Chapter 12: Game Sprite: My Boss Dares To Rub Poop!
Yuan Zhu and the Game Sprite’s mental communication seemed to be padding word count, but in reality, only a short few seconds passed.
Yuan Zhu’s expression went blank for a moment, then abruptly switched from his previous honest, tense, and worried state to a confident mode. His previously scattered language became clear and logical.
With just a few simple sentences, he clearly explained his experience:
In the morning, he drove the truck alone to deliver a batch of anesthetized Goblins. After delivery and signing, he took Tools to tidy the Lawn, then maintained the Garden. At noon, he ate a Feast in the restaurant, then lost consciousness, and his Memory cut off there.
When he woke up again, he was lying in a pool of cold blood, the scene like Hell, littered with debris and minced meat, no living person in sight.
The above was Yuan Zhu’s summary of his situation. Regarding the specific content of the Sacrifice Ritual, how he massacred wildly, and those Pollution Sources and Demonic Creatures eroded by Pollution Erosion, he completely avoided mentioning them, directly pretending to have amnesia to skip over.
He was only missing the Memory from ‘after passing out at noon until waking up.’
In the Game Sprite’s words, this was the most logical situation. Rather than wasting effort fabricating a story without his (Tiger Demon) involvement, better to play dumb, look innocent, and shout:
I don’t know anything, how am I supposed to answer?! I only know that when I woke up, the scene was already this bloody Hellish mess, with no one around.
“I was terrified at the time, didn’t know what to do. So the first thing I did was use the ‘remote dialer’ in the Manor to contact the Security Bureau, then tried to search for valuable Evidence to prove my innocence.”
Yuan Zhu’s current attitude was: I don’t know anything, I’m really scared right now, my heart is panicking. But I’m a good citizen, I’m willing to 100% unconditionally cooperate!
With the Game Sprite’s ‘facial micro-expression management’ help, he vividly portrayed the psychological state a victim should have, leaving the two Investigators amazed.
Your mental state switch is so natural, no transition at all, directly jumping to calm and composed—clearly not that of a normal victim.
The Young Man surnamed Han, already prejudiced against Yuan Zhu, became even more convinced he was hiding something. But the detector in his hand showed no anomalies, all indicators normal.
This meant no anomalous Energy residue on the other party, healthier than Ordinary Humans, which was bizarre. Any random Ordinary Human pulled from the street would have Deviation between 1-7.
Yet this guy named Yuan Zhu personally experienced a Sacrifice with countless deaths and injuries, and his Deviation was actually 0?! This is fucking normal?
This is completely abnormal, not data an Ordinary Human could have. Especially since he works at a Cleaning Company like Fire Fang, always dealing with Pollution; and he’s from the bottom class, his Deviation should be even higher!
You think you’re some noble who never touches dirty water, raised in luxury, never facing danger?
With prejudice in mind, he increasingly felt Yuan Zhu wasn’t some innocent survivor—on the contrary, the other party must harbor huge dangerous hidden risks, and this obedient cooperative expression was just a facade to lull people.
The more he observed, the more he sensed Yuan Zhu’s out-of-place Temperament was a big problem! So his tone turned cold and harsh, sharply questioning: “Why are you wearing the victim’s Clothes?!”
Yuan Zhu was startled by the sudden questioning, cursing inwardly: Are you fucking crazy? Sudden attack to catch me off guard? But what kind of question level is this, I’m still wearing my own Clothes!
Sensing the other’s hostility, Yuan Zhu didn’t give a good face either, retorting: “I was frozen awake! When I woke up, my Clothes were gone. What could I do? Run naked?! Had to pick some unwanted Clothes from the ground.”
Fatty Wang exclaimed upon hearing: “Oh? What style of Sacrifice is this, so wild? Even discarding Clothes.”
From the tone, it was clear he misunderstood the nature of the Sacrifice Ritual. After all, with Evil Gods rampant in this World, wild parties with Sacrifice-worshipping Miss types were reasonable.
“You might have misunderstood. When I woke up, there was no one, but the scene was extremely bloody and cruel, like a slaughter had occurred—not the kind of Sacrifice you think.”
