Chapter 248: Surrounded
“A bunch of people whose brains got caught in the door, chasing after Grandpa relentlessly.”
The medic perched on the tree branch waited for the Blue Team below to leave before finally letting out a sigh of relief and relaxing completely.
He wiped the sweat beads covering his forehead with his sleeve, complaining about the Blue Team that had been chasing him relentlessly.
After several hours of stealth and escape, he finally reached the edge of the forest.
The Blue Team that had just passed by was the last force deployed here by the Night Tiger Reconnaissance Company.
“I wonder if those guys who bombed us are still in the vicinity?”
Through the gaps in the leaves, the medic gazed into the distance to observe the surroundings.
The morning mountain ridges were shrouded in mist, severely obstructing visibility, so the medic couldn’t see much.
“Alright, rest a bit and keep running. I wonder how the others are doing?”
After running all night, the medic succumbed to sleepiness, mumbling as he drifted off into sleep, unaware that Xi Wa was leading people straight toward him.
“Could these guys really be invisible? Xiao Zhuang slipped away and hasn’t shown his face since.” A searching Blue Team soldier said.
They hadn’t slept all night, all searching for people in the forest.
To put it bluntly, they had basically combed through this forest.
“Could they have already broken out?”
Another Blue Team member voiced another possibility.
Everyone looked at the leading Xi Wa. If the Red Team really escaped, their losses and efforts would all be in vain, and the Night Tiger Reconnaissance Company’s reputation would truly hit the ground.
“How could a breakout happen without any noise? You’re underestimating the Armored Brigade providing outer support.
Their defensive lines are very dense, so the probability of Wolf Fang successfully infiltrating is too low.
I might believe it if one or two broke out forcefully.”
After a busy night, Xi Wa’s face was full of fatigue, his eyes bloodshot, but even so he forced himself to stay alert, not missing any clue.
Now Wolf Fang and Night Tiger had a real grudge. Without impressive battle records, the company’s accumulated prestige would take a hit.
Just this bit of loss wasn’t much, but what he feared most was the change in attitude from above after the exercise ended.
The treatment elite units received compared to ordinary companies could be described as worlds apart.
While Xi Wa and the others spoke, their voices were kept very low. There were at least three Red Team members still uncaptured in the forest, so they made as little noise as possible.
But the medic resting in the tree canopy still heard it. He slept lightly anyway, and the slightest sound could wake him.
“Looks like an Armored Brigade is stationed on the perimeter. No wonder the bombardment earlier was so intense.”
The medic pondered inwardly. Moments later, he started worrying again about how to break out.
Just as those Blue Team members who passed by had said, with a whole brigade deployed around, infiltrating without making any noise was extremely difficult. Anyway, he couldn’t think of any method.
“If Chang Ning were here, it would be easy. Maybe he could come up with something.”
Some people don’t seem standout usually, but you miss them when they’re not around.
The medic was really missing Chang Ning now. If Chang Ning were here, even if they couldn’t break out, they wouldn’t face any danger for a while.
Now the vicinity was full of dangers everywhere. One wrong move and they’d be cornered by the Blue Team, just like now.
“Person in the tree, come down quick! You’ve been exposed!”
The shouting Blue Team member was a bit angry, with a very rude tone.
Seeing those Blue Team members who had returned below the tree, the medic clung to the trunk, utterly embarrassed.
He didn’t look very cool right now, with one foot reaching down for a branch as a foothold to descend, not knowing this group of Blue Team would suddenly appear.
“Blue Team brothers, please stay calm. Don’t shoot by accident. I’m coming down right now, heh heh heh~”
The medic on the tree clumsily climbed down. With those moves, no one would believe this guy was a Special Forces Soldier.
Special Forces Soldier? With this!
The group of Blue Team below felt they could do better if they tried. No way around it, the medic’s behavior was too misleading.
His movements carried a sense of unfamiliarity; someone might even believe he was a new recruit.
“Wolf Fang even took you in? You didn’t get in through the back door, did you, kid? Hahaha~” A Blue Team member teased.
“I’m just a military doctor in Wolf Fang, the kind that doesn’t participate in training. More like a civilian staff actually.
Not through the back door. I got in by exam, a proper college graduate.”
Strictly speaking, this wasn’t deceiving them. Before enlisting, he was a surgical doctor who graduated from medical school.
“Military doctor? A military doctor who doesn’t train? Has Wolf Fang run out of people to send someone like you out?”
Clearly, the Blue Team didn’t believe the medic’s words; his story had too many holes.
How could they send a civilian staff for such behind enemy lines work? A little thought showed it was impossible.
This Wolf Fang guy in front of them wasn’t being honest, full of tricks, still trying to deceive them even when surrounded.
“Be honest, kid. If you don’t want to suffer, tell me the truth!
If I find out you’re lying, I’ll show you why the flowers are so red!”
While they talked, the medic had slid down the trunk, and the feeling of his feet on the ground was so reassuring.
“No, no.”
With the Blue Team starting to threaten him, the medic waved his hands repeatedly, indicating he would fully cooperate.
Five people opposite him, and he was the only Red Team. If he didn’t steady these Blue Team first, the medic really feared they’d give him no chance and subject him to a righteous group beating, or even shoot.
If it came to fighting, he wasn’t scared at all. Mere five people wouldn’t make him panic.
“Hands on head, squat down!”
Seeing this guy grinning like he posed no threat, maybe really just a civilian staff as he claimed, the Blue Team gradually lowered their guard, their tone no longer as fierce as before.
“Alright, alright, got it.”
The medic complied, holding his head and slowly squatting down in front of the Blue Team.
But his lively eyes weren’t as honest as he appeared, constantly using peripheral vision to observe the surroundings, checking for other Blue Team nearby and planning escape routes.
Once the target squatted, a Blue Team soldier pulled out handcuffs and approached the medic, warning him not to do anything that could cause misunderstanding.
This Blue Team soldier approached from the front, blocking his comrades’ line of sight. Perhaps because the target was too cooperative and seemed harmless, and with their numerical advantage, they didn’t mind this “small detail”.
The opportunity was right in front of him, and the medic’s smile grew even brighter.
