Chapter 183: Encounter Again
These are stone statues that escaped from the room?
Zhang Qian, who was lying in front of the door crack, was startled and made no further actions, planning to first see the specific situation before saying anything.
This thing is far more troublesome than the headworm, not to mention the unknown terror intensity, even the attack pattern is only a rough deduction.
If possible, Zhang Qian would rather it be those headworms outside than see this eerie thing again.
More importantly, the bustling figures have now occupied most of the space in the aisle, their silhouettes intersecting, and the already dim electric lights are now blocked from most of their brightness.
But those grayish-white limbs are still very conspicuous, exactly the same as the stone statue that blocked the door earlier.
However, the postures of these stone statues are slightly different from before, with many stone statues covering their eyes with their hands, as if crying.
The situation isn’t good…
Not to mention these strange actions, just this number alone makes Zhang Qian feel a headache.
These stone statues seem to be able to replicate; clearly there were only a mere two when Zhang Qian left, but now the number is too many to count.
There are already over a dozen in just the field of view from this crack, who knows how many are hidden in the blind spots of sight.
Zhang Qian’s mood was somewhat heavy, but he didn’t dare to shift his line of sight.
Right now, these figures have no actions, just hanging their heads low, quietly standing on the ground looking harmless to humans and animals.
But all this is premised on the line of sight staring at them; once Zhang Qian shifts his line of sight, these motionless, seemingly dead stone statues will turn into terrifying fierce ghosts.
“What’s the situation outside? Can we leave from here?” The mannequin’s mouth opened.
At this moment, it was shrunk behind Zhang Qian, its round head poking out from beside his feet, one black and one white eyes both looking toward that door crack.
But from the mannequin’s perspective, there was only pitch black inside the door crack, no way to see more things.
“Outside the door isn’t the garbage room, it’s the aisle we just escaped from. And the aisle is full of those eerie stone statues; to leave alive, we probably can’t take this path.” Zhang Qian said.
Just as he was about to close the door, he noticed more details.
This aisle itself seemed to have undergone some changes; many previously closed doorways had somehow opened, including some shattered ones with only fragments of door panels left.
It was as if something was searching for a way to leave the aisle but couldn’t find the pattern, so it randomly opened doors.
Clearly, these traces were made by the stone statues.
After Zhang Qian left the cabin, this ghostly thing surprisingly hadn’t given up and was still trying to find traces of Zhang Qian and the mannequin’s existence in the rooms.
“Good thing the fierce ghost has no brain and didn’t observe our previous action route.” Zhang Qian murmured.
“If it’s just randomly messing around, it’s indeed unlikely to trigger this pattern by luck. The person who designed the ghost ship probably anticipated this day, so they set this rule…”
He felt some lingering fear; if this thing got out, it would be difficult to lock them back in the aisle again.
Zhang Qian shifted his attention to the various corners and couldn’t help feeling a bit strange, “This mannequin opened so many room doorways, yet the fierce ghosts inside the rooms didn’t fight it?”
Even if occasionally a few fierce ghosts in the rooms approached deadlock, it couldn’t be that every room was like that.
Moreover, fierce ghosts won’t hold back just because the target isn’t human; once they act, almost only one can survive.
Logically, with so many doorways opened at once, the aisle should be a chaotic melee of demons.
However, aside from these stone statues, Zhang Qian didn’t discover traces of other fierce ghosts; it seems the idea of reaping the benefits and picking up some materials in the chaos is stillborn.
Did they not fight, or is the fight already over?
Maybe the second guess is more likely.
“No damaged stone statues seen, meaning this was a crushing game? The supernatural strength of these stone statues is actually this high?”
This could probably be considered an example of brute force creating miracles, right?
Clearly, fierce ghosts have all sorts of abilities, with attack methods bizarre and varied, yet they can’t beat the simpler and more brutal stone statues.
At least from the previous experience, the stone statue’s attack seems to be just close-range scratching, and not even fast; as long as you’re mentally prepared, it’s easy to stop the attack in advance.
Perhaps they are the legendary one-trick ponies, having put all points into attack making their means very singular, but perfecting that single means to the extreme.
“Even the cabin door was damaged under such an attack; if scratched once, the consequences would probably be much more severe than being attacked by the severed limb ghost.”
Touching the healed wound on his waist, Zhang Qian felt that if he were grabbed once, it wouldn’t be just losing a layer of skin; probably half his kidney would be dug out.
“What’s the situation outside?” Seeing Zhang Qian show no abnormalities for so long, the mannequin crawled a bit forward from under his crotch.
Pressed against the door crack, the mannequin’s line of sight shifted back and forth, still seeing nothing.
But the situation in the aisle changed somewhat due to its arrival.
“Still can’t see? No way, this ghost eye is at least a fierce ghost’s eye, yet it can’t compare to you?”
The mannequin muttered to itself, “How do you have every ability; how long have you been a ghost controller, how many fierce ghosts have you controlled on you…”
“Close your eyes.” Zhang Qian suddenly interrupted the chattering mannequin.
The mannequin was stunned for a moment but obediently did so.
Zhang Qian stared intently at the corridor ahead; as the mannequin’s line of sight disappeared, a magical scene appeared.
A stone statue with its head hanging low suddenly appeared out of thin air in the center of the stone statue group; although most of its form was obscured, Zhang Qian still keenly captured its figure.
However, even with Zhang Qian’s attention so focused, he still didn’t see clearly how this process happened, as if it were a copy-pasted image, completed in an instant.
“Thought I saw wrong, but it really happened…” Zhang Qian said in a low voice.
At this time, the mannequin also opened its eyes and asked curiously, “What happened.”
Looking at the stone statue that disappeared into thin air again, Zhang Qian explained, “While you were looking at the aisle, one stone statue disappeared, meaning the rule that two lines of sight can cancel out one stone statue still exists.
“But what I’m more curious about is the definition of this line of sight; you can definitely see more than one stone statue now, so all the stone statues in this area should disappear together.”
“But in reality, only that one stone statue disappeared.”
