Chapter 147: Captain Kaido, Care To Explain?
“Uro-ro-ro-ro! Just you wait, Newgate!”
“My booze will definitely surprise you!”
On the shore of Pickle Island, Kaido was gorging himself without restraint under the watchful eyes of a large circle of Whitebeard Pirates members.
Having just gone through the most intense and heaviest-injury battle since his debut, he now urgently needed to replenish energy.
“Hmph! It had better be. If it doesn’t satisfy me, just you wait!”
Sitting across from him, Whitebeard also held a huge club bone meat in his hand. Having beaten Kaido for so long, he was a bit hungry too.
“By the way, you and Shiki, Linlin, and the others caused quite a commotion a while ago. Did you really take out that guy John?”
“Heh~ Who knows?”
“You’d have to ask that guy Shiki.”
Though Kaido knew full well, he put on a displeased face on the surface.
The Hachinosu Island incident a few months ago had caused a huge uproar in the New World. The gains and losses tied to the fall of a Sea Overlord were enough to throw countless people into chaos.
Since the attack at the time was a surprise assault, and the battle ended too quickly, many people only got the news afterward.
This left some interested parties with hardly any preparation time to make plans, so they could only hope to grab the biggest share of the benefits before everyone else reacted.
Even the big shots in the underworld had to immediately make their own responses, which further intensified the confusion.
The back-and-forth between various factions turned the already unrestful New World into boiling oil hit with cold water.
“So, does that mean the Golden Lion might really have gotten that John’s treasure?”
Teenager Marco with blond hair squatted beside Whitebeard, picked a pineapple from the pile of food, and took a direct bite.
“Not likely. With the Golden Lion’s flamboyant personality, if he really got the treasure, he’d absolutely recruit and buy horses without hiding it.”
The speaker was a beautiful girl with light blue long hair.
The girl looked a bit older than Marco, wearing a noble hat on her head, an ice-blue striped shirt on her upper body, and a short skirt on her lower body…
In the Whitebeard Pirates, which was full of big men, she was quite a striking sight.
“I see~ As expected of a senior.”
Still just an intern, Marco said with a smile.
“Hey! You there, Pineapple Head brat, you seem to be a Mythical Zoan ability user~”
“How about it? Want to come join me?”
Kaido completely ignored Whitebeard’s unkind gaze and directly invited him to join his pirate crew.
Earlier, when Marco was carrying food down from the ship, the flames wings he showed were clearly a Mythical Zoan ability.
Knowing full well the power of Mythical Zoan, Kaido naturally didn’t want to let it go.
“Haha~ Sorry, I won’t board anyone’s ship but Old Man’s.”
“Hey, Kaido! If you dare try to poach my son again, I’ll sink you straight into the sea!”
“Tch~ Big deal, just a Mythical Zoan brat. It’s not like my pirate crew doesn’t have…”
Rejected, Kaido immediately put on a disdainful look. Anyway, grapes you didn’t get are always sour.
“Cut the crap. When’s your booze arriving? This dry meat is impossible to swallow without booze.”
“What’s the rush? Even though this is right next to my territory, it won’t be that fast. At least a day and a night.”
“Tch! If I didn’t want to taste if that crappy booze of yours is really as good as the rumors, I wouldn’t bother waiting this long!”
Helpless, Whitebeard could only wash down the food with fresh water.
“Uro-ro-ro~ Since you find waiting boring, how about another post-meal exercise?”
Kaido also found the food tasteless, so he simply picked up his wolf fang club again, ready for another round.
The previous battle with Whitebeard had greatly improved his use of Conqueror’s Haki Infusion.
Now that his body could move again, he didn’t want to waste time.
“Since you’re so eager to get beat, I haven’t even had my fill of beating you yet.”
Whitebeard stood up, drew the Supreme Grade Great Sword【Cloud Cutting Sword】 stuck beside him, and twirled a sword flower.
Nothing was better for killing time than battle, especially since this kid Kaido had just tried to poach his son. He needed to teach him a proper lesson.
“Gula-la-la-la! Sons, get back!”
“Oh~ Old Man’s mighty!”
“Go for it, the one called Kaido over there, try to hold out longer!”
“Don’t fight here, the food will get wasted!”
“Jozu, take the【Moby Dick】 farther away so it doesn’t get caught in the aftermath.”
“What’s wrong, Teach? Hurry and go, so you don’t get caught in it.”
“Oh, oh~”
The black chubby boy named Teach looked enviously at the tall figure not far away, a hard-to-suppress longing flashing in his eyes.
……
“Thunder… Bagua!”
Kaido still opened with Thunder Bagua, but this time he transformed into Dragon Form early.
The opponent wasn’t someone he could afford to be arrogant against now.
“Hmph!”
Kaido’s response was a plain fist.
Clang!
The wolf fang club wrapped in powerful Haki collided in mid-air with that fist, actually producing the clang of metal striking metal.
“Still ridiculously strong as ever! Newgate!”
“But I’m not standing still either!”
“Hah!”
Kaido, already going all out, squeezed out more power from his body. His arm covered in green scales swelled another size, and he poured the ultimate violence of a mythical beast entirely into the wolf fang club in his hand.
Zila!
Red-black lightning uncontrollably spilled out from their clash, shattering everything around.
“You got a nice ability, brat, but you’re still too green right now!”
“Your era is still far off!”
Feeling the power transmitted through his fist, Whitebeard suddenly exerted force, directly shattering Kaido’s attack head-on.
The fist carrying quake power didn’t slow down, smashing viciously right into Kaido’s face!
Pop~~!
Whitebeard’s power-packed fist was like hitting glass, followed by huge spiderweb-like cracks rapidly spreading in the space.
Crack!!!
Boom!!!
The atmosphere was brutally quake-shattered, then producing a massive, hard-to-resist impact wave.
“Urgh!”
Under the shockwave, Kaido’s half-dragonized face was directly hammered into distortion, and then his massive body flew backward at an unbelievable speed.
Whoosh—!
Bang!!!
After smashing through who-knows-how-many trees in succession, Kaido finally crashed into the stone wall of the caldera. The towering mountain body was cracked with several huge fissures by him.
……
“Urgh…”
Crack!
After recovering for a good while, Kaido finally swung his tail to pry himself off the stone wall, then fell straight to the ground and sprawled there.
“Gula-la-la-la! What a tough brat!”
Seeing the other hadn’t lost consciousness, Whitebeard couldn’t help but marvel at how durable he was.
He’d clearly taken a day and night of beatings from him before, yet after just one meal he was lively again. Now, solidly hit with another punch, he still seemed fine.
“What’s wrong, brat? Planning to sleep till tomorrow like this?”
Seeing no sign of him getting up, Whitebeard grew curious.
“Get up, I’m not even warmed up yet.”
Kaido still didn’t respond, just lying on his back staring blankly at the sky, as if avoiding something.
“Hm?”
Only then did Whitebeard notice someone seemed to be standing on the mountaintop over there.
As he was about to go take a closer look, that figure slowly descended from the sky and landed in front of Kaido’s head.
The golden figure blocked the sun, making it hard for Kaido to see his face… but the next moment, a pair of crimson eyes locked straight onto Kaido’s as he lay on the ground.
“Captain Kaido, care to explain?”
