Chapter 29: Symbiosis
Humans and Pokémon are all part of this world.
As a transmigrator, Lei Wen knew very well that humans and Pokémon could achieve coexistence.
How can I reconcile with the Poffins?
Lei Wen couldn’t help but fall into thought.
Several knights nearby held weapons, cautiously watching the monsters.
For a time, both sides were in a stalemate.
The Poffins’ small faces were full of anger, and they showed no intention of backing down.
These humans had cut down the trees they lived in and destroyed their homes, and they were determined to drive these bad guys out of the forest!
“Lili!”
The Poffins began to throw small stones and twigs they held towards the crowd, attempting to drive these people away in this manner.
“Your Highness, please be careful!” A knight shielded Lei Wen.
Seeing their companions attacked, the three Snowrunt could no longer hold back.
“Mugu!”
They each took a step forward and unleashed their signature moves, attacking the Poffins in the trees.
Ice Beam!
Razor Leaf!
Icy Wind!
Beams like white frost mixed with sharp leaves, swept by the Icy Wind, blasted towards the branches where the Poffins were.
Before the Poffin could even dodge, it was hit by these three moves. Without making a sound, it fell from the large tree.
The remaining four Poffins, upon seeing this, were instantly filled with rage.
“Lili!”
They each used moves like Speed Star and Double Slap to retaliate.
“Stop it quickly!” Lei Wen tried to stop them.
But the Poffins were too enraged to hear anything.
They jumped down from the trees and charged at the Snowrunt and the surrounding humans from all directions.
“Dratini, Thunder Wave!”
Dratini flew forward, and a yellow electric light surged from its body, accurately hitting a Poffin that was attempting to use Double Slap on a woman.
The Poffin’s move was interrupted, and it immediately fell into a paralyzed state.
Seeing this, Lei Wen could only command in a low voice, “Elif, get everyone out of here first!”
“Yes!” Elif nodded and said, “Your Highness, please be careful!”
Soon, the entire Logging Camp was left with only Lei Wen, a few knights, and the Snowrunt and Poffins fighting each other.
Looking at the chaotic scene before him, Lei Wen felt a terrible headache.
It seemed he could only communicate properly after the battle ended!
Lei Wen immediately stopped hesitating.
Battles between Pokémon should be met with Pokémon!
He refused the intervention of a few knights and then said to Dratini:
“Twister!”
“Woo—!”
Dratini mobilized the Dragon energy within its body, and purple energy transformed into a tornado storm, spewing from its mouth, blowing away a Poffin that was lunging at a Snowrunt.
Seeing its companion attacked, another Poffin immediately and angrily charged at Dratini from the side.
It raised its small hands high—Tackle!
The Poffin was very fast, and although Lei Wen immediately gave the command to Evade, Dratini’s lack of battle experience caused it to react a beat too late.
The Poffin landed a blow on Dratini.
Seeing this, Lei Wen quickly changed his strategy.
“Wrap!”
Just as the Poffin landed on the ground, Dratini’s slender body tightly bound it.
“Lili!”
The Poffin tried to struggle, but Dratini’s grip grew tighter. With its strength, it couldn’t break free at all.
“Thunder Wave,” Lei Wen ordered the follow-up.
With a flash of yellow electric light, this Poffin quickly lost its ability to fight due to paralysis.
When Lei Wen looked up again, the battle on the field had ended.
All five Poffins had fallen to the ground, unable to battle.
And the Snowrunt had all sustained injuries of varying degrees.
They looked at the three Pokémon before them with some anger.
“Stop it! Snowrunt!” Lei Wen said with a headache.
“Mugu?” The Snowrunt looked back.
Lei Wen, however, slowly walked forward with Dratini. He squatted in front of the five Poffins, pondering how to speak.
At this moment, the five Poffins had various expressions.
Some were crying sadly, some had eyes full of tears, and others were biting their lips with a look of defiance…
It’s over, they’re finished!
Because they lost, they couldn’t protect their home. These bad guys would take over the home they relied on for survival and drive them away…
“Lili!” Bad guys!
A Poffin cried as it shouted loudly.
They had even imagined their tragic future: being driven out of their homes, carrying a small wooden stick with a small bundle tied to one end, walking in the vast snow, homeless.
Lei Wen: “…”
“Please stop!” he said.
The five Poffins in front of him immediately stopped crying and looked at him in unison.
Looking at the eyes of these five Pokémon, who wanted to cry but dared not, Lei Wen felt like a villain forcing good people into evil.
He sighed helplessly, then said sincerely, “I am very sorry, Poffins.”
The five Poffins in front of him were immediately stunned.
Not only them, but even the Snivy hiding in the shadows was slightly taken aback.
What did they hear?
This big bad guy was apologizing to them?!
“Lili?” a Poffin tentatively voiced.
“I admit, we destroyed your home, but if we didn’t do this, not only I, but the people behind me, would die in this Blizzard,” Lei Wen said slowly.
Perhaps his tone was too heavy, as the five Poffins subconsciously turned their gaze towards the humans watching them from not far away.
Death… In the Poffins’ understanding, this was a terrifying thing.
If they died, they would never wake up, never eat delicious pinecones and berries again, and couldn’t play with their companions.
“We need this wood because it can help us build sturdy houses, and these houses can shelter us from the wind and rain, allowing us to safely get through this cold winter.”
“I know cutting down these trees destroyed your home, and I am sorry, but we have no choice but to continue to survive.”
Saying this, Lei Wen’s gaze swept across the faces of the Poffins before him.
He had no intention of forcibly driving them away, nor did he intend to stop logging.
Therefore, Lei Wen could only adopt a compromise.
“To express our apology, we will do our best to make amends.”
“I promise you, in the name of the Lord of this Territory, that when this winter ends, the ice and snow melt, and spring arrives, I and everyone else will work hard to help you rebuild a forest, a forest full of berry trees. Then, that will be your new home, and you will have endless berries to eat.”
“Until then, if you are willing to trust us, you can consider our Territory a temporary【 home】 and spend this cold winter with us.”
