Chapter 176: Given To Fu Mingyu
“Are you missing me, Jiaojiao? I’m here~”
A somewhat familiar voice rang out. Yun Jiao, who was sitting obediently on a low stool in the courtyard, staring blankly at the rabbit in front of her, yawned as her mom combed her hair.
Only then did she look outside, a little sluggishly.
A familiar voice, a familiar person.
Yun Jiao tilted her head, her mind still a bit groggy, and reacted.
Ah… it’s Cousin Uncle Wang Hongfei.
“Hongfei, why are you here?”
Wang Mei also heard the voice and came out to see who it was. It turned out to be her younger brother.
Wang Hongfei chuckled, “Sis, good morning. I’m going on a trip and came to see you.”
He then winked in Yun Jiao’s direction.
Yun Jiao greeted him with a voice that still had a soft, clingy tone.
It was early morning, and three-year-old Yun Jiao wasn’t quite awake yet, appearing a bit dazed and slow.
Wang Hongfei thought: So cute!
“Come here, Jiaojiao, this is a gift I brought for you.”
Wang Hongfei, with a mischievous grin, held something out to Yun Jiao.
Yun Jiao looked down and saw a doll.
Its hair was golden.
She slowly took it, saying, “Thank you, Cousin Uncle.”
Wang Hongfei replied, “You’re welcome. I heard many girls like to play with these, you can change its clothes and tie its hair.”
It came with two different skirts.
This doll’s hands and legs could move.
They were just a bit stiff.
Yun Jiao took the plastic doll and began to study it with great interest.
She was still very curious about unfamiliar things.
She was a bit interested herself for the moment, but her attention span was short. However, Yun Jiao was sure that Yun Xiao Hua and the other young girls would definitely like it.
Wang Hongfei was very accommodating; not only did he buy a gift for Yun Jiao, but he also brought a bag of candy, a large roll of dried noodles, and two bottles of soda.
Of course, the soda was for the Yun family children to drink.
“You’re here already, why bring so many gifts?”
Based on Yun Jiao’s observations, this was what most families said when relatives and friends visited with gifts.
Wang Hongfei was very talkative. In a short while, he had the elders of the family smiling broadly.
Of course, his main purpose for visiting today was to find Yun Chen Bei.
Unfortunately, Yun Chen Bei wasn’t home at this hour; he had gone to his master’s house.
So, Yun Jiao was responsible for taking him to find her Fourth Brother.
Holding a small white puppy, with another following at her feet, and a cat trailing behind them unhurriedly.
Yun Jiao skillfully led Wang Hongfei to Old Mu’s house.
The early morning was still misty. The Big Black dog lying by the door twitched its ears and cautiously raised its head upon hearing the sound.
Seeing that it was Yun Jiao, it wagged its tail a little as a welcome, then slowly lay back down.
The little black dog, however, ran towards the Big Black dog, barking.
The little white dog she was holding also wagged its tail enthusiastically, its tail causing its little butt to wiggle so energetically that its four short legs flapped happily.
Yun Jiao simply put it down too, and the little white dog also ran towards the Big Black dog.
In the blink of an eye, Big Black was being pestered by two puppies.
Yun Jiao even saw helplessness on Big Black’s face.
“Big Black, take good care of your puppies.”
Yun Jiao patted Big Black’s head, her childish voice earnestly instructing it.
Wang Hongfei watched with amusement, “Are these two puppies his? I thought this dog was a male dog, it looked so fierce.”
Big Black’s ears twitched, and it bared its teeth at Wang Hongfei.
Wang Hongfei exclaimed and stepped back, “What, is it going to bite me?”
Yun Jiao spoke for Big Black, “Big Black is a male dog, he’s their dad.”
Wang Hongfei rubbed his nose, chuckling, “I see, such a majestic dog must be a magnificent male dog.”
Big Black stared at Wang Hongfei for a moment before shifting its gaze. It impatiently pushed away the puppies that were biting its ears.
Too annoying, it didn’t want to admit they were its offspring.
Yun Jiao led Wang Hongfei into the Mu family’s house.
“Fourth Brother.”
With her short legs crossing the threshold of the Mu family home, Yun Jiao went straight to the person sitting in the courtyard.
Yun Chen Bei put down the carving knife in his hand and smiled when he saw Yun Jiao’s face.
Looking at the person behind her, his eyes held a hint of confusion, his lips pursed, and his brow slightly furrowed.
He didn’t speak, unable to distinguish clearly.
Yun Jiao saw his expression and knew her Fourth Brother didn’t recognize people.
“Fourth Brother, it’s Cousin Uncle.”
She hugged the youth’s neck and whispered softly.
Yun Chen Bei reacted, and just then, Wang Hongfei also spoke.
“Wow… you really didn’t recognize me if I didn’t speak.”
He also knew about Yun Chen Bei’s face blindness, but he had never noticed it before.
He only knew that this nephew didn’t talk much and usually helped with work or spaced out when he visited their home.
“Uncle.”
Yun Chen Bei slowly called out.
“Hehe, Xiao Bei, are the things ready?”
Yun Chen Bei nodded slightly, “Not much.”
He stood up and took a wooden box from his room.
The items were all made during his rest time.
A little cat, a little dog, a little rabbit, and a chubby little bird.
They were all movable.
Although made of wood, they were incredibly lifelike.
Due to the short time, only a few were made.
Each one was only palm-sized and painted. From a distance, they looked almost real.
But up close, it was impossible to miss the wood grain.
What Yun Chen Bei made now couldn’t reach the realism of Old Man Mu.
But even so, Wang Hongfei was very satisfied.
“Good, good, just a bit few.”
Yun Chen Bei said, “There are also decorations made from snail shells and seashells at home.”
Those were simpler, and he could make some in the evenings after returning home.
“No rush, I’m not leaving until tomorrow. I’ll see them when I get back.”
He pulled Yun Chen Bei along and continued to chatter about his grand plans.
Yun Chen Bei remained taciturn, occasionally responding.
Yun Jiao was squatting on the side, looking at the carvings her Fourth Brother had just made, her eyes full of surprise.
“Fourth Brother, you finished them!”
So cute.
A wooden carving of a chubby baby riding an orca.
Although the wood carving couldn’t achieve the lifelike delicacy and beauty of a real person, it still bore about fifty to sixty percent resemblance to Yun Jiao.
Moreover, Yun Chen Bei had developed it in a cute direction, making the carved baby look even chubbier than Yun Jiao.
Good-looking, I like it.
Yun Jiao felt that the one her Fourth Brother carved was even better-looking than the doll her Cousin Uncle had given her.
The only pity was that its clothes couldn’t be changed, and its hair was also carved from wood.
Wang Hongfei also looked over, and his eyes lit up.
He rubbed his hands together, “This…”
Before he could finish, Yun Chen Bei, expressionless, refused, “It’s Jiaojiao’s, I’m not giving it away.”
Yun Jiao nodded, “It’s mine.”
She thought for a moment and added reluctantly, “It’s for Fu Mingyu.”
That had been agreed upon before.
But it was so cute, she was a little reluctant to part with it.
Then she thought about how Fu Mingyu had sent their family so many things, food and daily necessities.
Then… she would give it to him.
She would ask her Fourth Brother to carve an even better one for her later.
Wang Hongfei clutched his chest, unable to tear his eyes away from the wooden carving, “Who is Fu Mingyu?”
