Chapter 117: Ziyi, Take Good Care of Xiaoxiao
“Xiaoxiao.” Lu Ziyi stood at the door of the room. Seeing that Ye Chuxiao had finished her work, he walked in.
Lu Ziyi placed the ginger sugar water on the desk and said, “Xiaoxiao, drink a bowl of ginger sugar water to warm yourself up.”
“Thank you, Senior Student Ziyi.” Ye Chuxiao felt very sorry for causing trouble for everyone.
Zhao Congrui and Lin Houchun also arrived, asking if Ye Chuxiao was feeling better.
Zhao Congrui hid behind Lin Houchun and said weakly, “I’m sorry, Xiaoxiao, it’s my fault you fell into the stream.”
Zhao Congrui felt very guilty. He, a grown man, was carrying a bag of stones and acting all dramatic, asking Ziyi to carry it for him.
If Ziyi had stayed with Xiaoxiao, she wouldn’t have been in such danger.
What if Xiaoxiao had a more serious problem?
“It’s not Brother Congrui’s fault,” Ye Chuxiao said softly. “I didn’t scout the path properly and stepped on loose gravel.”
“I’m sorry, Ziyi…” Zhao Congrui said dejectedly, not daring to look at Lu Ziyi.
“I didn’t fulfill my responsibility!” Lu Ziyi’s voice was still cold.
Seeing her son’s resentful aura, Leng Yanfei felt uncomfortable and asked what had happened.
Lin Houchun explained.
Leng Yanfei advised, “Alright, Ziyi, it’s good that Xiaoxiao isn’t seriously hurt. Don’t blame Congrui anymore; he’s already apologized.”
Lu Ziyi knew he couldn’t really blame Zhao Congrui. Taking care of Xiaoxiao was his responsibility. Xiaoxiao falling into the stream was his responsibility, and he felt very resentful.
“I’ll go make some porridge for Xiaoxiao.” Lu Ziyi left the room with a dejected/gloomy expression.
Ye Chuxiao stayed in the room. She only ate a little more than half a bowl of the porridge Lu Ziyi had carefully made. She had no appetite, felt weak and listless, and lay down on the bed to sleep.
Lu Ziyi, worried, sat at the desk to read, keeping watch over Ye Chuxiao.
Around ten o’clock at night, Ye Chuxiao showed no signs of waking. Lu Ziyi went to check on her and found her cheeks were red, she was sweating profusely, and her hair was damp and stuck to her cheeks.
Xiaoxiao looked hot, but she was curled up in a ball.
“Xiaoxiao! Xiaoxiao!” Lu Ziyi bent down, felt Ye Chuxiao’s forehead, and called out nervously.
After a while, Ye Chuxiao groggily tried to open her eyelids, but they felt very heavy.
“Senior Student Ziyi…” Ye Chuxiao mumbled.
“Xiaoxiao! Xiaoxiao!” Lu Ziyi quickly asked, “Where do you feel unwell?”
“I’m dizzy, and I’m very cold…”
“Very cold?”
“Mm…”
How could this be? She had sweated so much, yet Xiaoxiao was cold?
“Xiaoxiao, wait for me for a moment!”
Lu Ziyi ran out and quickly returned, accompanied by Leng Yanfei and Uncle Lu.
Uncle Lu took Ye Chuxiao’s pulse, examined her condition, then wrote a prescription and instructed Leng Yanfei and Lu Ziyi on how to care for Xiaoxiao.
“It’s nothing,” Uncle Lu comforted Lu Ziyi, who looked very anxious. “Xiaoxiao caught a chill. She’ll be fine after taking the medicine and sweating it out.”
“Thank you, Uncle.” Lu Ziyi’s mood remained heavy.
“I’ll go get the medicine.” Uncle Lu went out, and Lu Ziyi followed him, as he would be boiling the medicine later.
Leng Yanfei found a set of underwear and pajamas from Ye Chuxiao’s luggage and helped her change out of her wet clothes.
Leng Yanfei was worried that Ye Chuxiao was sick and would suffer alone. She sat on the edge of the bed, poured her water, and chatted with her.
Until Lu Ziyi brought a bowl of medicine.
Leng Yanfei instructed, “Ziyi, when the medicine cools down, you take care of Xiaoxiao drinking it. I’ll go wash her clothes. She needs to sweat, so she’ll need to change clothes often. I’ll dry them as soon as possible.”