Fatty Wang nodded, agreeing with Yuan Zhu’s statement, recording it in his little notebook: “Is that so? Then after waking, what was your deepest impression of the scene? What places were worth noting? Don’t try rational recall and analysis, use intuition! Say your first instinctual feelings—what things or impressions hit you first upon waking?”
“Uh…”
This question stumped Yuan Zhu—what feelings could he have? He was woken by the noise from the Great Desolation Immortal Scripture; if any, it was irritation + the helplessness of a Plant Person lying there.
Then it was exhilarating! Shadow Power flowed into his Body, Mutated Spiritual Root loaded synchronously, he gained unprecedented Power, starting with cheats, ascending in one step, slaughtering everywhere. Fully experiencing the majesty and dominance of the king of beasts, that pure joy of killing and crushing, very primal yet utterly pure.
Finally, the suddenly online Game Sprite, sweet-talking and sweet-mouthed, willing to farm the Old Immortal Scripture Master’s gold coins with him. A ‘smart mini-program’ betraying its class is a scab in the cheat world—what more to say? Her life, Yuan Zhu would protect.
After recalling his feelings, Yuan Zhu decided to tell the truth, no lies, but edited version.
“My biggest feeling after waking… was my Brain was very chaotic. Does that count? Not ordinary frustration, like my Brain was stirred by invisible forces, Memory disordered. Childhood events inexplicably popped into my mind, but recent Memory was fragmented and incoherent. But with effort, I could recall them again.”
Though saying this, he knew his Brain chaos was entirely from the Game Sprite mixing 1.3 portions of foreign Memory into his Soul and stirring. But he wasn’t lying— it was indeed this Sacrifice that caused his Soul’s temporary disorder.
This counted as an Anomaly, withstandable to Spirit detection, if they had such a Skill.
The Middle-aged Man surnamed Wang was unsatisfied after hearing: “This was clearly an illegal Sacrifice summoning massive Evil Spirits, causing uncontrollable events. Now participants and Sacrifices’ life and death whereabouts are unclear. You think you just fainted, not even amnesia, merely the most ordinary Brain or Soul impact causing Memory disorder—this counts as an Anomaly?”
Old Wang hearing Yuan Zhu’s symptoms was like an old Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor treating various difficult diseases suddenly facing a patient with a scraped hand—laughable. If you came a few hours later, the wound might have healed!
“Just this? Recall more— from waking to now, any special events? Anything you think relates to this case. Or any uncertain Anomalies lingering on you?”
“Um…” Yuan Zhu continued pondering, “After waking, everything at the scene gave a strong Dislike. A very disgusting, instinctual Rejection, desperate to flee immediately.”
The nearby Youth was clearly dissatisfied with Yuan Zhu’s attitude: “I advise you to be honest, don’t dodge the important and dwell on the trivial, play slick!”
“Ah, right!” Yuan Zhu made an ‘oh, I have an idea’ expression, saying: “Also, when I woke, I found my wounds had healed. I strongly suspect during my coma, I was used as a Sacrifice and brutally killed, not surviving by luck. Because my wrists, ankles, and heart had deep wounds. But upon waking, they’d healed, leaving only scars.”
Old Wang lifted his pen to record, saying while writing: “Oh? That’s worth noting. You might have really died, but not fully, then some event occurred. Causing the blessing meant for Believers to transfer, pulling you back from death. While other Sacrificers and Sacrifices became the Price. This explains why you alone survived the whole Sacrifice.”
He recorded these details and his speculation in the little notebook.
Then hesitantly added: “But a new problem—if just simple resurrection. Though a minor miracle fitting Evil God summoning Rituals, this blessing alone isn’t worth dozens of live human Sacrifices. If as you say, only you survived, what you gained is far more than a life. You might harbor something bigger?”
“Captain, I have a situation to report too—this kid is abnormal! His Deviation index <1, shows as zero." Saying so, the Youth shook the detector in his hand.
As a portable detector, its readings weren’t precise. Showing 0 didn’t mean Yuan Zhu had no Deviation signs, just below 1.
Deviation was very similar to the Pollution Degree the Game Sprite mentioned. Du Ling Star natives categorized the twisted Erosion from Soul and Physical Body jointly Polluted as Deviation.
