Chapter 9: Kill The Captain, Betray Konoha
Yoru fought while retreating, forced back to the seaside.
In Antelope Captain’s mind, he was just a genin strength person, unable to shoulder great responsibility.
After Purple Cat died, he had far exceeded the captain’s expectations.
Yoru reached the seaside and engaged in close combat with the Cloud Ninja he had brought over.
The two competed in taijutsu, probing each other.
Yoru’s eyes occasionally scanned beside the exploding wooden house, taking in the full battlefield.
A Cloud Ninja squad rushed out from the wooden house, one of whom was injured by an exploding tag and leaned against the stairs, gasping for breath.
Horned Ox’s head was filthy, no wonder he was truly angry; he had indeed flown.
Ninjas must be all-rounders; theoretical knowledge is equally important. Poor Horned Ox, he suffered from not understanding building layout.
Antelope Captain and Horned Ox, each facing one Cloud Ninja.
In the distance, fishermen in the village were startled by the explosion sounds and rushed out holding fish forks.
Facing ninjas, these normal fishermen were weak.
They didn’t dare rush over, only hesitated from afar, blocking in front of their own houses or fishing boats, protecting their wealth.
At that moment, two figures suddenly leaped up from behind the fishermen!
Trouble, Cloud Ninjas were hiding among the fishermen.
The sneak attack from another Cloud Ninja squad instantly made the situation extremely unfavorable.
Yoru had dodged far enough, so the newly appeared Cloud Ninjas were heading for Antelope Captain and Horned Ox.
Two against one, Antelope Captain and Horned Ox were in danger. If they died, he wouldn’t survive either.
Yoru no longer hid, pretended to trip, turned his back to the Cloud Ninjas, and sold an opening.
The Cloud Ninja raised his ninja sword high, slashing toward Yoru’s head.
In reality, Yoru secretly formed hand seals under his body.
The Cloud Ninja fighting him stiffened, hit by the Karma Seal of Retribution.
In the darkness, the seal crept up the Cloud Ninja’s joints, sealing him in place.
His ninja sword forever stopped 30 centimeters from Yoru’s head.
Reverse thrust.
Yoru’s kunai pierced the Cloud Ninja’s vulnerable abdomen.
After twisting it, this Cloud Ninja fell down.
He hurriedly rushed toward Antelope Captain and Horned Ox.
His actions were still too slow; he watched helplessly as two ninja swords, one from front and one from back, chopped off Antelope Captain’s head.
Not only Yoru, but Horned Ox nearby also stiffened, nearly taking a blade.
The captain died?
The next instant, the captain’s body and head both turned into white smoke.
It was a shadow clone!
So Antelope Captain had been probing with shadow clones all along.
It could even be said that Yoru and Horned Ox’s infiltration counted as the captain’s probing.
The real Antelope Captain leaped up from the rear coconut grove, throwing exploding tag kunai toward the fishermen.
A squad has 3 to 4 people; only two Cloud Ninjas had appeared, proving other Cloud Ninjas were still lurking among the fishermen.
Antelope Captain didn’t bother distinguishing fishermen from Cloud Ninjas, directly using exploding tags.
Either blow up the Cloud Ninjas along with the fishermen, or the survivors would be the exposed Cloud Ninjas.
The exploding tags detonated among the fishermen, blowing away seven or eight slow-reacting fishermen on the spot.
Those seven or eight were either dead or crippled.
Exploding tags were equivalent to chunin level Fire Release, with great power.
Yoru’s line of sight shifted back from the explosion; the two Cloud Ninjas who had just destroyed Antelope Captain’s shadow clone rushed toward him.
Two against one?
Using the enemy’s force while blocking the ninja sword, Yoru rolled backward, pretending to be no match.
Seeing the fox mask ninja’s strength was so poor, the Cloud Ninjas had only one pursue, while the other went to deal with Antelope Captain.
Yoru breathed a sigh of relief.
That’s more like it; why tangle with cannon fodder like him? Antelope Captain was the key to the battle.
