean, clear eyes.
She hoped he wouldn’t have an episode.
She didn’t like him after he had an episode.
Since Zhou Wenxuan had left, Nan Yuanman didn’t stay in the living room and turned back to the swimming pool area.
Soon, the police brought up the bruised and swollen burly man and the unconscious Zhou Baiyu.
Besides them, there were also the four children Nan Yuanman had seen.
When the little boy was brought out by the police, he was still a bit dazed. He stared blankly at the blue sky and white clouds before him, utterly incredulous inside.
They were really… saved?
That little girl really hadn’t lied to him.
The little boy flattened his mouth and burst into uncontrollable sobs.
He was finally saved, finally able to see his dad and mom again!
The police heard his crying, feeling sour, sad, and angry inside. The stretcher holding Zhou Baiyu that they were carrying “accidentally” bumped into the staircase edge. Amid their exclamations, Zhou Baiyu on the stretcher tumbled down the stairs.
“Oops! Sorry, bumped into it by accident.” The doctors gave insincere apologies and hurried down to put Zhou Baiyu back on the stretcher.
Nan Yuanman didn’t feel great inside either. She pursed her lips and rummaged in her small shoulder bag, pulled out a piece of candy, unwrapped it, ran to the little boy’s stretcher, stood on tiptoes, and stuffed it into his mouth: “Brother, eat candy. It’s very sweet.”
The sweet candy spread in his mouth. The little boy hadn’t tasted sweetness in who knows how long. He sniffled and looked at Nan Yuanman, sincerely saying: “Th-thank you.”
As soon as he spoke, invisible golden light slowly drifted from his body and wobbled onto Nan Yuanman.
Nan Yuanman’s mind cleared, and a few more strands of merit power appeared in her Spiritual Platform.
She pursed her lips and smiled: “You’re welcome.”
She didn’t just give to the little boy either. Besides the critically ill little boy who was rushed away, she took out a few more and gave them to the two little girls.
What happened next had nothing to do with Nan Yuanman. Xie Shuyao took full charge, including arranging for the rescued cats and dogs.
Feng Jingcheng and Nan Yuanman went to give statements, then got in the car to go home.
After getting in the car, Feng Jingcheng belatedly realized: “Wait, Zhou Baiyu was so enthusiastic inviting us to his house to play— he doesn’t have designs on you, does he?”
He had just seen that the little girl locked up was only five or six years old, same age as Yuanman.
If he had no intentions, why invite them to his house right after the first meeting?
Just then, Feng Jingcheng’s mobile phone buzzed. He took it out and saw it was some information messages from Xie Shuyao about what she’d just looked up.
Feng Jingcheng’s face suddenly became extremely ugly: “Fuck!”
“This dog thing is a pedophile too!”