In Yuan Zhu’s unearthed limited Memory, this Planet interconnected with multiple Outer Universes, causing Energy invasion not belonging to this Universe’s rules. In some scholars’ eyes, these invading substances containing other Universe rules, beneficial or harmful, didn’t conform (adapt) to this Planet’s rules, thus all deemed ‘harmful’.
Viewing Du Ling Star as a human Body, various Energy, rules, phenomena scattered from Outer Universes were foreign substances invading the immune system. Especially different Universes containing Supernatural Systems far beyond basic physics—harmful to the power of exponents.
So the Planet’s Air was evenly distributed with extremely fine Pollution. Ordinary Humans, as long as alive, via breathing, drinking, eating, slowly accumulated various Pollution Erosion yearly. With too many Pollution Source types in the Air, post-infection symptoms varied, hard to tally, thus uniformly classified by Deviation.
Though sounding scary—like breathing causes mutation, living makes you Get Stronger. But locals were accustomed; as long as not suicidally approaching ‘high Pollution areas’, manually handling ‘Pollution Sources’, then Pollution from normal breathing and diet was like chronic illness.
Even, general people’s Pollution didn’t erupt before they suddenly died or got sick first. Like few animals in nature worrying about cancer—unlike Humans, Ordinary Animals’ short lifespans meant no time for cancer spread before life’s end.
Typically, a Du Ling Human if well-cared from childhood, drinking clean water, eating healthy Food, studying and exercising routinely, would have low Body Deviation, indicating health. While bottom residents breathe exhaust daily, unclean water sources, Polluted Food, frequent high Pollution areas—Deviation greatly elevated.
Look at Yuan Zhu, long-term at ‘Elemental Steam Factory’ work, daily close-range ‘Elemental Steam Engine’ fumigation; part-time at Fire Fang, occasionally high-Pollution exorcism Rituals, poisoning/hunting Goblins with special agents… his Deviation at least 6+, Ordinary commoner 35+ year level.
But now, the instrument showed his Deviation as 0.
Yuan Zhu guessed it was likely due to Great Desolation Immortal Scripture Ordinary Edition. Per Game Sprite, Immortal Scripture has built-in Soul Firewall, indeed shielding -1, -1, -1 Mental Pollution Attacks for him.
He hadn’t figured Great Desolation Immortal Scripture’s exact mechanics, but roughly imagined Immortal Scripture Ordinary Edition in his mind as a not-very-strong isolation suit or body-fitted cling wrap.
Others couldn’t distinguish this transparent close-fitting film, but for Yuan Zhu, this ‘Defense’ effectively blocked Air viruses (low-level Pollution), keeping him healthy, resulting in Deviation 0.
While the deeper-hidden Great Desolation Immortal Scripture VIP Tiger Demon Template overrode the ordinary cling wrap, a plastic Armor forged from Pollution Source (Shadow), still close-fitting protection, but crushing Ordinary Edition in strength, Defense, Damage Output.
Using an inappropriate metaphor, Du Ling Star was a giant India, Air’s everything in poop equilibrium. Ordinary people accustomed to the ecology, daily accepting Ganges-level Pollution, no anomalies. But they wouldn’t actively rua Poop (contact Pollution Source), or it’d cause sudden death.
Ordinary Edition Immortal Scripture facing this World’s Pollution Sources was like cling wrap + N95 mask blocking external Pollution elements, Invulnerable to All Magic.
However, he had an extra option over others: dare approach Poop without Pollution. But once actively rua-ing Poop, slight force breaks it, self-Polluted, severe Deviation, twisting into Demonic Creature.
While Tiger Demon Armor, plastic-level toughness, one punch explodes Poop, self-cause-effect untouched, core pristine. Enemies all splashed with Damage, stacked Mental Pollution, mindset collapse, twisted mutation, suddenly into mature Poop Beast!
“Your 0 Deviation might also be a benign result from this Sacrifice? Very strange—clearly so many missing (dead), must’ve provoked a vicious Evil God. Yet you revived, and Deviation zeroed—this is Benevolent God style.” Old Wang was puzzled too.
