Chapter 298: Loss And Win
Her cold tone was like a machine devoid of emotion, equipped with the world’s deadliest weapons, piercing bone and flesh.
“There’s also a recording.”
Waves broke in Liang Chaosu’s eyes, tiny and subtle; he was surprised.
Liancheng spoke word by word, dismissively, “You don’t need to destroy the Liang family, destroy yourself, or destroy more. Like a seed of love that disregards everything, I don’t love you because of your grave sins. This is too much like you’re playing the victim to solicit sympathy.”
Liang Chaosu’s face faded, from the corners of his mouth to his eyebrows and eyes. Anger, shock, obsession, and sorrow spread throughout the small compartment, his emotions, his waves of power, shrinking like a net, gradually calming and controlling themselves, disappearing bit by bit.
He had always been able to keep his composure.
The anger he had vented was all within his grasp.
Seemingly out of control, but actually in control; conversely, seemingly in control, but actually out of control.
Liancheng guessed that it was her attitude after learning about the recording leak that truly wounded him.
Involuntarily, even more cruel.
“In the past few years, there have been many things I disliked about you, but there’s one thing I’ve always admired and respected.”
Liang Chaosu’s ability was undeniable. Not only among the younger generation in Nan Province, but even among the older generation of old foxes, he was recognized as difficult to deal with and not to be trifled with.
Those in the North who were not convinced, every item, every account, how much benefit they took from him, how much face they insulted, within a year, he would settle the score doubly.
Liancheng avoided his gaze and brushed his hand away, “But now when I think of you, seeing you come to Europe, it’s like a sticky piece of candy I can’t shake off, a lapdog I can’t get rid of.”
She looked at the yellowed dust cover, “It’s like this faded cloth. Feng Shien was not as good as you before, but now, you are not as good as Feng Shien.”
Liang Chaosu stared at her expressionlessly. Liancheng saw herself in his dark, thick pupils, a face full of disdain, sharp and sarcastic.
She lowered her eyes, not looking further.
Liang Chaosu did not force her. He held her arm, like a sculpture, motionless.
The atmosphere subsided from surging tides to a sensitive silence.
Liancheng’s gaze was on his hard waist and abdomen. She vaguely heard a heartbeat in her ear, unsure if it was hers or his.
It beat so erratically, sound after sound, impact after impact.
“Tell me, you don’t want to lie anymore.”
His voice was deep, cold, with an imperceptible hoarseness.
Liancheng looked up, “Brother, I used to lie to coax you, but now…”
She confronted him, venomously, “Is that necessary?”
Liang Chaosu began to laugh, inappropriately, a short burst.
His chest also vibrated. His heart was directly facing Liancheng’s face. With a sudden pull, he pressed the back of her head with his other hand, restricting her entire body and pulling her tightly into his embrace.
The man lowered his head, his breath impacting her ear, “Lying in that hospital room in Iceland, every night I wondered, you hate this relationship so much, you hate me so much, how can I chisel through the hatred and barriers in your heart and enter.”
The sinister and dangerous topic, the wildly coercive posture, made Liancheng’s hair stand on end.
“Liang Chao…”
“Aren’t you calling me brother?” His voice was smiling, close to her ear, like a whisper by her ear, yet like ice spurs born from the bone marrow, yet it stirred feelings, lingering with affection.
“You like Shen Lichuan. I don’t bother to learn from him, but loving couples tolerate each other unconditionally, and compromise. I was already capable of that. I was afraid of exposing myself during those four years, but after returning to the country, it’s no longer necessary. Whatever you want to do, I’ll accompany you.”
“If you persist, I will be cowardly. If you show any sign of perishing together, I will hand over victory and admit defeat, and return to the Lin family. Lin Xianzi will expose the mole. I can afford to lose, and I will lose willingly and be overjoyed.”
He caressed her like that, behind her ear, at the nape of her neck. Liancheng’s goosebumps rose layer by layer.
She felt dizzy.
