Chapter 156: Magic Continent Sang Jing Wen Leaves the Small Town
With Lu Min Feng and Xiao Yi Fei safe, Sang Jing Wen could arrange for their departure from the city the next day.
As he was leaving Sang Chu’s room, he wanted to say something but chose to remain silent. However, Sang Chu turned off her optical computer and stood up. “Brother, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I just didn’t want you to be disappointed, afraid you’d discover that your sister isn’t as good as you imagine.”
Sang Chu’s voice was a little low, with a hint of grievance in her tone. Sang Jing Wen sighed helplessly and turned to look at Sang Chu:
“What kind of person do you think your brother is? I’m not angry, nor do I think what you did was wrong. Living in the apocalypse, I’m no longer the Sang Jing Wen I used to be. Sang Sang, you are my sister, and in my heart, you are more important than anyone else.
Even if you had to fight the whole world, I would always stand by your side. You’re afraid I’ll be disappointed if I know your secrets, but do you know that by not telling me, you make me disappointed in myself? I’d wonder if I, as your brother, had done something wrong to make you distrust me, to make you think I wouldn’t firmly choose you.”
“I’m sorry.”
Sang Chu lowered her head. Sang Jing Wen walked forward helplessly and gently stroked her long hair, his nose feeling a little sore. “Our parents passed away early, and I raised you since you were little. No one knows you better than I do. Sang Sang, I am your brother, a brother you can rely on.”
“Mm, I understand.”
Sang Chu sniffled slightly and looked at Sang Jing Wen. “Brother, you and Mu Xue should leave the city early tomorrow and wait for me. I’ll meet you once Tu You’s puppets arrive. To earn more money, you can let the slaves hunt with you. They can be abandoned if necessary.”
Sang Chu said this cautiously, afraid her brother would think she was too cold-blooded, as these slaves were still people. However, Sang Jing Wen didn’t say much, only gently stroking her head and saying softly, “Okay, I understand. Be careful in the city yourself. Prioritize your own safety.”
“Okay.”
With that, Sang Jing Wen walked out. Sang Chu finally let out a heavy sigh. She had been very nervous when she said that. She didn’t want to change her image in her brother’s eyes at all, but she had forgotten that estrangement and distance accumulate little by little like this.
When Yun Na emerged from the hovercar, she saw Sang Chu staring blankly at the door. She swayed her fish tail and moved towards Sang Chu.
“Master.”
“How are you feeling? Are you better?”
Yun Na’s face was rosy, and she shyly nodded at Sang Chu. “I’m much better. The injuries from those foxes are almost healed. Master, this medical pod is more effective than the Witch Hospital’s treatment!”
“It’s good that it’s useful. By the way, what do you think about the Cold Attack? How did you avoid it when you were trapped in that place before?”
Yun Na looked at Sang Chu and said without hesitation, “Master, we mermaids are not afraid of the Cold Attack, which is why we are hunted or captured.”
“You’re not afraid of the Cold Attack? Why?”
Yun Na: “I don’t know either. I’ve never feared the Cold Attack since I was born. The Cold Attack is a terrifying existence for species on the Magic Continent, but we mermaids are not afraid of it.”
Sang Chu looked at Yun Na, recalling the way people looked at Yun Na when she first brought her into the city, as if they wanted to devour her alive.
“When we first met, were the injuries on you caused by those Mountain Spirits and Monsters biting you?”
Upon hearing this, Yun Na’s face turned instantly pale, and she trembled, falling into painful memories.
Sang Chu took a step forward and pulled her into her arms. “I’m sorry, I just wanted to know what happened at the time.”
Yun Na’s hands trembled slightly as she hugged Sang Chu back, nodding slightly in her embrace, her voice barely audible. “Yes.”
Sang Chu gently patted Yun Na’s spine, comforting her, while her thoughts drifted far away.
“Yun Na, my brother and the others are good people. They won’t do anything bad to you. Will you go out of the city with them tomorrow?”
Yun Na’s hands suddenly clutched Sang Chu’s clothes tightly. “Do I have to go?”
“Yes, you have to go. If you’re scared, you can stay with Mu Xue, okay?”
Yun Na didn’t want to go with them, but since Sang Chu had already said so, she couldn’t refuse as a magic pet. “Mm, Master, you have to come and pick me up quickly.”
“Okay.”
After comforting Yun Na, she was no longer so panicked. Hiding in Sang Chu’s embrace, she didn’t see how terrifying Sang Chu’s eyes were.
The next day.
Despite Liu Sang’s various attempts to stop them, Sang Jing Wen and Mu Xue stubbornly insisted on leaving the city to find someone.
Sang Chu watched Liu Sang from the side and said, “Forget it, let them go. Help me find more people to protect them. I need to see the Dean. Can you arrange it for me?”
Liu Sang no longer cared about Sang Jing Wen and the others. Whether they lived or died was irrelevant to him; he only cared about Sang Chu. “Your Highness Sang wants to see the Dean? Then please follow me. As for the other two Highnesses, I am truly powerless. You can do as you please.”
After speaking, he stared intently at Sang Chu. She turned and said to Sang Jing Wen and the other person, “Brother, Xiao Xue, if you really want to go find someone, I won’t stop you, but you must return before dark!”
Sang Jing Wen: “Little sister, don’t worry. We’ll just search nearby. If we haven’t found them by dark, we’ll come back immediately!”
Sang Chu looked at them helplessly. “Fine, do as you see fit.”
With that, she left without looking back, following Liu Sang towards the Witch Hospital, complaining as she walked, “My brother is too kind, always taking on everything himself. I hope this incident will teach them a lesson.”
Liu Sang was stunned for a moment. A lesson learned through death?
“Your Highness Sang doesn’t seem to like them very much?”
Sang Chu sneered, “Do you think I left Rose City on my own accord!”
Liu Sang suddenly understood. No wonder she never stopped them from leaving the small town. “Your Highness Sang, is it because of them?”
“Lu Min Feng fought against his family for a commoner, and my brothers, considering themselves their friends, helped them escape the arranged marriage. But, as you know, with their abilities, I’d be impressed if they could get two miles. Yet, they are so arrogant and even demanded that I come with them. Who am I? I am the Cultivator of Rose Manor, forced to give up my comfortable life and protect them as they fled. Anyway, I don’t want to go out anymore. It’s good that they are seeking death; I can stay and continue to enjoy my life.”
“I see. Your Highness Sang has truly discerning taste in choosing our small town!”
