Chapter 167: Control
The next day, Saturday.
It was the time Jiang Ning and the others had agreed to go to the ancient temple together.
This morning, Jiang Ning threw the cup forcefully to the ground when taking it from the servant, and the splashing glass shards cut the servant’s cheek.
The thin red bloodstains reflected on the servant’s face. This time, she didn’t nod and bow but knelt directly on the ground begging for mercy: “Miss, next time I receive water, I definitely won’t take it so hot. Please don’t fire me.”
Jiang Ning came back to her senses. She actually subconsciously wanted to kick the servant hard again. Jiang Ning controlled herself and retreated a few steps, tripping on the stairs and sitting down hard on them.
The commotion below directly drew Father Jiang and Madam Jiang out.
Jiang Li came out of the room and looked down at the stairs on the first floor. Jiang Ning was sitting directly on the stairs.
She hurriedly ran down: “Ning Ning, what’s wrong with you?”
Jiang Ning used one hand to forcefully press down the other hand that wanted to push Jiang Li away, and smiled at Jiang Li: “I’m fine.”
Jiang Li keenly noticed that Jiang Ning’s smile was forced, and that pair of bright little deer eyes seemed shrouded in dark clouds.
Madam Jiang hurriedly came over and first looked at the servant: “What happened here?”
Because Jiang Ning had been too well-behaved lately, no one would suspect that Jiang Ning started it.
Madam Jiang said sternly: “Don’t think that just because the miss is easygoing, you can bully her like this. If you can’t do it, then leave the Jiang Family.”
The servant hurriedly shook her head. If she were fired, which wealthy family would want a servant with a record of being dismissed?
They just worked hard to support the whole family behind them.
She didn’t even dare to argue and could only agree: “Madam, I’ll be careful next time.”
She kept her head down, her eyes red, waiting for the judgment from the family heads.
Jiang Ning took a deep breath: “Mom, it’s not her fault. It’s my own problem. I’ll give you double salary this month as compensation, and don’t send me water anymore. I’ll pour it myself.”
Jiang Ning steadied her mindset until her hands and feet stopped feeling numb, then stood up: “I was just in a bad mood. I’ll go to the ancient temple to relax later and get a peace talisman for each of you.”
Jiang Ning patted Madam Jiang’s hand, then went upstairs.
Jiang Li looked at Jiang Ning’s back view with worry in her eyes and asked uncertainly: “Why do I feel like she’s acting a bit strange?”
Father Jiang pondered: “She does seem a bit off. Sigh, kids grow up and have their own worries. It’s fine. She’ll be okay after going out to have some fun. Probably just stressed from studying lately?”
After Father Jiang finished speaking, he went downstairs: “I’m heading to the company. Sigh, feels like this stock is really heading downhill. Losing it will cost us a lot…”
He muttered as he walked out.
Madam Jiang wasn’t too concerned about company matters, so she asked Jiang Li: “What about you? Still going to the capital city?”
Jiang Li nodded: “I’m leaving tomorrow. On Monday, I’ll make an appearance at a commercial event in the capital city and walk the red carpet.”
Madam Jiang nodded and looked at Jiang Li’s face, unable to hold back: “Be careful with your safety out there… Strike back only after ensuring your own personal safety first.”
Jiang Li softened her gaze: “I know. Thank you.”
Madam Jiang wanted to say something but ended up just stuffing a card to Jiang Li: “Lending this to you first. You’ll definitely need to spend money everywhere in the capital city. It’s not good to keep troubling Manager Meng.”
Jiang Li wanted to refuse, but Madam Jiang didn’t give her the chance and directly shoved it to her: “Take it and use it. I’m going to the company too. Your dad has been worrying about Jiang Yan these days and the company, not resting well. I’ll go supervise him to eat properly.”
The living room was empty.
Jiang Li saw the injured servant still cowering timidly to the side and said: “Go take care of the wound on your face first. Don’t be afraid. We won’t fire you.”
The servant finally breathed a sigh of relief, with tears in her eyes: “Thank you, Miss Jiang Li.”
Meanwhile, Jiang Ning was in the room, looking at the increasingly obvious changes in her body.
It was as if there was a latent soul in this body, fighting her for control of it. Jiang Ning didn’t know how long this situation would last.
She sighed, took a set of white casual sportswear from the closet, put on a small backpack, tied her hair into a high ponytail, and went out.
When she arrived at the meeting spot with the group.
They had almost all arrived.
From far away, Jiang Ning saw Wei Jin waving at her with a bright smile: “Jiang Ning, over here.”
Sui Tang also jumped up happily: “Cousin!”
Shen Jinhe was wearing a black leather jacket with her black hair loose, raising her eyebrows and beckoning to Jiang Ning: “Jiang Ning, come on.”
Wei Jin’s body was lazily leaning against the bus stop sign, wearing a black trench coat, sweatpants, and a pair of hiking sneakers, with a black baseball cap on his head.
The zipper of the trench coat was pulled all the way up. When he looked up, his sharp, pale chin was revealed.
Further up were gentle peach blossom eyes. Although he didn’t speak while looking at Jiang Ning, he still curved into a soft smile.
It was still this group of people.
Jiang Ning still spotted a somewhat familiar face in the crowd.
Her gaze turned to the gentle man smiling next to Sui Tang.
When the man saw Jiang Ning, he friendly waved at her: “Hi, we meet again.”
Jiang Ning searched her memory, and the face in front of her matched the one from the concert.
It was that Josen, who looked gentle and elegant but was wild and unrestrained in his music.
He Shang was standing to the side with a dark face, looking unhappy, next to Xie Jingyan, some distance from Sui Tang and the others.
Jiang Ning turned to Sui Tang and pointed at this suddenly appeared Josen, inquiring: “Why did you bring him?”
Sui Tang scratched her hair a bit embarrassed: “Didn’t I tell you? Josen was coming to Jin Cheng on Saturday, so I thought, since we’re just hanging out, I asked him. I didn’t expect Josen to push back his later work to come to the ancient temple with me. He said he’s wanted a peace talisman for a long time, so I brought him along too.”
After speaking, Sui Tang carefully watched Jiang Ning’s expression: “Cousin, you’re not angry, right?”
Jiang Ning: “…”
They’d already brought the person, so what was the point of asking if she was angry now?
Jiang Ning was almost amused by the anger.
She raised her eyebrow with a half-smile: “Then what if I am angry?”
Sui Tang was a bit awkward and was about to speak when Josen’s gentlemanly, gentle voice sounded: “I often hear Tang Tang mention you, saying you’re the cousin she admires the most and likes the most. I saw you from afar at the concert not long ago but didn’t get to know you. Now there’s a perfect opportunity. I’d really like to get to know Miss Jiang Ning, but if Miss Jiang Ning minds my presence, I’ll leave.”
Without waiting for Jiang Ning to speak, Sui Tang got anxious first: “Josen, if you leave, I won’t go to the ancient temple either. I’ll go with you.”
He Shang, at the very back, couldn’t hold back first: “Sui Tang, are you crazy? For this man you’ve only known for a month, you’re even abandoning Jiang Ning?”
