Chapter 7: Dinner
“Since we circled around so quickly and came back, this should just be a small island.”
La shifted her gaze back to the distant sea and said.
“And it seems to be an uninhabited island. We walked along the seaside the whole way and didn’t see any traces of human activity.” Obei added.
“The animals on the island seem to be hiding from us too. We clearly saw footprints along the way but didn’t spot a single live one, only a few crabs on the beach. That’s really strange.”
Aoxi joined the discussion too. “By the way, my stomach is already a bit hungry. What about you, Sister La?”
“No, I’m not hungry at all.”
“Huh? You’ve been awake the whole time and led us for so long. Your energy consumption should be much greater than ours, so how are you not hungry?”
When it came to food, Aoxi’s thinking sped up especially fast.
“This body is filled with divine power. In theory, I won’t feel hunger and don’t need to eat. You should be able to do the same.”
“Then why do I feel hungry?” Aoxi asked.
“Isn’t it obvious? You’re just craving it~” Obei said irritably.
“How do you talk to an elder? What a cheeky brat.” Aoxi immediately picked up her weapon.
“You!”
“The divine power in my body flows like blood, spreading to every part of the body and forming a cycle within.
But the power in your bodies right now is still in a static state, so you need to supplement energy from the outside.
Once you can skillfully control the divine power in your bodies, you won’t need to eat.” La explained.
“I see. No wonder Big Sister, you’ve always seemed full of energy.”
Obei nodded. She was very receptive to this kind of logical and coherent explanation.
“So what do we do? The more I think about it, the hungrier I get. I really want to eat roasted chicken wings~ I shouldn’t have played Yu-Gi-Oh!.”
Aoxi’s socially inept nature began to show. “Ribbit! Sister La, quickly use your invincible Sun God power to think of something!”
“Don’t make things hard for Big Sister. We haven’t seen a single thing with feathers along the way. Where am I supposed to find chicken wings for you?
Might as well go to the beach and see if we can pick up a few crabs.” Though she said that, Obei was actually a bit hungry too.
“Here’s the plan. I’ll go into the forest to find some wild vegetables and wild fruits for you. Aoxi, you two wait here for me.”
“Big Sister, I’ll go with you. There might be danger in the forest.” Obei wanted to follow.
“No need. I have a hypothesis I want to verify.
You two stay here obediently. If I’m right, there might be a surprise for you.”
La refused Obei’s offer to follow and walked toward the woods with small steps.
But after two steps, she suddenly stopped, turned back, and instructed the two: “Don’t run around here, and no fighting.”

Seeing the two nod obediently, La turned back around after her instructions and continued toward the forest.

Half an hour later, under a huge tree near the center of the forest, La indeed found a large group of animals gathered together.

It seemed they were scared by the auras from Aoxi and Obei, with survival instinct overriding predation instinct, so they hid together. 』
La’s hypothesis was correct. The current Aoxi and Obei couldn’t control their own auras at all.
Though they still couldn’t use power, the aura belonging to the Egyptian God Cards was recklessly spilling out in all directions, scaring all the animals on the island into hiding together trembling.
This was also why, when they first arrived in this world, even though they were unconscious, they weren’t attacked at all.
Of course, even if a beast had fearlessly attacked them back then, it probably couldn’t break their skin.
La had already tested it. This current body, even without using divine power, had frightening intensity in all aspects.
The animals showed no reaction to La’s arrival. After all, they didn’t have the guts to approach the three who fell from the sky, so they didn’t recognize La and just thought she was there to hide from those two disasters too.
As for restraining her own aura, La had naturally done it when she first woke up. Plus her undiscovered innate aura of affinity for all things, at this moment, La appeared kind and harmless to those animals.
One black-and-white bear-like animal even scooted back a bit to make a small space for her.
But regrettably, La’s emotions hadn’t developed to the point of making friends with animals.
Her gaze swept over the group of tigers, leopards, deer, and sheep, and she quickly selected her prey.
La extended one finger. Two flames like fireflies formed at her fingertip and flew toward a creature that looked like a chicken, instantly singeing its feathers clean.
After dealing with the feathers, the flames expanded, completely enveloping the two chickens. Soon, the skin was roasted to a slightly golden crisp, while the internal organs were entirely incinerated to nothing.
La’s control over flames was improving rapidly. Even a small flame could precisely control temperature at different spots.
Amid the gazes of the other animals who suddenly trembled even more, La walked up, picked up the two roasted chickens, and looked them over.
“The wings are a bit small. As expected, without wind, flying is too taxing, so they degenerated? I hope Aoxi doesn’t mind.”
Leaving behind a group of animals nearly scared out of their wits, La carried the two chickens in one hand and gathered some wild fruits around—these were varieties La had personally tasted and selected as tasty.
As for whether they were poisonous, La figured there was no need to check. Biological toxins probably only served as natural seasonings for the current three.
After picking two huge leaves at the end and filling two pots made from bamboo-like plants with spring water, La used her long skirt to carry the pile of things back the way she came.

“Wow~ So awesome, Sister La! You actually found food, and it’s roasted chicken! Yay!”
Back at the shore, Aoxi, who had been lying on the ground from hunger, saw the pile of food and did a cat flip, jumping up.
La squatted down and placed all the food from her skirt onto the leaves.
“Aoxi, sit properly and eat slowly. Don’t wolf it down.
There’s water in the bamboo tube. Don’t choke.
The pile of fruits to your left is sweet, the other pile is sour. Don’t mix them up.
The remaining chicken is Obei’s. Don’t eat it all…… Obei, you sit down and eat too.”
“Got it.”
Obei sat down as she spoke, but didn’t start eating right away. Instead, she tore off a chicken leg and handed it to La first.
“Big Sister, eat with us.”
“Oh! Right, right! Sister La, eat with us too~” Aoxi reacted too and tore off a wing to hand to her.
La originally wanted to say she didn’t need it, but seeing the expectant looks in their eyes, she smiled and accepted the chicken leg and chicken wing.
The three thus gathered together and enjoyed their first dinner in this world.
