Chapter 100: The Vanishing Bell Tower
“What, what is this thing?”
Sang Chu and Tu You, one person and one rabbit, looked at each other, staring at the tall building that had suddenly risen from the ground.
Tu You trembled, squatting on Sang Chu’s shoulder, his voice shaking as he spoke, “This, this, there’s a powerful force inside that makes me feel very scared.”
Sang Chu nodded slightly; she felt it too.
‘Caw—’
A crow’s caw suddenly came from behind. Sang Chu turned her head and saw the crows perched on the trees seemed to be frightened by something. They all flew towards the sky like arrows released from a bow, fleeing in terror!
Sang Chu: “There should be…”
“Aren’t you looking for children? They are all here. Come in, and you’ll see them~”
Before Sang Chu could finish speaking, she heard a whisper as if it were right in her ear. Her spine instantly chilled, and goosebumps erupted all over her.
“Who are you?”
“Hee hee, you’ll know when you come in~”
The voice spoke again. Tu You watched Sang Chu, who looked dazed, and was about to call out to her, but in the next second, she walked directly into that strange building.
Tu You quickly grabbed her, “A Chu, A Chu, what are you doing!”
“A Chu!!!”
Sang Chu couldn’t hear his calls at all. She only knew that those children were inside. She heard the helpless cries of children,
A voice deep within her heart kept urging her to enter. She couldn’t resist this voice, and her feet moved uncontrollably in the direction of the sound.
Boom—
After the last thunderclap faded, the tall building instantly disappeared.
Tu You, who had followed Sang Chu into the tall building, anxiously clutched her hair tightly, “A Chu, A Chu, wake up!!!”
‘Hiss—’
Tu You didn’t hold back; he pulled out a large clump of Sang Chu’s hair, which finally made her wake up amidst the stinging pain, “You darn rabbit, what are you doing?”
Sang Chu turned her head, her eyes widening as she looked at the hair in the rabbit’s hand, “You, you, you actually pulled out so much of my hair!”
Seeing that she had regained her senses, Tu You quickly threw the hair in his hand to her. Although he felt guilty, he still looked at her righteously, “You’re still talking, if it weren’t for me, you’d still be under control. Look at where we are!”
Sang Chu looked around and realized they had entered that strange building, “What a strange place?”
This building looked like it was unfinished, with concrete scattered here and there. The entrance was completely open, and each floor was about tens of meters high.
Standing inside the building, all she could hear was the cawing of crows.
Sang Chu walked towards the entrance but found that outside was no longer the village she had seen before, but a vast expanse of seawater!
Bizarre fish swam around, even staring at her curiously from outside, their eyes like those of lurking hunters.
“It shouldn’t be a barrier, right?”
She placed her hand on the wall and felt it, confirming there was no barrier power. Tu You flew to her hand, leaned in, and sniffed at the empty doorway, “It’s probably not a barrier, but it feels like some powerful seal, very strange. Be careful.”
“Okay, let’s look around.”
Tu You watched Sang Chu instantly calm down and felt very curious, “A Chu, I’ve noticed that the more dangerous things get, the calmer you become. How do you do it?”
Sang Chu walked towards the stairs, smiling, “What can I do if I’m not calm? Wait for someone to save us? The more dangerous it is, the calmer you need to be. No matter what happens, self-rescue is the way to go. Waiting for others will only lead to death.”
“Alright, so what do we do now?”
Sang Chu cautiously walked upstairs, speaking softly, “I was probably under a fish’s enchantment just now, and it’s the deep sea outside. So, my guess is correct. The beings here are likely demons from the Fish Tribe. In the Fish Tribe, only the voices of mermen and mermaids have charm. So, it’s most likely one of these two.”
Tu You said, “Mermen and mermaids are similar. It’s just that mermen have demonic features, while mermaids are much more beautiful. But as far as I know, neither of them likes to eat people. Why would they eat children?”
As they spoke, Sang Chu had already reached the second floor.
“Who knows what monsters think? Maybe they’ve become perverted. Humans have scumbags, so it’s normal for monsters to have scum too.”
While speaking, Sang Chu looked around. Looking out from the door on the second floor, it was flat ground outside, and it seemed to be some kind of village?
Sang Chu: “Rabbit, you have good eyesight, help me see what that is over there?”
“What?”
Tu You looked in the direction Sang Chu pointed. He saw some strange banners hanging in that small village, “This looks like a demon-quelling banner, but it’s all written in Sanskrit, I can’t understand it.”
“Demon-quelling banner? Is it the same as the seals in the Demon Realm?”
She didn’t know much about things that quell demons. Tu You explained, “It should be similar. In the Demon Realm, this kind of seal is called a demon-sealing mark, and it has a similar effect to this demon-quelling banner. However, I can’t understand Sanskrit, so I don’t know what kind of banner it is.”
“It’s okay, let’s go up and take a look.”
The second floor was the same as the first floor, visible at a glance. Only the scenery outside the door was different, but they still couldn’t get out.
On the third floor, strange yellow banner cloths were hung everywhere, somewhat like the ones hanging in the small village outside the second floor.
Tu You flew to the door and looked at the writing on it. He shook his head at Sang Chu, “I can’t understand it.”
“Who are you people!”
The sudden angry shout made Sang Chu quickly turn around. She saw a group of middle-aged women holding various weapons and pointing them at Sang Chu.
One of the middle-aged women, wearing a floral dress, glared at Sang Chu and said, “Who are you, why are you in this place, and why are you touching our demon-quelling banners!”
“Are you an accomplice of that monster!”
“Are you trying to tear down the demon-quelling banner and release the monster? I warn you, leave quickly, or don’t blame us for being impolite!”
“Exactly, exactly, get lost!”
As they spoke, they advanced towards Sang Chu and the others. Sang Chu quickly raised her hands, “Aunties, I was just passing through this place and accidentally stumbled in. I’m sorry, I didn’t know this place was off-limits. My apologies.”
“Then, what is that flying thing on your shoulder?”
Sang Chu didn’t move rashly, but patiently explained in a soft voice, “He’s just a strange rabbit. If you aunties are worried, you can find something to tie him up. Really, we mean no harm.”
The leading aunt looked at Sang Chu. Seeing that she didn’t seem to have any ill intentions, she whispered to the person next to her in a dialect Sang Chu couldn’t understand.
Then she said to her, “Then you can slowly walk out.”
Sang Chu’s heart was filled with doubt as she thought about many things, but her expression remained calm as she slowly walked in the direction they pointed.
