Chapter 63: The Ghost That Changes Luck
After encountering the Grave Crying Ghost Attack, only eight of the dozens of ordinary people originally on the bus remained.
Although that handsome uncle was a Ghost Wielder, judging from his performance, Jiang Shan guessed that he probably didn’t know he had controlled a ghost.
This was very strange,
Clearly having controlled a ghost yet not knowing it himself. This was the first time he had seen such a thing.
Jiang Shan turned his gaze to the man:
He saw that quite handsome handsome uncle, his face full of fear, constantly looking around in panic, terrifiedly observing his surroundings.
His violently trembling body and fearful eyes were enough to prove it was his first time encountering a Supernatural Event.
“This shouldn’t be. The ghost behind him clearly wasn’t recorded by the Ghost Bus, but his performance doesn’t look like that of a Ghost Wielder at all.” Jiang Shan felt doubt in his heart.
After an unknown amount of time, the Ghost Bus drove for a while and stopped again at a bus stop.
Jiang Shan looked out the window at the scenery outside, and his expression couldn’t help but tense up.
Outside was a village, the entire village consisting of wooden tile-roofed houses, very old, with a strong sense of history, eerie and deathly still, empty of people, overgrown with weeds everywhere, some places with doors and windows rotted away, leaving only hollow window openings.
The architectural style of the entire village gave Jiang Shan the feeling of old houses built in the forties or fifties, dilapidated and desolate.
Clearly, this was a piece of terrifying Supernatural Land.
“It seems the risky move of tearing off the Crying Face was correct. I can’t continue living in this world following Yang Jian’s experiences. I’m not him; I need to make my own decisions.” Jiang Shan thought to himself.
The Ghost Bus he was on this time had a route completely different from Yang Jian’s that time.
This time the Ghost Bus stopped, but outside there was no eerie old mansion with two red lanterns hanging, nor a Mummy Bride preparing to board.
If Jiang Shan hadn’t chosen to act when the Grave Crying Ghost boarded, but instead imitated Yang Jian,
Then perhaps he would have missed this Crying Face forever.
This time,
All the ordinary people on the bus chose cautious observation, and after feeling the deep chill of the village, no one chose to leave their seats.
Just like that, everyone waited a full three minutes,
No ghost boarded; instead, that Grave Crying Ghost got off and disappeared into that weird village.
Seeing that the time for activity was running out, to find out the details of the ghost behind that uncle, Jiang Shan stood up from his seat and walked toward the man.
With his action, most people in the bus simultaneously looked toward Jiang Shan.
This ruthless person who could tear off a ghost’s face was, to ordinary people, the “last straw” that could protect their lives, so his every move was under everyone’s attention.
Feeling everyone’s gazes, Jiang Shan didn’t care; of course he knew what those gazes meant.
In his previous life when diving to save people, the drowning boy’s gaze toward him was exactly the same as these people’s—manic, fervent.
The desire to survive is human nature,
It was nothing wrong to spend some words reminding everyone; after all, humans are not plants or trees—how could one’s heart remain unmoved watching fellow humans die?
But if idiots appeared among this group, Jiang Shan would kill them without hesitation.
He didn’t want to be the lifesaving straw for drowning people; being a hero came at a cost.
Compared to being a hero, he now only wanted to be a selfish villain.
“Why am I so unlucky? Ever since leaving that place, I haven’t had a single good day. Even ghosts have to come after me. Damn, it’s like misfortune knocking at misfortune’s door—misfortune has arrived home.”
Just as he reached the man’s side, Jiang Shan heard his quiet self-muttering.
The word “unlucky” instantly caught his attention.
From the moment he saw this man until boarding this Ghost Bus, this uncle seemed not just simply unlucky.
Looking at the faintly visible gray afterimage behind the man, a sudden realization hit Jiang Shan, and the emergence of an idea made him think it was bad.
Jiang Shan sat in the empty seat beside the man, then asked:
“The ‘there’ you mentioned, where is it?”
The sudden voice by his ear startled the man badly; he scooted his body toward the window in fear nonstop. After a few seconds, he reacted and looked at Jiang Shan:
“It’s you, brother! You scared me so much I nearly peed myself. Why do you walk without making a sound? You scared me to death.”
The heavy northeastern accent stunned Jiang Shan; although he understood it, he didn’t hear a single useful word.
“Do you know there’s a ghost following behind you? If you want to stay alive, answer my question properly.” Jiang Shan said in an icy tone.
He didn’t want to waste words with this man and directly stated the most terrifying thing, more effective than any friendly chit-chat.
And the fact was indeed so,
The handsome uncle’s face instantly turned ashen as pig liver; he looked behind him in terror, found nothing, then tremblingly said:
“Brother… you… don’t scare me. I lost money at the Yongli Gold Casino, reported it when I left, and after that, I felt myself becoming unlucky.”
“I eat lemons!!!”
As the uncle was about to continue, a furious curse suddenly rang out in the bus.
The man who had previously slapped off the driver’s head stood up full of anger, veins bulging on his forehead, eyes bloodshot, walking over while cursing:
“It was you, you spineless beast, who reported my casino! Otherwise, how could I end up on this Ghost Bus?! You beast! I’ll fucking kill you!”
With that, the man pulled a fruit knife from his waistband, tossed the sheath away, and charged at Jiang Shan and the other with red eyes.
“Bang~!”
“Ah!!!”
The gunshot made the already tense girl in the bus unable to hold on any longer, screaming loudly.
Hearing the gunshot, the red-eyed man was first stunned, then upon snapping back, he looked at the dark gun barrel, his legs softening.
“Bro, I…”
“Scram.”
Hearing Jiang Shan’s words, the man didn’t care about face anymore, dropped the knife, and slunk back to his original seat.
At the same time,
Lin Bei, who had been resting with eyes closed, and the pair of sisters also opened their eyes, looking gravely at Jiang Shan.
Although Gold Bullets couldn’t cause much harm to Fierce Ghosts, not even able to stop them,
For Ghost Wielders who had controlled one or two Fierce Ghosts, Gold Bullets still posed a certain threat to them.
“Ghost Rope, Crying Face, that finger, Specialized Weapon.” Lin Bei’s gaze flickered.
He realized Jiang Shan had boarded this Ghost Bus fully prepared, unlike him who was forced onto it.
“Looks like he knows many secrets about this Ghost Bus.” Lin Bei couldn’t help thinking, and suddenly an idea surged in his mind, but he quickly dismissed it.
After watching for a while and seeing no ghost board, he closed his eyes again, sitting there motionless like a living corpse.
As the Ghost Bus started again, the atmosphere inside the bus once more fell into a deathly stillness of despair.
But Jiang Shan wouldn’t care about these; others could despair however they wanted—it had nothing to do with him.
At this moment,
Jiang Shan had to figure out the pattern of the ghost behind this uncle. If it was really as he thought,
Then the value of the ghost behind the man would be inestimable!