Liang Chaosu lifted her face and brushed aside her hair strands. “Power, benefit, reputation. What you wanted, the collapse of everything, is almost here. Even Xiao Da has started to pity me. I have lost my radiance, you are satisfied and have vented your anger, so why is it that I am the one playing the victim to solicit sympathy?”
Liancheng’s scalp tingled. She couldn’t avoid it, and closed her eyes, refusing to look at him.
Liang Chaosu’s scalding palm pressed against her cheek, as if casually, with an impossibly light touch.
“It was you who personally agreed to the agreement. My reputation and status at that level were ruined, and I haven’t been punished yet because the higher-ups are waiting for my father’s evidence to implicate the entire Liang family. If I lose my foundation and am imprisoned in a few months, this is a fact that cannot be changed.”
Liancheng’s eyes opened.
In her line of sight, the ceiling light was a yellow-white. Liang Chaosu’s face, with its intense focus, was within reach, so close that his eyes were filled with her. Even in his disheveled state, though he was hurtful, malicious, and outwardly fierce but inwardly weak, it was all for her.
“My mom found the mole. You said you could afford to lose. The agreement was canceled long ago. I don’t need you to fulfill it.”
“Then do you still hate me?”
Liancheng didn’t answer, and countered, “What do you want to say.”
This question made Liang Chaosu laugh out loud, a muffled sound that vibrated through his hard chest bone, creating a spreading tremor that startled Liancheng.
“You don’t hate me.” He stared intently into her eyes. “But you treat the man you’ve been intimate with for thousands of days and nights as a brother?”
Liancheng’s ears exploded, the shockwave resounding.
He held her, not letting go of her, “And Feng Shien, you weren’t lying, you like him. How can you tolerate him having ulterior motives and impure feelings?”
Liancheng’s emotions stretched to their limit, and she stared at him, “Why can’t I tolerate it? Materialism and worldly wisdom are human nature. This is just the beginning. In the future, deep love will be different. What truly makes one unbearable are immorality, narrow-mindedness, and greed. If I don’t hate you, does that mean I have to accept these aspects of you? If I don’t treat you as a brother, should I treat you as a rapist?”
It was as if ice water, poured into her veins in a world of ice and snow, or as if countless lava flows exploded and erupted simultaneously, rushing to Liang Chaosu’s skull.
He took a deep breath, unable to control the surging blood that boiled up to his eye sockets, igniting his eyeballs, turning them a bloody red.
He could no longer distinguish the truth or falsehood in her words. He questioned and threatened repeatedly, changing the subject. Her answer was the same as always.
Thinking this way, feeling this disgust, making such a decisive pronouncement.
Liancheng was still in his arms, under his control. She saw his bloodshot eyes, his disheveled and fallen state, like a bloody and homeless lone wolf. Yet the atmosphere became even more vigorous and brutal.
After so long of confronting each other, her entire being had become numb to the flesh and blood. At this moment, she had completely lost all sensation. She couldn’t endure it anymore, she couldn’t cope.
“Since you knew that day, it was destined to be eternal damnation from the start. Don’t linger in Europe anymore.”
Before the words were out, she broke free, opened the door, and left.
…………………………………………
Before Lin Xianzi returned to the VIP lounge, Liancheng had already slipped back.
As soon as she sat down, Bai Ying squeezed over, “How was it? What was his reaction? You were too ruthless. Did he lay a hand on you?”
Liancheng was stunned, her mind wandering, and she mumbled vaguely, “No, he just pulled my arm.”
Bai Ying anxiously rolled up her sleeve. Her arm was fair and tender, with a few scattered marks, but no bruises.
“Does it hurt? He probably didn’t use much force.”
Bai Ying recalled, Liang Chaosu was actually all bark and no bite, relying solely on his imposing aura to intimidate people into fearing him. If Liancheng had seen this clearly in those years and wasn’t afraid of him, every time he went crazy, she could have slapped him back and forth until he was angry, but he still wouldn’t have dared to retaliate.
Liancheng turned her head and stared blankly, “Bai Ying, if Feng Shien is willing, what do you think about me officially dating him?”
