Chapter 32: Colored Drawing Sisters (upper)
One hour later, at the clearing—
“Whoa! What happened here, it looks like a missile plowed through!” Aoxi took a sharp breath as she looked at the unrecognizable training ground.
Obei squatted down, picked up some crystallized soil fragments, and rubbed them in her hand, surmising, “Someone must have fought here. The commotion this morning should have originated from this spot.”
“Huh? What commotion this morning?”
“You slept like a log, of course you wouldn’t know. This morning I thought it was an earthquake, and I shook you for ages but you didn’t wake up.”
“Then what happened??”
“Later, I felt the earthquake wasn’t that strong, and Big Sister didn’t come to find us, so I went back to sleep.”
Alright, the two sisters were birds of a feather.
“Clap, clap, clap~”
“Okay, enough idle chat. Let’s officially start training now.” The crisp sound of clapping hands cut off their bickering.
Seeing both of them looking at her, La spoke, “First up is Obei. I need to get you to master Observation Haki.”
“But Big Sister, I’ve been trying all day yesterday, and I really have no clue.” Obei scratched her indigo hair with some distress.
“If it weren’t for you and Aoxi both learning it, I’d have thought this ability had species limitations.”
“Aiya~ How can you compare yourself to us? Sister La and I are peerless geniuses, so of course we learned it right away.”
“But don’t be discouraged. You little dummy might learn it if you persist for a few more days. After all, no matter how dumb you are, you’re still my sister~” Aoxi put her hands on her hips, acting like a senior as she comforted (?).
Seeing the smug look on the other’s face, Obei ground her teeth in anger.
“The reason you can’t learn it is most likely because your learning style is very different from Aoxi’s.”
“Aoxi’s body learns first, and then her brain catches up with the relevant knowledge and principles… or it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t catch up. But for you, your brain needs to fully understand it before you can control your body to learn.”
“One of you is instinct-based, and the other is theory-based.” La’s voice was always like a clear spring, easily smoothing away the embers of indignation.
“Think first, then grasp it…” Obei muttered, having calmed down.
“Yes, the reason you haven’t mastered Observation Haki is partly because you can’t fully understand what King and the others mean by ‘aura’ and ‘intuition’.”
“On the other hand, your own thinking and reaction speed are too excellent.”
“Aoxi goes with her instinct, while you need to overcome your instinct.”
La could actually empathize with the feeling of having such excellent physical capabilities that it hinders one’s breakthrough, especially since this body’s stats were much higher than Obei’s and Aoxi’s.
However, unlike Obei, as soon as La understood this point, she could independently overcome her body’s instinctive inertia.
“So now I’ll teach you in a more suitable way. Close your eyes.”
Obei obediently closed her eyes, and then felt a warm touch on her forehead.
La gently pressed her forehead against Obei’s. Before Obei could say anything out of shyness, La softly said, “Earth, ocean, sunlight, creatures – everything around us contains energy.
Obei, I will temporarily seal your five senses. You need to try and find a new way to observe this world from the perspective of energy.”
“A new way, from the perspective of energy…”
As soon as the self-muttering voice ended, Obei felt her perception of the world gradually fading.
First her sight, then her hearing, then her smell and touch… until all five senses were plunged into silent darkness.
“Perceive the energy of external objects in the same way you perceive the divine power within your body. They are very weak, so be careful.”
La’s voice echoed in the darkness, soft and gentle, as if encouraging a toddler to bravely stand up.
Guided by La’s words and energy, Obei clumsily mobilized her senses.
This mysterious sensation, which existed above the five senses, became very difficult to control once it left her body. The more effort Obei exerted, the more she felt that sense of powerlessness, like a muddy bull entering the sea.
This feeling of powerlessness continued until she was about to exhaust her strength and give up, when she finally noticed scattered faint lights flickering in the previously pitch-black and silent world.
“Why is there… light? What, what is this… how is this happening?” Obei couldn’t help but ask.
“Energy radar.” La used a metaphor that Obei could easily understand.
BOOM!
It was as if clouds parted and the sun emerged in her mind, all doubts vanishing! The dark clouds hovering over Obei’s head were instantly blown away by this one sentence.
“Our bodies constantly emit energy, and when this energy encounters other energy bodies, it reflects back, bringing back information about that energy body. Coupled with our transformed bodies’ excellent sensitivity to energy…”
The moment La revealed a corner of the mystery, Obei, without any pause, independently completed all the principles.
“That’s right, it’s radar! Those lights are energy feedback! I get it, haha! I get it!”
As expected, ninety-nine percent of sweat still couldn’t compare to that one percent of inspiration~
“Shhh~ Don’t make a sound, Obei. Let’s feel the world of energy.”
La interrupted Obei, who had fallen into an excited state, and transmitted her own energy vision to her, allowing her to truly see a world devoid of everything but energy.
A golden light appeared on her forehead, and in Obei’s perception, the scene that resembled a forest shrouded in darkness suddenly began to change.
The sun had risen. Everything in this world became clearly visible the moment the sun appeared.
“This, is this the world Big Sister sees?”
Obei perceived everything around her with disbelief, as if she had returned to infancy, seeing the world for the first time after opening her eyes.
“Observation Haki—’See’ is the transmission of energy. ‘Hear’ is the rhythm of energy. Combining both allows one to comprehend the present and foresee the future.” La finally gave her summary.
“I don’t know if this is the same thing as what they call Observation Haki, but this method undoubtedly achieves the same effect.”
“This, this isn’t becoming a Laplace’s Demon, is it?” Obei exclaimed in astonishment.
“No, it’s not that exaggerated. After all, human power is limited, and so is divine power. Being able to predict only within a certain range around oneself is already the limit.”
“Um, what are you guys talking about? What radar? What energy world? Did someone turn into a monster?”
Aoxi, who was boredly kicking pebbles to the side, was completely lost. These two were talking about things she couldn’t understand again.
“It’s nothing, I was just explaining the principle of Observation Haki to Obei. No one turned into a monster.” La smiled and patted Aoxi’s head.
“Hehe~ So that means Obei learned it.”
“That’s right, the moment I saw ‘that world,’ I mastered it.” Obei responded, her confidence restored.
“As expected, I knew Sister La was the best. With just one move, any problem can be easily solved. Even a dummy like you, Obei, can be taught immediately.”
“You brat, are you asking for a beating again? I’m telling you, you can’t escape this time. I can already sense the direction you’re trying to dodge.”
“Hoho~ Then let’s try it! Secret Technique—Repeated Dodging! Side step!”
“I’ll smack you!”
“Aiyo! What’s going on? Why did my Secret Technique fail? No, it can’t be! Could it be that you really…”
“Hmph, with the mastery of Observation Haki, I am now invincible!”
“Ounorei! Take my Blue Butterfly Cloud-Walking Step!”
“Ha↑ha↓ha↑ha↓ Too slow, too slow! In front of my invincible Observation Haki, your resistance is as laughable as challenging fully powered Tearlaments with an off-meta deck!”
…
『 I used to think that 【 his 】 Chuunibyou was all distributed to Aoxi, but now it seems Obei wasn’t spared either, she just didn’t show it normally.
This must be that ‘Although it’s not written on this card, it has this effect’ thing~ 』
La quietly watched the two of them bicker, silently timing in her mind.
The moment ten minutes were up, she clapped her hands.
“Alright, break time is over. Next is Armament Haki teaching time.”
