Chapter 15: Turning The Tables
Shanghai, Fukaisen Road, Lin Mansion.
After meeting with Jianbing, Chen Yang felt a heavy weight in his heart.
He didn’t know if it was because the words “Long live the people” were too heavy, making Chen Yang feel as if he was carrying millions of pounds on his shoulders.
“Young Master, what’s wrong with you?” Lin Yongren carried a pot of tea to Chen Yang’s side and familiarly helped him brew and pour the tea.
“Nothing,” Chen Yang replied casually, then suddenly asked Lin Yongren, who was brewing tea in front of him, “A-Ren, you’re doing well in the Lin family, so why did you think of going out to do business on your own?”
Lin Yongren’s hand paused in mid-air, then he naturally poured the tea full.
“Young Master, I’m different from you.”
“You are a young master, one of the upper class, while I am just an insignificant servant.”
“Of course, I’m not complaining about anything. My father was a servant, so it’s only natural that I should be one too, but things are different now.”
“My wife is already pregnant, and if I don’t go out, my child will also be a servant in the future.”
“I can be a servant, but my child cannot.”
Chen Yang felt a slight stir in his heart upon hearing this, but he still kindly reminded him, “A-Ren, doing business involves risk. Don’t look at others making a fortune; if you make a wrong decision, you might lose everything.”
“You now have a family and a child, so I think you should still seek a stable life.”
Lin Yongren smiled, “Young Master, you are truly a good person.”
“I also know that doing business involves risk, but we Chinese people often say, better to be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix.”
“In the future, my child may not achieve much, but his choices can be more than mine.”
“Young Master, I no longer have the right to choose my life, but I hope he does.”
Lin Yongren’s words instantly brightened Chen Yang’s eyes, “Yes, better to be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix.”
“A-Ren, you are indeed a qualified father.”
“Alright, I can help you, but let me say this upfront: you put in three shops and only get ten percent of the shares.”
“If you are willing to agree, I”
“I agree, of course I agree.” Before Chen Yang could finish, Lin Yongren agreed without hesitation.
Chen Yang couldn’t help but remind him, “A-Ren, it’s ten percent, did you hear that clearly?”
Lin Yongren nodded, “I heard clearly, Young Master. You must have your reasons for this distribution.”
“I believe you absolutely won’t treat me unfairly.”
Chen Yang was stunned for a moment, then the next moment, he laughed, “A-Ren, congratulations on making a very correct choice.”
*****
Shanghai, Chuanbei Road, Kazakaze Cuisine.
This was a Japanese-owned restaurant, with the boss from Hokkaido, and his sashimi was quite good.
Of course, what attracted people more than the sashimi was the boss lady of this restaurant.
It was well known that Japanese people were always criticized by Chinese people for their height, and even the Russians called Japanese soldiers little radish heads.
But the boss lady of this restaurant was clearly not a purebred Japanese.
Her height was nearly 1.65 meters, with a plump figure and a full married woman vibe.
The first time Chen Yang saw her, he inexplicably thought of a dark web teacher he admired most in his previous life, Mano Suzume.
“Guest, how can I help you.” The boss lady’s voice was gentle and soft, um, not only did her appearance resemble her, but even her voice was very similar.
“I’m looking for Ino Yusuke, he made an appointment with me.”
“Oh, so you are Ino-kun’s guest. He has been waiting for you upstairs for a long time.”
The boss lady clearly knew Ino Yusuke, and their relationship was probably not ordinary. Upon hearing Chen Yang mention his name, the boss lady became much more polite.
“Guest, please follow me, watch the steps.”
With that, the boss lady took small steps, leading Chen Yang to the private room on the second floor of the restaurant.
At the end of the second floor, the boss lady pushed open the private room door, slightly bowed, and said, “Guest, please enter.”
“Mr. Chen, you are very punctual. It seems there is good news today.” A hearty voice came from the private room, “Come, come, sit.”
Ino Yusuke stood up, slightly bowed, then invited Chen Yang to sit.
Chen Yang slightly bowed in return, took off his shoes, and sat across from Ino Yusuke.
The boss lady knelt to the side, pouring sake for the two.
“Mr. Chen, please.”
Ino Yusuke picked up his cup, made an inviting gesture toward Chen Yang, then drank it down in one gulp.
Chen Yang also smoothly drank a cup of sake, and after setting down the wine cup, he said flatly, “Ino-kun, actually, you don’t need to be so happy yet. I think my answer might disappoint you.”
Ino Yusuke’s expression stiffened as he looked at Chen Yang, “So, Mr. Chen plans to reject our invitation.”
Chen Yang didn’t speak, just picked up his wine cup and took another sip. Ino Yusuke took a heavy breath and gave a look to the boss lady beside him.
The boss lady immediately stood up, slightly bowed to the two, said “please enjoy slowly,” and retreated out.
“Mr. Chen, it’s very safe here. Do you have some concerns? We can talk openly.”
Chen Yang smiled, “Ino-kun, before, you gave me two paths: either join or die.”
“Personally, I think I actually have a third path to take.”
“That is, you join my plan.”
Ino Yusuke was stunned, then laughed, “Mr. Chen, do you know what you’re saying? What qualification do you have to make us join your plan?”
“Moreover, do you know how much strength we really have? Young man, you are too arrogant.”
Chen Yang took a sip of sake and said, “I don’t need to know how much strength you have. I only know one thing.”
“Your thinking is too outdated.”
“In this day and age, you still use the ant-moving-home method to embezzle materials. In a full six months, over 180 days, you only sold just over 170 tons of materials.”
“By my calculations, the amount each of you gets is less than 20,000 silver dollars.”
“With just this little money, you boast shamelessly about making my net worth higher than my uncle’s within a year.”
Ino Yusuke’s face flushed red and white, “Mr. Chen, you don’t understand. Once the smuggling of materials business is discovered, it’s a death sentence. Steady is the most important.”
“Just over 170 tons is only a temporary number. Once all links are on track, this number will grow rapidly.”
“On track, how long will that take? Six months, a year, or two years.” Chen Yang sneered, “You people are timid and hesitant in your actions. At the slightest sign of trouble, you think of cleaning up any possible problematic clues to avoid bringing trouble upon yourselves.”
“Even if given more time, you can’t design a perfect sales route.”
“Since you’re doing it, you need to be bold. Materials need to move in and out quickly; speed is money.”
“You have no connections, I do. You lack boldness, I have it too. So this time, it shouldn’t be you making me join, but you cooperating with me.”
