Chapter 283: Zhang Xiangguang’s Plan
No one noticed a foot actually stepping out from the oil painting, as everyone’s attention in the dormitory was focused on the panicked Miao Xiaoshan.
“Go! Hurry up and go! We can’t stay in this dormitory any longer.”
While saying this,
Miao Xiaoshan got out of bed, then hurriedly put on her clothes, frantically wanting to leave like she had gone mad.
“Huh? Go? Go where? What’s this all about out of the blue, it’s the middle of the night and cold outside, where are we going?”
Nearby Zhang Manman was confused by Miao Xiaoshan’s abnormal behavior.
“Go upstairs, we absolutely can’t stay here any longer, stop looking at me and hurry up, put on your clothes and come with me.”
Seeing that her roommates weren’t moving, Miao Xiaoshan grew even more anxious. She tried to pull Zhang Manman up from the bed, but she wasn’t appreciative and instead forcefully shook her arm free.
“Miao Xiaoshan, what’s wrong with you? Calm down first, why are you going crazy out of nowhere? If you want to go, go by yourself, I’m not going out with you in this freezing cold.” Zhang Manman, whose arm had been yanked painfully by Miao Xiaoshan, spoke up with displeasure.
“Believe me, that painting definitely has a problem, I don’t want to see anyone else die, please.”
Seeing that no one in the dormitory believed her, and even her usually closest friend looked suspicious, Miao Xiaoshan instantly recalled the tragedy from a year ago. Her voice trembling, she continued:
“Yu Xinyue was absolutely killed by a ghost, believe me, please come with me quickly.”
The experience from that day was the nightmare of her lifetime.
The entire class,
nearly fifty students, in less than one night, only seven people left the school alive.
Every time Miao Xiaoshan thought of these things,
the horrific deaths of those classmates haunted her like vengeful spirits, and now that same sense of despair swept over her once again.
“That feeling is getting stronger and stronger, no, I have to go, I can’t wait for them anymore.”
Looking at the indifferent and puzzled crowd, Miao Xiaoshan had given up on persuading them. Even if these roommates met with misfortune, it had nothing to do with her anymore.
Having experienced one supernatural event, she knew exactly how precious every second was when facing a ghost.
If she continued persuading them, it was very likely no one would survive.
Good advice does not persuade the fated to die.
However, just as Miao Xiaoshan was preparing to leave alone.
Sizzle. Sizzle!
The lights in the dormitory suddenly flickered inexplicably.
“Ah~!”
Someone suddenly screamed.
Immediately after,
the lights began flickering nonstop, the entire room as if coated in gray pigment, hazy with an indescribable sense of oppression.
“W-what’s going on? The l-lights… why are the lights broken?” Huang Jiaxin pointed at the light tube overhead in terror, her voice trembling.
But her words received no response from the others in the dormitory, as if they had been drawn to some other sound.
“Using the ghost house’s pattern to block the ghost painting is a bit risky, but fortunately I used supernatural influence to make the ghost house send the ghost painting to this building. If the ghost painting had been sent abroad, all our long scheming would have been for nothing.”
A man’s rough voice suddenly sounded from outside the door, and as he spoke, his tone suddenly sank:
“Wait, there are people in this room!”
No sooner had the words been spoken,
than a loud bang echoed as the dormitory door was kicked open with tremendous force.
A young man under thirty, his face full of fierce flesh, entered with a grim expression.
The man first scanned the room, ignoring the terrified female students, then suddenly spotted the foot extending from the oil painting on the ground.
He immediately turned sharply, gazing into the darkness outside the door and said in a low voice:
“The source ghost painting is indeed here, we can start the action. There are just a few female students in the room, kill them and it’s fine.”
“Hm?! What does ‘kill them and it’s fine’ mean?”
Before Miao Xiaoshan and the others could react, four people filed in from the darkness outside the dormitory.
The leader was a man wearing an old Zhongshan suit, about thirty years old, his calm gaze carrying a hint of world-weariness and reminiscence.
The person beside this Zhongshan suit man was slightly older, around fifty, with graying temples, slightly emaciated hands, and a pallid face.
Another one was even older, with age spots, looking sixty or seventy, dressed in simple cloth clothes and cloth shoes, his garments washed to near whiteness but still clean and neat.
“W-who are you people! This is the girls’ dormitory, you old men barging in like this, have you no shame? I’m calling the police to arrest you!”
Seeing that the intruders were four elderly old men, Zhang Manman, whose heart had been pounding wildly, suddenly felt less afraid.
She held her mobile phone, pointing at the leader Zhang Xiangguang among the four old men, and shouted sharply:
“Men have broken into the girls’ dormitory! Men have broken into the girls’ dormitory! Hurry and come arrest these dead perverts!”
But the words had just left her mouth.
A strong sense of unease suddenly surged in Zhang Manman’s heart.
She suddenly noticed in the recording mobile phone video that the leading Zhongshan suit man was somehow holding a rusty, outdated great saber.
“A saber? How did they get into the girls’ dorm? What happened to the dorm auntie? Why do they have a saber…”
The instant she saw the great saber, Zhang Manman’s face turned deathly pale, and the words she wanted to say were forcibly swallowed back.
However, in the blink of an eye,
Zhang Manman felt the scene before her eyes begin to shake, the entire world inverting.
Her head had somehow been severed, falling from her neck.
Miao Xiaoshan, still standing on the ground, hadn’t understood what was happening when she suddenly felt a warmth at the back of her neck.
When the thumping sounds rang out, she turned to look behind her.
“Ah!!!”
Zhang Manman’s head had heavily smashed onto the ground, while her body still sat on the upper bunk bed, standing motionless like a headless statue.
“Old Zhang, you really are ruthless, chopping down such a young girl just like that?”
Looking at the headless female corpse on the bed, Chen Qiaoyang smacked his lips.
“Cut the useless talk, hurry and restrict the ghost painting to this building, then bring He Yuelian and the ghost messenger over too.”
Ignoring the terrified and immobile Miao Xiaoshan, Zhang Xiangguang picked up the oil painting from the ground, then looked at the group at the door and continued:
“The starving ghost can’t hold Old Qin for too long, we can’t fully trust that little ghost from the Wang family either. For this cause, we’ve paid too high a price, so the next actions must be swift.”
