Chapter 11: Feels Just Like Getting Caught Cheating
[Ding, Plot Point +5, total progress 15%.]
The sudden broadcast startled Jiang Ning, what was going on? She hadn’t done the mission.
Raising her eyes again, she saw Wanyuan with red eye sockets, eyes full of heartbreak looking at her… oh no, looking at Xie Jingyan.
Jiang Ning: “…” It felt like getting caught cheating.
She hurriedly shook off this sneaky feeling and quickly asked: “Little Honey, what’s going on? I didn’t do anything, but the Plot Point increased on its own.”
Little Honey pondered, then gave an answer: [It should be that the Female Lead saw you being so intimate with the Male Lead, which hurt her, and that counts as following the plot.]
Jiang Ning: “…”
Why be a Vicious Female Supporting Character? Better to be a go-between, stuck between them.
She narrowed her eyes slightly, suddenly thinking of a plan. She could treat this abuse point as a bug to farm, wouldn’t that quickly reach one hundred?
Jiang Ning felt she was simply a genius.
So she leaned close to Xie Jingyan’s ear and whispered instructions: “Walk past them. You’d better not resist me. Think about your family. I have ten thousand ways to make your loved ones leave the hospital…”
Xie Jingyan carried her toward Gu Lanli’s direction, his expression indifferent: “Besides threatening me with my family, can you use something else?”
Jiang Ning honestly shook her head: “No, because this is the simplest and most effective.”
Xie Jingyan was practically laughed to anger.
He must have been unlucky for eight lifetimes, transferring to this school and meeting a crazy woman like Jiang Ning.
“So vicious.” He mocked lightly.
Jiang Ning took a light breath. Was she being complimented? Affirmation of her image?
Big success!
She pursed her lips in a slight smile, coughed lightly somewhat embarrassed: “Thanks for the compliment.”
Xie Jingyan: “…”
He passed Gu Lanli expressionlessly, treating himself as just a part of the play between Jiang Ning and Gu Lanli.
Hah, wasn’t it just using him to stimulate her beloved Gu Lanli?
Not afraid of playing with fire and really falling into a ditch.
“A Yan…” Wanyuan spoke up, calling out to Xie Jingyan.
But Xie Jingyan ignored her completely, treating her like a stranger.
Seeing Wanyuan’s expression about to shatter, Jiang Ning’s heart twisted along with it.
Damn, so abusive!
This melodramatic novel was over a million words, with abuse taking up two-thirds, and the remaining one-third probably out of pity for the readers, specially adding some sweet moments.
Starting from the school days, entangled for eight years before finally getting together. There were all sorts of troublemaking Vicious Supporting Characters in between, making the two protagonists misunderstand each other repeatedly. Both of them were the type who wouldn’t speak up, and Jiang Ning, as the villain boss causing the protagonists’ early hardships, served to make their originally parallel lines intersect again.
Suddenly, Jiang Ning felt a very cold gaze from behind staring tightly at her, like a venomous snake clinging to the bone, making her involuntarily hug Xie Jingyan tighter.
He was forced to stop, his voice cold: “Young Lady Jiang, don’t you find me dirty now?”
Jiang Ning then realized her fair arm was tightly wrapped around Xie Jingyan’s neck, even feeling his warm skin and prominent Adam’s apple. She awkwardly loosened her hand: “Sorry.”
The original body did despise Xie Jingyan for being poor, thinking he came from the slum, cursing him as dirty whenever she caught him. Not to mention letting Xie Jingyan carry her—even touching him once would make Jiang Ning immediately disinfect.
Mockery flashed in his eyes, his dark eyes growing even deeper.
Jiang Ning took a deep breath and began to assist: “Wanyuan called you, why didn’t you even respond to her?”
“You mean for me to call Wanyuan away, then let Gu Lanli take you back to the classroom, right?” With that, he started to let go.
Jiang Ning panicked, clinging to him harder like an octopus. Would Gu Lanli care if she lived or died?
He might just leave her here to fend for herself, that scumbag.
“No! He won’t care about me.” Afraid Xie Jingyan would really put her down, Jiang Ning hurriedly added: “Besides, I’m not in the same class as him. Hurry and go.”
The two left just like that.
Jiang Ning heard heavenly music: [Ding, Plot Point +5, total progress 20%.]
The atmosphere was quiet.
Wanyuan pushed Gu Lanli away, staring at him stubbornly: “Are you satisfied now? You had to make A Yan misunderstand me, had to associate me with you, make everyone misunderstand you to be happy? Gu Lanli, you disgust me.”
Gu Lanli’s gaze had just withdrawn from Jiang Ning’s back view.
He ignored the slight discomfort in his heart from seeing Jiang Ning with Xie Jingyan.
He sneered, pointing to his forehead: “Wanyuan, do you have a conscience? The wound on my head was from blocking for you.”
Wanyuan distanced herself from Gu Lanli: “I didn’t ask you to save me. You did it on your own.”
Her words completely enraged Gu Lanli.
He stared tightly at Wanyuan’s stubborn little face, laughing in anger: “Actually, I saw just now that you deliberately fell to the ground. Jiang Ning didn’t touch you at all, right?”
Wanyuan’s body stiffened, shame from being exposed washing over her.
She remained stubborn: “So what? Has she humiliated me less in the past? I was just getting revenge. What’s wrong with that?”
“Right, you’re not wrong. Do you know why I’m on your side? Because I like you. Don’t take advantage of my liking you and not take me seriously.”
Wanyuan’s facial expression grew colder, looking at Gu Lanli like an enemy: “The thing I regret most in this life is accepting financial aid from the Gu Family and meeting you. I don’t care for your liking either. You can go find Jiang Ning.”
At this point, she mocked with a smile: “Only Jiang Ning that lapdog cares about you. In front of her, you’re her one and only. But to me, you’re nothing.”
Wanyuan shook off Gu Lanli’s hand and left without looking back.
“Fuck!” Gu Lanli lost control and punched the wall.
His knuckles instantly broke skin, blood faintly seeping out.
“Lan Li? Why are you angry at the wall for no reason?” A youthful voice came from not far away.
Gu Lanli looked up, his gaze gloomy, toward the newcomer—his good brother Xin Yang.
Xin Yang had a flat top, hard-lined features, very handsome. At this moment, his eyes were wide, making him seem a bit silly.
He raised his hand to scratch his hair, asking uncertainly: “Lan Li, when I arrived just now, I saw Jiang Ning with Xie Jingyan. Didn’t that ancestor have beef with the Xie guy? How did they end up together?”
After a long while, Gu Lanli sneered: “She knows to change tactics, starting to play hard to get. Does she think hooking up with Xie Jingyan will make me angry? I don’t care about her at all. She can go with any man, it has nothing to do with me. Best if someone really takes her in.”
Xin Yang looked at him somewhat speechlessly, his gaze shifting to the wound on his forehead: “Lan Li, that’s not fair of you. We’ve grown up together after all. Jiang Ning toward you—she’d give you her true heart. I told you not to protect Wanyuan so obviously. That ancestor goes crazy and no one can stop her. In the end, Wanyuan gets hurt again. It’s a vicious cycle.”
Gu Lanli remained unmoved, his tone indifferent: “Then make Jiang Ning disappear.”
