Mysterious Revival: I Am Jiang Shang, Commanding Ghosts to Seal Gods – Chapter 52

A Few Words From The Author

Chapter 52: A Few Words From The Author

The first time I finished Mysterious Revival was in 2022. I remember waiting every day for Buddha Lord’s three updates back then.

To be fair, although this book is criticized by many people now and many think it’s not good, at the time, aside from the suspense master “I Can Fix Air Conditioners,” the novel’s innovative ghosts were really captivating.

I’m the type who reads mindlessly and easily immerses myself in the protagonist’s perspective, so after finishing the whole book, I felt it was really great and became one of those mindless fans.

But as my age increased gradually, I started thinking more and understanding more, and slowly I felt that this book indeed suffered due to “certain irresistible factors,” making the overall plot not as good.

For example, “Three Kings Stand Together”—many brothers have mentioned this issue to me. The plot of Three Kings Stand Together was indeed too captivating. When I first learned about this setting, I felt quite regretful.

So within the allowable scope of this book, I will try my best to write toward this plot. But since it’s my first time writing a book, even though I have an outline, I still make many content changes during writing, so I can’t guarantee it to the brothers. I can only do my utmost to faithfully restore the world of Mysterious Revival and the despair of this world.

Next are some foreshadowing left by Buddha Lord, like Ghost Domain travel being called “Rainbow Transformation” in ancient times. This raises a question: why does the story only feature Ghost Wielders from the Republic of China period, but what about Ghost Wielders from previous dynasties?

This might be because if written along these lines, the plot could collapse, or for other reasons.

For this point, I will follow Buddha Lord’s setting and not write about ancient Ghost Wielders for now. If I can perfectly finish this book, for the next one, I probably want to write about the plot of ancient Fierce Ghost Revival in Mysterious Revival. That book would borrow the settings of Mysterious Revival and be a purely original work.

While reading the whole book, there were indeed some toxic points, like Zhang Liqin. But for an old bookworm like me, these are actually acceptable. However, the plot that made me feel the most uncomfortable throughout was the national war arc.

I’m someone with strong patriotic sentiments. I don’t care how people from my own country fight and cause trouble, but in the later stages, possibly due to Buddha Lord suppressing strength, Yang Jian, who controlled the Dead Machine Wishing Ghost and 40% Ghost Lake with a body full of Fierce Ghosts, actually struggled so much against a Manor Lord. I remember a book friend even said: Ghost Lake foot soak.

Hahahahaha

Although every Captain can handle two or three Kings, for some reason, while reading that part, there’s always a sense of anger and frustration in my heart.

In that environment, the Seven Elders of the Republic of China could even suppress the supernatural events of an entire era. Although not perfectly handled, they at least left behind methods like Ghost Post Office, Endless Graveyard, and Wang Family Ancestral Home for handling Fierce Ghosts.

But when the supernatural revived again and the population increased so much, aside from top-tier Ghost Wielders like Yang Jian, Ye Zhen, Liu San, and Li Leping who can compare to the Seven Elders, the remaining Captains seem very ordinary.

After telling the brothers all this, I just want to tell all the “benefactors” who support this book that I will add a lot of original plot and original characters. I want to strengthen the strength of our great nation—not to mention counterattacking, but at least I don’t want it to be as frustrating as in the original.

Because my writing is indeed quite immature, and some sentences are even hard to read, I also thank the brothers for their tolerance. I will do my utmost to write this book with care.

Previously, a brother commented saying that my novel has neither face-slapping pretentious plots nor a harem, so there’s no refreshment for the brothers to enjoy, and thus this book will be hard to succeed.

Although this brother spoke bluntly, he’s actually quite right. I’m not good at writing pretentious scenes and don’t like harems. I prefer a slower pace with more innovative plots. After all, the main theme of this book is “Seal Gods.” My initial hypotheses for ending the supernatural have two options, and I’ll make the final choice as I write slowly.

But no matter which storyline I choose, getting to know more Ghost Wielders and finding more suitable Puzzle Pieces will definitely not be lacking. I will bring out some characters along with the plot progression.

I also want to fill some pits that Buddha Lord didn’t, like the final destinations of Fierce Ghost Road, Yin Yang Road, and Ghost Bus.

I remember online mentions that this book originally had a setting of thirty-six Source Ghosts, saying Zhang Dong controlled a perfect Source Ghost to have such strength, so I want to derive more plot from this setting, giving me and the brothers some room for imagination.

Fanfiction also requires imagination.

Indeed, the popularity of Mysterious Revival isn’t as high now as it was back then, so writing its fanfiction doesn’t make much money anymore.

For this book, I’ve discussed with the editor, and it will go on formal subscription on September 1st. I’m rushing to put it on shelves not to make dirty money and run, because it’s my first time writing and making money, so I want to get the first manuscript fee to prove myself. That sense of achievement is something working brothers feel the most.

The first bucket of gold from doing something really brings a strong sense of achievement.

I guarantee to all brothers: ten thousand words on the day it goes on shelves, followed by stable six thousand updates daily. These past two days, brothers have been saying I’m watery, hahahaha.

Very sorry, brothers, because of some paving the way and foreshadowing, plus my not-so-good pace control, if the plot progresses slowly after going on shelves and “watery text” appears, I’ll add an extra chapter for the brothers to ensure no supporter waits bitterly.

I’ve created a QQ group. Although a small author like me creating a group might seem laughable, I still hope brothers with good ideas and suggestions will share them with me. If I write watery text, please roast me freely in the group, hahahahaha.

I’ve pretty much said everything and all ideas about this book to the brothers. Next is the most important content. Thank you for the generosity of every brother supporting this book and willing to read my rambling.

I know subscribing to books is quite luxurious. When I was young, I often read pirated versions, which is normal—human nature. Although I’m still not well-off now, I insist on subscribing to genuine copies, especially after becoming a writer myself. I then realized that readers’ subscriptions directly affect the book’s earnings.

I don’t have a job yet. This book pretty much decides my ability to eat. Although it’s just a side gig, it can provide some financial support.

In the first three months after going on shelves, I can still get the site’s writer benefits, like full attendance, to maintain my living. But after three months, if subscription data doesn’t meet standards, the author won’t even get full attendance, equivalent to earning only seventy or eighty yuan for a month of updates. Honestly, no one would sit in front of the computer wasting time and energy for that seventy or eighty yuan.

This is also why so many books on the market stop updating after three or four months.

Generating power for love is too unrealistic for adults.

After saying all this, I still hope that all “benefactors” who can financially support will please support this brother more. Even if by the last month I can only eat the minimum guarantee, I will persist in finishing this book, letting brothers read it with peace of mind and satisfaction.

Once again, thank you for the brothers’ generosity and support!!!