The two fought from the beach into the water; to avoid the Cloud Ninja releasing Lightning Release in the seawater, Yoru formed hand seals underwater, using the Karma Seal of Retribution to briefly control the Cloud Ninja.
After killing the Cloud Ninja, Yoru thrashed in the water, gripping the Cloud Ninja’s wrists with both hands, tumbling with the corpse, pretending to fight in the seawater.
The battle looked extremely fierce.
This duet was danced by Yoru and a corpse.
Until the battle on shore stopped, Yoru climbed out of the seawater.
That night he killed two Cloud Ninjas, exceeding the quota.
At Antelope Captain’s feet lay several Cloud Ninja corpses.
Antelope Captain was injured, stabbed in the abdomen, a piercing wound, very serious.
As for Horned Ox, he was already dead.
This made Yoru feel extremely bad.
Without Horned Ox, would the captain watch him constantly from now on?
Would the things he learned be exposed?
If he mysteriously learned ninjutsu, Anbu would definitely deem him a spy, investigate and deal with him. Ninjutsu was Konoha Village’s second greatest resource after missions, extremely precious.
“Captain! Let’s go quickly! The fishermen are closing in!”
Yoru rushed to Antelope Captain’s side, confirming the captain’s injury.
Real injury, not fake.
The fishermen saw one ninja clutching his abdomen, blood flowing from between his fingers, another ninja emerging from the sea surface, drenched and bedraggled.
They mustered courage, charged with fish forks to avenge their relatives just blown up.
Yoru supported Antelope Captain’s arm and leaped up.
After several leaps, the two left the fishing village, vanishing into the depths of the seaside coconut grove.
“Fox, your choice was wrong; you should have killed all the armed fishermen instead of fleeing in panic.”
Yoru explained: “Captain, I was afraid there were still Cloud Ninjas among the fishermen.”
Between two coconut trees was a large-leaved plant Yoru didn’t recognize.
The plant’s leaves were so dense, it was pitch black there.
Yoru supported Antelope Captain and leaped toward the large-leaved plant.
Before landing, Yoru suddenly drew his kunai and viciously stabbed toward Antelope Captain’s side ribs!
Beneath the mask, Yoru’s eyes flashed with sharp light.
Always guarding against Antelope Captain wasn’t feasible; every time using the Karma Seal of Retribution required turning his back.
Antelope Captain would eventually discover his trick, realizing he learned ninjutsu through some channel Anbu didn’t control.
Anbu despised surprises; they had to control everything.
Yuka Uzumaki mistook him for a Senju Clan spy over a sealing secret jutsu; wouldn’t Antelope Captain do the same?
Kunai in hand, kill the captain, betray Konoha!
If not now, when?
Even if you’re an elite chunin, after heavy injury, a kunai can still take your life.
Antelope Captain grunted.
“Hm?”
Yoru felt his fingers covered in sticky, warm blood.
But the blood loss was less than imagined.
The captain’s ribs were so hard.
His own kunai was so dull.
Antelope Captain was ruthless, counterattacking immediately.
His right arm, resting on the fox’s shoulder, bent back forcefully, locking the fox’s neck.
He raised his left hand and, with the hooked-back right hand, formed hand seals.
Fire Release: Flame Bullet!
A flame bullet fireball erupted from Antelope Captain’s mouth.
Yoru felt scorching heat by his ear.
At such close range, it directly engulfed the fox’s head, and also Antelope Captain’s own right arm.
Before dying from heavy wounds, Antelope Captain traded his right arm for the fox’s life.
Yoru, in Antelope Captain’s arms, didn’t even have time to use the Karma Seal of Retribution.
The kunai was clamped by Antelope Captain’s muscles, caught by the ribs.
Too cunning; he only knew before that Antelope Captain excelled at shadow clones, but he never mentioned knowing Fire Release.
Hiding so deeply even from his own team members!
Judging by that hand seal speed, Fire Release was absolutely his trump card.
Yoru’s head was engulfed by the flame bullet, feeling like he had a fever.
High fever over a thousand degrees, dying miserably.
