Chapter 175: Directly Facing The Liang Family
At nine in the evening, Liancheng arrived at the airport.
It hadn’t snowed in Iceland for the past few days, and the wind wasn’t strong either.
Through the entire transparent glass of the VIP lounge, stars clustered together, filling the pale lavender sky curtain like fine, colorful gauze.
Liancheng leaned against the single-seater sofa, engrossed in watching. Bai Ying sat with her, saying, “I feel like I came to Iceland for nothing; I haven’t seen the aurora at all.”
Liancheng responded, “The aurora isn’t beautiful. The current starry sky is better.”
Bai Ying tilted her head and leaned against Liancheng’s shoulder. “I still remember our past gatherings. You wanted to see the aurora with Shen Lichuan, and go to the South of France with me to see lavender.”
Liancheng pressed her profile against Bai Ying’s head. “Do you still want to see it then?”
“See—” Bai Ying sat up straight. “Holy crap, the three vipers are here.”
From the depths where the tarmac lighting intertwined with the night, a private jet emerged.
The nose emerged from the dark night, clearly illuminated by the bright guiding lights on both sides of the runway. She recognized the model; it wasn’t Father Liang’s Boeing 767-33A.
It was Liang Chaosu’s Gulfstream G650.
Liancheng had a bad impression of this Gulfstream. After Liang Chaosu had finalized the model with the private jet salesperson, the salesperson recommended custom interior design by M Company. From the sofas to the chairs, from the solid wood dining table to the double bed in the rest room, Liang Chaosu disliked everything and was extremely picky.
For the year it took to pay the deposit and sign the contract, they went back and forth revising the plan. He himself didn’t have a clear preference and kept asking for her opinion.
Liancheng was extremely annoyed by his demanding attitude.
What opinion could she possibly have? Besides, did she dare have an opinion back then? If M Company wasn’t satisfactory, then L Company. Every time he asked, Liancheng would tentatively suggest another brand. There were so many luxury brands in the world; surely there was one that could satisfy his pickiness.
In the end, only C Company was left. Upon delivery, Liang Chaosu was utterly displeased. Liancheng was accused of not being sincere or attentive and of being perfunctory.
Liancheng felt irritated and stifled.
What constituted a sincere and earnest effort? For the issue of the airplane’s interior, she had nearly memorized every luxury brand in the world and their corresponding styles. Coupled with the impending final exams, she was utterly exhausted.
Bai Ying suddenly pushed her. Liancheng saw the aircraft lower its gangway.
In the dim yellow light of the cabin door, Mother Liang appeared first. She wore a coat and a down jacket, then turned to help Liang Wenfei, who was pregnant. She carefully descended the gangway, with Father Liang following behind them.
The night wind tousled all three of their hair. Father Liang, ignoring himself, pulled up Mother Liang’s hood from behind, while Mother Liang adjusted Liang Wenfei’s scarf.
Their actions were intimate, like a loving family.
Bai Ying stealthily glanced at Liancheng. She looked towards the tarmac, her gaze unwavering, her expression impassive.
Bai Ying’s shoulders relaxed, and she spoke with renewed determination, “Should we go up and confront them? I see Xiao Da brought people. Is Crazy Liang trying to protect you, letting you vent your anger?”
Liancheng’s reaction was indifferent. “Those are his biological parents and sister.”
The distance was close, and their voices weren’t loud, just enough for the two of them to hear. But Xiao Da, who was observing intently nearby, noticed Liancheng’s unusual attitude and immediately stepped forward. However, he couldn’t be too direct, as it might incite trouble, nor too obscure, as many things left unsaid would undoubtedly lead to misunderstandings.
“I am escorting you today precisely to ensure your safety.”
Bai Ying was certain. Crazy Liang was now willing to risk everything for Liancheng, to willingly stab himself in the heart. How could he possibly still protect those parents who had treated Liancheng so ruthlessly?
She linked her fingers with Liancheng’s. “Although I can’t stand Crazy Liang’s behavior, if there’s an opportunity for revenge, we should use it.”
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, Father Liang, who had been walking last, also descended the gangway. Mother Liang and Liang Wenfei had already reached the car, and the waiting driver had opened the door in advance, but had not yet gotten out.
Mother Liang’s face darkened. She reached for the door handle herself, but after several attempts, the door remained locked from the inside. Seeing the driver sitting motionless in the driver’s seat, she tightened her down jacket, nearly losing her composure as a noblewoman.
