Chapter 132: Meeting
Thinking of this, Mother Yin found herself quite amusing. She had given up her own daughter for him. This was likely why she didn’t want Yin Lingchen to tell Yin Lingyan the truth.
However, she hadn’t anticipated the extent of the harm her decision would inflict upon Yin Lingyan.
“Stop talking. The child will be here soon, so let’s treat them seriously. We two should have been strangers long ago,” Mother Yin interrupted the overly emotional conversation appropriately.
She didn’t want him or her to know this secret hidden in her heart; she would bear these sins herself.
When Han Wuyu and Yin Lingyan arrived, it was precisely the agreed-upon time. The two were taken aback by the sight of the two sitting upright. They glanced at the time to confirm they weren’t late before sitting down.
Looking at the two people before her, Yin Lingyan felt a mix of emotions, an indescribable feeling. She had lived such a difficult life for so many years.
Father Yin was excited when he saw Yin Lingyan. After all, she was his own flesh and blood. Although he lacked humanity, he wasn’t entirely heartless. Even though he had abandoned her, the blood relation was a fact.
“Lingyan, have you been well?” Father Yin greeted her first, showing no sign of impatience from waiting.
Yin Lingyan gave a sarcastic smile. This smile was so similar to Mother Yin’s earlier smile that both Mother Yin and Father Yin were momentarily dazed.
“Thanks to you, I’m doing very well. Look, this is my fiancé,” Yin Lingyan’s expression was a smile, but her heart felt like it was being pricked by needles. It was indeed thanks to him and her.
Originally, Han Wuyu was supposed to be engaged to Yin Chuchu. She hadn’t expected things to change so drastically and dramatically, ultimately leading to her.
Father Yin’s expression stiffened upon seeing Yin Lingyan’s indifferent demeanor. Han Wuyu’s passive attitude made Father Yin even more awkward.
At this moment, Han Wuyu took a sip of juice before slowly saying, “Why do you have to pretend to be a loving father so hypocritically?”
This short sentence struck a chord with Father Yin’s inner thoughts. He did regret it now. The Han family’s influence was immense, and he wanted to salvage some image in Yin Lingyan’s heart. Now, it seemed impossible.
“I’m here today solely because of our blood relation to inform you of my engagement to him. There’s nothing else,” the saying goes that the cruelest thing is a person’s heart. Even though Yin Lingyan pretended not to care, Han Wuyu could see the hurt and stubbornness in her eyes, which pained him.
“Achoo~” Yin Lingyan’s cold hadn’t cleared up yet, and after saying this, she sneezed.
Mother Yin immediately became nervous. She glanced at Yin Lingyan, and upon closer inspection, she realized her face was indeed a little pale.
Han Wuyu looked at Yin Lingyan with heartache. She had felt unwell on the way, but she had insisted on coming.
Yin Lingyan had shed all her courage only after seeing them. She felt she had been indecisive. If she had been more decisive, she would have just said a word and left. But she seemed to cherish this time together.
Han Wuyu really wanted to say, “Don’t push yourself, I’m here for you!” But Yin Lingyan’s look forced him to retract it. “Since we’re here, and it’s rare to be together, let’s have lunch.”
She had never experienced the warmth of a family meal. She had been selfish today, truly, truly wanting to feel it.
This decision suited them perfectly. They nodded, and the four of them went to eat. Along the way, Mother Yin’s gaze kept drifting to Yin Lingyan’s pale face, wanting to say something but remaining silent.
