Lovecraftian World, But I Spread Curses – Chapter 278

Sheep

Chapter 278: Sheep

Another blessing, could it be from that mantis monster?

Fang Mu’s mind flashed with that figure he had never clearly seen but left a deep impression on him; his two crossings were ultimately both related to its attack.

However, Fang Mu always felt that the mantis monster seemed “too simple,” at least compared to the toad god, that kind of dimensional abnormal god; it lacked a unique temperament.

Although the mantis monster gave him a much stronger feeling than the toads and frog people in the Nong Mountain cave, if he had to classify the mantis monster, he would probably put it in the same category as them.

The mantis monster was more like kin or servant of another abnormal god, and that abnormal god’s status was far higher than the toad god’s by many times.

Slurp, baa…

Licked by the little goat beside him, that dumb sheep face was curiously looking at Fang Mu; Fang Mu somewhat helplessly pushed the little goat away, then squeezed a bit more toward the corner.

At this moment, he was squeezed together with the sheep in the same truck; the cab up front had no space left, so in an emergency, hitching a ride meant not being too picky; squeezing with the sheep was fine.

But strangely, the little goat that was pushed away seemed not to feel his rejection at all, still shamelessly coming closer, as if it had taken a liking to him; in contrast, the other sheep around it seemed to see a terrifying being and all crowded to the edge of the truck, standing as far from Fang Mu as possible, staring at him with their flock of sheep’s unique rectangular pupils, fearing and wary of him.

It’s said that animals’ sixth sense is much stronger than that of humans living too comfortably; Fang Mu, who received various blessings of unknown origin from abnormal gods, should naturally be feared by animals; in Fang Mu’s view, the flock of sheep’s reaction was normal, and this little goat was the abnormal one.

In Western legends, sheep are the devil’s animals, with goats at the forefront; you know, in their various circulating strange classics, the devil’s image is often related to goats, such as demons with goat horns, devils with goat legs in the lower body, etc.; meanwhile, this animal’s unique rectangular pupil shape is different from other beings, and staring into those eyes for long makes people unconsciously generate unease and an eerie feeling.

Fang Mu realized the strangeness of this little goat, so he reversed his earlier attitude and directly scooped it up, then checked this little goat that wasn’t afraid of it.

The little guy thought Fang Mu was playing with him and also enjoyed Fang Mu’s stroking-like fiddling with its hair, bleating happily, obediently snuggling against Fang Mu’s body, letting him do as he pleased.

When Fang Mu parted the hair on the little guy’s hind leg, Fang Mu froze, and then a look of chill appeared on his face.

He saw that at that spot on this little goat, someone had maliciously carved a special symbol similar to maggots and various cattle, horse, and sheep features piled together; beneath the skin of that symbol, something like bugs was faintly wriggling and breeding.

“Are you also entangled by a blessing?” Fang Mu rubbed the head of this obedient and affectionate little goat, then silently turned back to look at those people sitting in the cab; just one glance, and Fang Mu’s brain keenly sensed a danger signal, his whole body’s muscles tensing up.

He saw that the people sitting in the cab had all turned to look back at him at some point, even the driver occasionally glancing at him through the rearview mirror; their faces all bore eerie smiles; if Fang Mu’s eyes weren’t wrong, he seemed to see something like centipedes or scorpions protruding a section of body from the mouths of two of them, still wriggling alive.

Seeing this eerie scene, Fang Mu couldn’t help cursing inwardly; he knew he had gotten on the wrong truck, not just any black car, but probably one preparing some deadly sinister business.

Fang Mu pretended not to see, calmly continuing to pet the goat, while inwardly calculating how to escape the danger.

Baa…

In an instant, in Fang Mu’s eyes, the little goat in his hand turned into a sheep bone frame covered in rotten flesh, ferocious in appearance; obviously, his occasionally out of control ability’s eyes were persecuting him again.

Fang Mu disgustedly tossed the little goat aside, looking at the sky, not daring to look at anything around him besides the sky, because he knew at this time, those things must have turned into forms he didn’t want to recognize.

But this little goat really liked sticking to Fang Mu too much; it came close again on its own, its goat head appearing in his field of vision; this time, the little goat’s form had undergone even more twisted mutation: its head bloomed open like a flower, the “flower petals” covered in fangs, the pitch-black flower center spitting out two wriggling, swaying ugly black flesh worms.

Fang Mu’s heart tightened; he knew that at some future moment, this little goat would turn into this hideous and terrifying form.

Out of fear, Fang Mu pushed the little goat away again, his eyes involuntarily looking forward, only to see in the spacetime background flashing with scarlet, the originally terrified and trembling flock of sheep around him had turned into a group of dazed-faced, hunched humanoid creatures; their mouths full of fangs, bent backs, limbs especially hind legs extremely muscular, veins bulging.

They all took the monster the little goat turned into as leader, viewing Fang Mu as some kind of food being.

Fang Mu felt an urge to jump off the truck and escape immediately, but the truck owner seemed to guess his thoughts and suddenly floored the accelerator; thus speeding on the mountain road without guardrails; if Fang Mu really jumped in this situation, death was probable, severe injury inevitable.

Fang Mu nervously gripped the truck’s guardrails on both sides, his body feeling the weightless thrill amid the vehicle’s sharp turns; the flock of sheep without his ability to grab the guardrails panicked and tumbled back and forth in the truck, colliding; a few unlucky goats broke legs on the spot, eyes directly gouged by sharp objects on the truck, eyeballs dragged out connected by ligaments, miserable and bloody to the extreme.

Tossed and turned, circling around, not knowing how long it lasted, Fang Mu was already made legs weak, dizzy and nauseous by the high speed and complex road conditions; only when it finally stopped did his nausea not worsen further.

Urp!

Fang Mu vomited uncontrollably; in confusion and panic, he heard the car door open, people getting off the truck; then he was yanked off by a great force and slammed hard onto the ground.

Fang Mu struggled to get up, but was stepped on the back, his arched waist pressed to the ground, immediately letting out a sound of pain.

“This kid has fine skin and tender meat, a good skin bag; the goddess should like this the most.” Fang Mu heard the one stepping on his back say with a ferocious laugh.

The one beside said: “The goddess’s food isn’t afraid of being too much, but too little; this guy delivered to the door is just right to use.”

Though physiologically dizzy, Fang Mu whose thoughts weren’t chaotic suddenly felt something wrong; was he about to be sent as a meal to some abnormal god?
