Chapter 3: Get Out Of The City Or It’s Too Late
In the room, Su Yaoyang was squatting by the wall corner. A deep blue ghostly light from the necklace around his neck shone on a blue brick on the ground. After the beam disappeared, the blue brick on the ground also vanished, replaced by a Browning M1911A1 pistol and two boxes of .45 pistol bullets.
Looking at the cobalt blue brand-new pistol and shiny bullets lying quietly on the ground, Su Yaoyang’s face went from red to green, then from green to white.
“Fuck…%¥…that big-headed doll was telling the truth! Let me try to convert it into silver dollars!”
………..
The winter sunlight lazily shone over Nanjing, but it brought no warmth to anyone.
For the Nanjing residents in the midst of war, panic, fear, and unpredictable dangers weighed heavily on their hearts.
When Little Dew opened her eyes, a tantalizing aroma entered her nose.
When she followed the scent and looked over, she saw Su Yaoyang, already dressed, sitting at the table eating breakfast.
“Meat buns!”
Little Dew’s eyes lit up immediately. Ever since her and the young master’s traveling money was stolen, she hadn’t seen any meat; every day it was just coarse grain porridge and vegetable soup so clear it could reflect a person’s shadow.
She sat up abruptly, but the quilt slipped off her shoulders, exposing her snow-white tender skin.
Only when the cold wind blew over her body did she realize something was wrong and quickly lay back down.
Seeing this, Su Yaoyang helplessly put down the bun in his hand, picked up the clothes and handed them to her, then sat on the edge of the bed.
Then he flicked her perky nose, “Silly girl… still so jumpy. Hurry up and get dressed, wash up, and eat breakfast.”
“Oh…”
The little girl’s pretty face turned a bit red as she buried herself in the young master’s arms, rubbing and rubbing like a coquettish kitten.
In the past, she wouldn’t dare make such an intimate move; it was only after last night when she had the most intimate relationship with Su Yaoyang that she subconsciously did this.
Su Yaoyang stroked the little girl’s soft tender body, but unusually had no other thoughts, as his mind was still a bit dizzy.
No matter is created out of thin air; converting matter also requires energy, and the energy needed for the matter converter to work is mental power. According to that big-headed doll, once mental power reaches a certain level, the consumption for converting matter becomes negligible, even converting an entire planet into another kind of matter is no big deal.
But Su Yaoyang knew from the big-headed doll’s smug and slightly mocking gaze while saying this that the guy was just showing off; believing it would make him the fool.
He’d just converted a blue brick into a pistol and a few dozen silver dollars when he felt his head getting dizzy, scaring him into stopping the conversion and quickly going out to buy two portions of breakfast.
With great willpower, he suppressed the little flame in his heart, patted her perky buttocks through the quilt, and teasingly scolded, “Alright… get dressed and wash up first. I need to go out later to see if there’s a way out of the city.”
“Mm…”
Little Dew obediently nodded, took the clothes and put them on. But after putting on her shoes and getting off the kang, she only took two steps before her delicate eyebrows furrowed, she let out a muffled hum, and nearly fell to the ground.
Su Yaoyang quickly caught her and asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Little Dew’s pretty face flushed red, she shyly lowered her head and whispered, “Young master, I’m fine… it’s just… last night… last night… my body still hurts a bit.”
“Oh…”
Su Yaoyang immediately understood, his old face reddened, and he showed an apologetic expression, “Little Dew… I’m really sorry, this is my fault, I was too rough.”
“No… it’s not the young master’s fault, I was willing.” Little Dew smiled sweetly, “I’m really happy to be the young master’s woman.”
The morning sunlight shone on Little Dew’s pretty face, which still had a hint of faint downy fuzz, giving it an indescribable beauty. Her expression at this moment was so sincere and resolute, as if giving her body to him was something very sacred.
Su Yaoyang’s heart suddenly trembled. At this moment, he suddenly realized that for this girl in his arms, he was her sky, her earth, her everything; any devotion to him was only natural.
This feeling… how to put it, it was somewhat unfamiliar and made him quite moved.
In the spacetime where Su Yaoyang grew up, emotions were always very extravagant things.
With the economic downturn and a surge in unemployment, the entire society and the internet were filled with resentment and gender antagonism.
Parents were teaching their kids that if they saw an elderly person fallen, they must run away immediately and never get involved; trust between people had dropped to freezing point.
Things like handing over one’s emotions or even life to another without reservation were rarely seen anymore, which made Su Yaoyang a bit unaccustomed for a moment.
Though he wasn’t sure yet if this was love, he was very clear that the girl’s feelings for him were sincere and passionate, without any impurities.
However, this discomfort only lasted a brief few seconds.
He held the girl in his arms a bit tighter, lowered his head and gently kissed the tip of her nose, softly saying, “I know, you’ll be the young master’s person for life. Don’t even think about leaving me.”
“Mm!” The girl nodded forcefully, her eyes full of determination and tenderness.
“Young master, rest assured, Grandpa and my lives were given by the master and madam. Before Grandpa left, he told me, in this life, alive I’m the young master’s person, dead I’m the young master’s ghost!”
Looking at this girl who looked just like Xiao Lu from that game he often played before transmigrating, almost identical, Su Yaoyang suddenly felt that being thrown into this spacetime wasn’t so bad; at least there was this girl who saw him as everything, staying by his side unwaveringly.
“Alright… you go wash up first, then eat breakfast. I’m heading out.” Su Yaoyang stood up.
“Young master, where are you going?” Little Dew tensed up immediately upon hearing this and grabbed his arm.
“Young master… these past couple days I’ve heard Shopkeeper Song say that it’s chaos outside, soldiers everywhere.
Besides, we have no money now; even if we find a way, we can’t buy boat tickets.”
Little Dew’s worries were not unfounded. It was now December 13th, and just yesterday the entire Nanjing outer defenses had been torn apart by the Japanese army.
In this situation, the only way to escape Nanjing was to cross the river north, but of the three ferry crossings, only Xiaowan and Mufu Mountain were still held by the National Army, and they could fall at any moment.
Now outside there were defeated troops everywhere from the front lines, plus shells dropping from the sky from time to time.
Going out now would be simply gambling with one’s life.
But Su Yaoyang knew even better that in a few more days, after Nanjing fell, this place would become hell on earth; staying here would be certain death.
He forcibly suppressed his reluctance, held her little hand and said, “Little Dew… if we stay here any longer, that’s just waiting to die.
If the little devils really enter Nanjing, we’ll all die without a burial place.”
“How is that possible?” Little Dew widened her eyes, “Sister Mei told me yesterday that fighting is everywhere now, so don’t go out casually, and it’s fine to delay the rent a few days. Once the National Army holds Nanjing or the little devils occupy it, everything will soon return to normal.”
“Return to normal?”
Su Yaoyang was stunned at first, then helplessly sighed, “Don’t mind Shopkeeper Song, what does a woman know? If we don’t leave soon, in a few days this place will…”
“Will what?”
“Bang dang…”
With a crisp sound, the door was unceremoniously pushed open, and a woman in a light blue qipao walked in.
The moment she entered, she said without politeness, “Young Master Su, you know astronomy above and geography below, but please first settle the rent for these days. Also, if you really look down on my little rundown shop, you can leave, just don’t implicate this good girl Little Dew.”