Liancheng asked, “What constitutes revenge?”
Bai Ying answered without hesitation, “Liang Wenfei pulled your hair, slapped you, kicked you three times, and her daily insults can’t even be counted. Her father stood by and did nothing, her mother was biased, making you go on a blind date with someone with AIDS, and she even tried to harm you in Iceland.”
“I’ve kept an account of every single one of these grievances. Today, let’s start by taking a little. You should also pull Liang Wenfei’s hair and slap her. We won’t kick her for now; tormenting someone to the point of miscarriage is too vicious.”
“As for her parents, don’t engage with them. Listen to me scold. After all, the Liang family raised you. There are some things I’m afraid you won’t be able to say.”
Xiao Da was no longer surprised. High society values decorum. Privately, noble young ladies might hate their rivals enough to eat them alive, but during meetings, they wouldn’t miss a single polite greeting.
Previously, Liang Wenfei had apologized to Liancheng in the crowded corridors of Bai Family Hospital to gain a reputation for humility and willingness to admit her mistakes.
Of course, there were also those with genuine temperaments, but someone who was so real, unpretentious, and openly expressive of their feelings was something he had only seen in Bai Ying over the years.
Liancheng remained motionless.
Bai Ying’s face paled. “You’re not going?”
Liancheng gestured for her to look outside the window. “They’re coming over.”
The car door was locked, and the driver feigned deafness, clearly trying to prevent them from getting in. Father Liang was negotiating with airport staff, and Mother Liang was furious. Conversely, Liang Wenfei was the first to spot Liancheng in the waiting lounge not far away.
She called out to Father Liang.
Father Liang noticed Xiao Da standing beside Liancheng and was astonished. After the initial shock, many questions in his mind began to make sense.
The ground staff led them over. As soon as Father Liang entered the VIP lounge, his gaze immediately fixed on Liancheng’s lower abdomen.
Liang Wenfei asked before he did, “Where is your child?”
She was only two and a half weeks further along in her pregnancy than Liancheng. She had gained some weight and her pregnancy started showing at two months. Liancheng was slimmer, so it was normal for her pregnancy to be less apparent.
However, no matter how normal it was, for her to still have a completely flat abdomen without any curve close to four months along was unusual.
Father Liang slowly walked closer. “When did this happen?”
Bai Ying understood what he was referring to. “There’s no indication of any involvement with anyone from your Liang family. You’re the mastermind behind the scenes; why are you acting like a naive fool, feigning confusion? Do you think that will absolve you?”
Father Liang ignored her, narrowing his eyes as he examined Liancheng. Behind him, Mother Liang held Liang Wenfei back from impulsively stepping forward, her gaze also fixed on Liancheng. She felt a sense of relief.
The illegitimate child was gone. Between a man and a woman, a child was a rope, even a chain. Without a child, like that couple from the Gu family, what good was marrying for a lifetime? In the end, they still parted ways.
Liancheng remained silent. Father Liang suddenly smiled, his voice gentle and somewhat soothing.
“If you still want your identity within the Liang family, it means you still acknowledge me as your father. In the past, I misunderstood you, and my excessive methods were wrong. I hurt your heart and harmed your body. When we return to the country, I will make amends. Whatever you want, I will help you.”
“Help with what?” Liancheng also smiled, a bitter, shameful smile. After seeing through their malice and falsehoods, she felt disgusted, as if she could see everything clearly.
“Help me leave your son, help yourself reclaim the Chairman’s position, help your wife regain her honor and dignity, help the Liang family maintain its current status, and allow Liang’s to continue expanding?”
Liancheng’s gaze passed over his shoulder to Liang Wenfei, but her words were still directed at Father Liang.
“You are so fatherly, even helping me, your eyesore. Why don’t you help your own biological daughter? You’re so smart and cunning, having planned so much, almost perfectly, yet you haven’t made any plans for her. Is it because Liang Wenfei isn’t as important to you?”
Liang Wenfei angrily accused her, “You’re talking nonsense! Do you think I’ll believe your instigation?”
Liancheng’s tone was calm. “Whether I am instigating or not, you know in your heart.”
Liang Wenfei trembled uncontrollably. She wanted Shen Lichuan, and she was already pregnant, yet Father Liang had never stood up for her. The only time he was willing to help the Shen family through their crisis, he had his own motives.
