Chapter 206: Late Reputation Ruined
The incandescent lamp tubes on the ceiling emitted bright white light. Compared to other positions on the Ghost Ship, this Restaurant undoubtedly appeared much more normal.
Seeing that he couldn’t call the Waiter, Zhang Qian was too lazy to waste more words. Taking advantage of this moment when he was restrained, he observed the surrounding environment.
This Space wasn’t large, and there was no sign of a back kitchen or Front Desk or similar places. There wasn’t even a door. It was just like an ordinary sealed Room.
If not for those Tables and Chairs piled up to the side, it would be hard to associate this place with a Restaurant.
“This Room has nothing else besides Tables and Chairs. There’s also no place for ordering or preparing dishes. For a Restaurant, having only these Things is definitely not enough.” Zhang Qian turned his head to look in other directions.
Unfortunately, there were no other discoveries. All directions were enveloped by somewhat yellowed pure white Walls, with no signs of anything like a Portal existing.
In other words, this place was just an isolated Space, unconnected to other places.
“So those Things just now were really fake? Using Ghost Money to treat customers to Air, it really knows how to Make Money…”
However, if there really was no Portal, how could he leave this place?
Break through the Walls?
But these Rooms on the Ghost Ship seemed to still be inside the Ghost Ship, yet in reality, they weren’t much different from independent Supernatural Lands. Leaving aside whether he could break through, even if he did make a hole, Zhang Qian wouldn’t dare to crawl through randomly.
Because even he himself wasn’t sure what would happen.
At the same time, there was no such record in Headquarters’ files. To know the Consequences of doing so, he’d probably have to ask those Ghost Controllers who went missing in Supernatural Events.
“Crack.”
As he was thinking, a crisp sound suddenly appeared inside the Room.
His right hand, which had been straining with force, suddenly relaxed and broke free from that invisible Restraint.
And this time was far earlier than Zhang Qian had expected, not even a minute had passed.
“It seems not as sturdy as I imagined?” Zhang Qian muttered.
The corrosion of True Qi was only expanding the range of the Restraint. Based on the speed of corrosion, it would take about two or three minutes to enlarge it enough for the wrist to escape.
“But the situation just now didn’t seem like it was expanded. It was more like some invisible metal ring shattered into pieces.”
Was it the Supernatural Power of the Severed Limb Ghost?
Perhaps he really needed to find a chance to properly thank the Mannequin for getting him such a useful Ability.
He reached out and groped to the side. There was no existence of anything like fragments underneath; it was just a layer of smooth Metal.
“Just pure Supernatural Power, not attached to certain Items?”
Zhang Qian no longer paid attention to the Chain’s situation and instead lifted his Arm to his eyes for a close look.
The forearm was still covered in scarlet cracks, but there were no traces of being restrained.
He shook his wrist, and there was no uncomfortable Feeling.
That invisible Restraint seemed to merely fix the Limb in place purely, with no intention of harming Zhang Qian.
After all, a captured Ghost Controller was equivalent to the Restaurant’s reserve ingredients. If the quality was damaged, the resulting Dishes would be greatly discounted and wouldn’t sell for a good price.
“Next is the left hand.” Zhang Qian thought to himself.
Soon, a Faint Glow began to emanate from the wrist of his left hand, flickering as it dissolved into the invisible Chain.
Based on previous Experience, it would take about forty seconds to completely break free.
Then Zhang Qian extended his right hand as well, tentatively grasping above the left wrist.
Although that Chain couldn’t be seen, the continuously dissolving True Qi pointed the direction for Zhang Qian.
After a slight grope, he touched a layer of icy something.
The Touch was very hard, like touching a block of firm ice, with bursts of Cold emanating from inside.
But that was all. Now that the True Qi in his Body had recovered, this bit of Cold was completely negligible to Zhang Qian.
“The Supernatural aura it emits is between Ghost Hand and Ghost Mist, not particularly Terror-inducing.” Silently sensing it, Zhang Qian compared it to the Fierce Ghosts he had encountered before.
But there wasn’t much comparability. After all, this Chain seemed to have no corrosion on the Body; it was just exceptionally sturdy, even far surpassing Fierce Ghosts of the same level.
Unfortunately, this sturdiness had little effect in front of the Severed Limb Ghost’s Supernatural Power.
Just moments after pressing his right hand on, Zhang Qian felt the spot where his Fingers touched become somewhat uneven.
He tapped lightly, and that ring of invisible Chain immediately shattered.
Another crisp ringing sound.
The Waiter, who was hurrying away with his head down, keenly twitched his ears. He could of course guess what this Sound meant, but he hadn’t expected Zhang Qian’s speed to be this fast.
Not daring to look back, he continuously quickened his pace, hoping to hide in some concealed place before Zhang Qian broke free.
“Ah——”
After turning a corner, the scheming Waiter suddenly fell to the ground, eating dirt.
Even though his reaction was fairly quick, he couldn’t avoid scraping his Palm, feeling a burning Pain.
It wasn’t because he wasn’t careful while walking; something was secretly at work in the dark.
“What Thing…” The Waiter wailed as he propped up his Body and glanced back.
Two Palms covered in bloody Wounds had at some point grabbed his ankles, one left and one right, pinching tightly at the joints with such Strength that it felt like they wanted to crush the Bones inside.
Moreover, the Skin hidden under the Trouser Legs also transmitted waves of stinging Pain, like thousands of tiny knives scraping the Skin at once, causing the Waiter’s face to twitch in agony.
“Customer, please withdraw your supernatural ability. We can talk things over nicely.” The Waiter pleaded, covered in sweat.
The Waiter’s aged face was now drenched in cold sweat, in so much Pain that he wanted to bite his tongue to end it but was somewhat reluctant.
He couldn’t help wanting to roll around to distract himself, but those two Palms on his ankles were like nails, pinning him firmly to the ground with no ability to move.
However, Zhang Qian didn’t even have the interest to glance at him. Not only did he not withdraw, he instead controlled the Ghost Hand to increase the force.
While clearing the Restraint on his feet, he also shouted loudly: “Got it, not enough force, right? Don’t worry, I’ll come over personally in a bit to help loosen your Bones. Guaranteed to satisfy you.”
This guy had been thinking of killing him earlier, so Zhang Qian naturally wouldn’t let him off easily.
But it didn’t have to be killing him; leaving him half-dead would do. After all, he still needed to get Information from him.
Hearing this, the Waiter’s heart sank halfway, feeling that his life’s reputation was probably going to end here.
Pitiful him, the best employee of the Ghost Restaurant over eighty years, Shopkeeper of the Ghost Ship Branch Store, a generation’s great merchant, actually going to meet his end in this godforsaken place because he failed to scam the money.
