Chapter 273: Teammates’ Assists
Xiao Fei left without waiting for Chang Ning’s response.
Only the faint fragrance in the elevator and the dazed Chang Ning could prove that something unspeakable to outsiders had happened here.
From that day on, whenever Chang Ning had free time, he would involuntarily zone out, mumbling words no one could understand.
“What did she mean by that sentence?”

Since the conversation in the elevator yesterday, Chang Ning hadn’t seen Xiao Fei again.

“How did you guys get here?”

Qiang Zi plopped down on the edge of Chang Ning’s hospital bed, sizing up the hospital room.
“Not bad, you’re in a single room, buddy.”
“Jealous? I can switch with you.”
Chang Ning wasn’t about to indulge Qiang Zi; this guy was just teasing him.
“We asked Gao Zhong Dui for leave before coming, but he only told us your location. We’ll need you to guide us to Xiao Zhuang later.”
Geng Jihui explained the reason and assigned the mission to Chang Ning.
He was always so straightforward.
“No problem, let’s go now.”
With that, Chang Ning led the group out of the hospital room to Xiao Zhuang’s place.
Of course, when passing the nurse station, they had to report to them; we can’t cause trouble for people.
As soon as the group entered the lobby, everyone except Chang Ning looked grim and turned toward the inpatient department entrance.

A captain company commander was approaching them carrying a bag of fruit.

Although he hadn’t met this new company commander in person during the exercise, he had heard about him early on, and plus he remembered the related plot; they were old acquaintances without meeting.
“That’s the new company commander of Night Tiger Reconnaissance Company, right?”
Chang Ning lightly nudged Lao Pao beside him.
“Yeah, he’s the one who nearly annihilated us in the exercise.”
“Everyone, even a defeated general has the demeanor of one; don’t embarrass us.”
Geng Jihui knew his buddies; if he didn’t warn them ahead, who knows what trouble they might cause.
Then, he flashed a smile and shook hands with Captain Lin.
“Hello, I’m Geng Jihui of Wolf Fang Special Forces Detachment.”
“Oh, hello.
We’re acquainted through battle now. In the exercise, you guys left us covered in dirt; worthy of being our military region’s sharp blade.”
Here, Captain Lin was sincerely praising these few from Lone Wolf B Squad; it was all true, and he truly valued this group from the bottom of his heart.
At the same time, after the exercise ended, he hadn’t skimped on studying them, aiming to annihilate Wolf Fang in the next exercise.
“Let’s learn from each other.”
Geng Jihui said with a smile.
“I have a comrade hospitalized here, so I’ll head out first.”

Seeing this, Ostrich knew he had no chance and didn’t say the rest.
Actually, Xiao Fei didn’t know why she was so bold; she had spotted Chang Ning in the inpatient department lobby early on and couldn’t resist approaching him.

Who this “he” specifically referred to, only Xiao Fei knew in her heart.
It was that familiar elevator again, and the girl by his side hadn’t changed.
With more people, their distance was even closer than last time.
Chang Ning felt like he could hear her breathing.
In places the two couldn’t see, the others from Lone Wolf B Squad were frequently exchanging glances.

After a bit, they finished passing info and showed sly grins; clearly, these people besides Chang Ning and Xiao Fei had reached some agreement.
Then everyone let out an “ouch” and toppled backward in unison, as if the elevator had shaken violently.
With the space compressed, Chang Ning instinctively pulled Xiao Fei into his arms, his arms braced against the elevator wall forming a small space enclosing her.
Their eyes met, and time seemed to stop flowing in that moment.
The rest of B Squad had already stood up and moved as far as possible from the two immersed in their own world.
Their faces were full of knowing smiles, quietly watching Chang Ning and Xiao Fei.
