Chapter 35: Boundless Demonic Eyes, Space Skipping Stone
“Shape-Shifting is the primary ability of the Boundless Demonic Eyes, which can briefly open a space passage to transport oneself, others, or objects through space to achieve distance traversal!”
Hearing the prompt sound from his mind, Su Mo’s face showed a wonderful and joyful smile.
In short, Shape-Shifting is like skipping stones on water.
You can think of the space where a person is as water, Imaginary Space as air, and Shape-Shifting as using some kind of power to skip stones on the water surface.
People in the water cannot see the stone skipping; they can only see the ripples stirred up by the stone on the water surface!
Moreover, this is just the primary ability of the form realm illusion; it cannot keep people in Imaginary Space for a long time, only extremely briefly for traversal, and then they must return to the space in the water.
Just like how a stone can only sink into the water after skipping.
As Buddhism says, human eyes can be divided into seven realms.
The first realm is the mortal eye, that is, the eyes of ordinary people with normal vision.
The second realm is the original eye, with eyes as sharp as those of wild beasts, unpolluted by the secular world, able to see things that ordinary people cannot see.
The higher realm is the Heavenly Eyes, which can see the past and future of beings in the two realms, like the eyes of bodhisattvas and arhats.
Above the Heavenly Eyes is the holy eye, which can clearly see events millions of kalpas before and after, with boundless vision, always clearly seeing the eternal from beginning to end…
And there is one kind of eye, which is the Demonic Eyes!
This kind of eye can see beyond space, even open Imaginary Space, and summon things from the Underworld.
That is, the Boundless Demonic Eyes!
It is said that the demon insects Da Pu driven by the Ghost Cave Demon Kingdom, that is, the Fire Beetles that Hu Ba Yi saw in the Kunlun Mountains back then, which could ignite immeasurable karmic fire and turn people into ashes, were summoned through the Boundless Demonic Eyes.
And the truly most powerful power of the Boundless Demonic Eyes is form realm illusion.
Creating a space through Demonic Eyes that originally does not belong to the real world, just like the scene in the Evil Luo Sea City!
The enlightenment Su Mo has now gained is like the Daoist Shape-Shifting; although it may only be a short instant, it can instantly move people or objects.
Feeling the power of Shape-Shifting, while Su Mo was surprised in his heart, he felt even more awe and anticipation for the power of the Boundless Demonic Eyes.
He still had a Ghost Seal in his hand.
If the Boundless Demonic Eyes continue to gain enlightenment, could it really summon Ghost Soldiers?
At this time, Xue Li Yang and the others had already studied all the murals in the tomb chamber. Hu Ba Yi and Wang Pang Zi saw that there were no good things in the tomb chamber, only the joint burial coffin of Prince Gumo and his wife, so they asked Professor Chen whether to open it and take a look.
Professor Chen thought about it and shook his head:
“We’re here for scientific expedition, with limited power at hand. If we rashly open the coffin and cause damage to the cultural relics inside, it would be bad. Let’s leave this coffin for now and talk about it later when conditions allow!”
Hearing his words, Hu Ba Yi had no choice but to give up.
Su Mo didn’t care either way; after all, he didn’t come to the Jing Jue Ancient Kingdom for grave goods.
Only Wang Pang Zi was very regretful, looking at the coffin reluctantly, still thinking in his heart whether there were any grave goods inside.
The crowd then left the tomb chamber. Before leaving, Professor Chen had Sa Di Peng and the others bring down a few freshly peeled animal hides from above and sealed the stone door as before.
After resting in Xi Ye City for another day, the archaeological team continued southward and soon entered the Black Sand Sea.
There were no plants visible here anymore, not even the toughest Hu Yang trees in the desert; the sand sea was boundless, with no sign of life at all.
During a break, Hu Ba Yi asked An Li Man if he had ever entered here.
An Li Man shook his head:
“This place is the Yellow Sand Hell. Even Hu Da himself doesn’t want to come here!”
“I’ve only come here once, just a little bit!”
Hearing that he had actually been here, Hu Ba Yi couldn’t help but ask:
“Then what were you doing coming here?”
An Li Man had a sly old fox’s chuckling expression:
“Isn’t this our trip this time? If we hadn’t encountered Hu Da’s most beloved white camel and Comrade Su, the angel sent by Hu Da, I wouldn’t come even if I died a hundred times!”
Hu Ba Yi was so annoyed by An Li Man that he turned his head and ignored him.
However, An Li Man was indeed an expert in the desert; his two eyes were like those of a sand fox, able to spot traces of haloxylon ammodendron and sand sagebrush in a desolate area with no signs of life, and follow the plant roots to find water veins.
Although the water in the desert contains a lot of salt and alkali, after filtering and settling, it can be drunk, which solved the archaeological team’s problem.
At night when camping, An Li Man found a suitable place to stay beside a sand dune. The crowd built a sand-proof wall beside the camp, then used alcohol to light a fire for warmth and prepare to rest.
After walking for a day, even Wang Pang Zi, who liked talking the most, was unwilling to speak anymore; everyone sat on the sand with exhausted faces.
Sa Di Peng and the others had long lost the excitement they had when they first arrived at the Gobi; at this moment, they all had sallow faces and extremely tired expressions.
Ye Yi Xin couldn’t help but complain:
“The heat is one thing, but this wind makes me feel like jerky that’s always being dried; I don’t even want to talk!”
An Li Man chuckled:
“Little girl, this is just the very edge of the Black Desert! Walk another five days and you’ll reach the depths!”
“I know some friends who went inside; the deepest part of the Black Desert is truly terrifying!”
“They say there’s a dreamlike land in the depths; once you enter, you can see lakes, rivers, and beautiful women, even some mythical beasts from legends, but even if they die of thirst or exhaustion, they can’t even touch the edge of those things!”
“Those are traps set by the devil to lure people to their deaths! But with Hu Da’s blessing, we definitely won’t encounter them…”
What An Li Man said was very fascinating; Sa Di Peng, Ye Yi Xin, and the others listened intently.
Xue Li Yang pursed her lips and smiled:
“What An Li Man described might be mirages in the desert, or hallucinations after dehydration!”
After speaking, she pulled Ye Yi Xin:
“Little Ye, let’s go over there and check!”
Su Mo knew they were probably going to the other side of the sand dune to relieve themselves, so he said:
“Take flashlights and whistles; blow the whistle if anything happens!”
Xue Li Yang agreed and went hand in hand with Ye Yi Xin to the other side of the sand dune.
Wang Pang Zi then asked Hu Ba Yi if there was any more alcohol.
Hu Ba Yi couldn’t help but retort:
“Even a barrel of alcohol wouldn’t be enough for you; it’ll be hard to even get water later, so just endure it!”
Wang Pang Zi shook his head and muttered something upon hearing this, then turned to lay out his sleeping bag and lie down, but suddenly heard a series of urgent sharp whistle sounds from one side of the sand dune.
Everyone couldn’t help but jump up and run toward the direction of the whistle.
They saw Ye Yi Xin trapped in the sand on one side of the sand dune!
Quicksand often appears in the desert; once a person falls in, the more they struggle, the faster they sink, and in less than a few seconds, they will be swallowed by the quicksand.
Ye Yi Xin had already sunk in up to more than half her body by now, with only the position above her chest still outside the quicksand, her face full of terror.
Xue Li Yang had no tools with her and could only lie on the edge of the quicksand, dragging Ye Yi Xin with all her strength while blowing the whistle for help.
