Chapter 190: This Is Too Cute!
Su Ran nestled in Hui’s embrace and slept another round of lazy sleep.
Because her original watch was broken, and it was raining outside with no sunlight at the moment, her homemade sundial couldn’t display the time either.
So when she opened her eyes again, she could only estimate that it should be around nine or ten in the morning.
Her belly was already rumbling.
Hui wasn’t awake yet, sleeping very soundly.
But when Su Ran got up, he still subconsciously wanted to pull Su Ran back into his embrace.
Su Ran lightened her movements, slowly moved Hui’s arm away, put on her clothes, then got out of bed and put on her shoes.
She first walked outside and opened the door, fresh air carrying water vapor rushed towards her face, and everything on the river beach stood still in the water curtain.
Su Ran looked up at the sky, the gray-white sky appearing dull and oppressive.
After so much rain, the fire should be completely extinguished by now!
Although she already knew the result clearly, not seeing it with her own eyes still made her heart feel a bit uneasy.
Su Ran pursed her lips, withdrew her gaze, and was just about to turn back into the house when she saw a pile of inexplicably appeared things at the house doorway.
That was a pile of fresh raw meat.
It looked like white-headed sheep neck, four-eared ox forelegs, red-skinned pork butt, half a dwarf deer, and a fish.
The amount of each raw meat wasn’t very large, but they were all very fresh, probably soaked in rainwater for a while, with blood water flowing all over the ground.
Su Ran stared at this pile of raw meat, where although each portion wasn’t large, but because there were many portions it piled up all over the ground, stunned for a second, then reacted that this was sent by the surrounding neighbors, return gifts for last night’s stewed beef and steamed dumplings.
This is too cute!
Su Ran smiled, went to the kitchen to get a large basin, and put all these things into the house.
Just right, today Hui was catching up on sleep, there wasn’t much left from yesterday, Su Ran was thinking otherwise she’d go to the small animal room behind to catch a few white wild chickens to kill…
The steamed dumplings made last night were all eaten, leaving four roasted green soap fruits and a small basin of stewed beef.
Su Ran looked at the fresh meat in the wooden basin, finally deciding to cook wontons to eat. She hadn’t eaten wontons for a long time, and just thinking about it made her a bit craving.
She put on the raincoat, took a small basket, came out of the house and walked towards the vegetable garden.
There were no spare finger onions at home, so she had to go to the vegetable garden to pick some fresh.
After a night of rain, the soil outside the house was soaked in muddy water, and stepping down was a foot of soft mud.
Especially in the vegetable garden behind, because vegetables were planted, the soil in the vegetable garden had been turned over and loosened, the further inside she walked, the deeper the soil under her feet sank.
Su Ran carried the small basket, while walking, thinking that when the rain stops, she must take advantage of the soil in the ground not yet dried by the sun, get some stones and bricks to pave a path.
Otherwise, the pitted ground in front of the house, one step one foot of mud, no need to even enter the house door, just sit at the doorway to clean the mud stuck on the feet!
Su Ran went around from the path on the right side of the house to behind the house, she conveniently went to the toilet first, then went to pick vegetables.
She carried the small basket to the place where finger onions were planted, quickly picked more than a dozen onions of similar size and put them into the basket. Then she went to the vegetable patch with wild cabbage, picked some wild cabbage leaves, then carried the basket back.
When circling over from behind the house, she saw Hui standing at the house doorway, holding an animal hide raincoat in his hand, looking like he wanted to put it on.
She hurriedly called out to it: “Hui!”
Hui heard her voice, snapped his head up to look over, and immediately put down the raincoat in his hand.
“Ran Ran~”
His eyes unblinking watched Su Ran approach, reached out to hug her, but Su Ran first shoved the basket in her hand to it.
Hui was stunned, but still reached out to take the basket.
Then, Su Ran stood under the eaves, first took off the animal hide raincoat on her body and hung it on the side of the door.
There were nails on both sides above the door, nailed up last winter to hang the wind-blocking door curtain, which now were just right to hang the raincoat.
After taking off the raincoat, Su Ran reached out to touch Hui’s arm, Hui saw it, a smile appeared on his dazed face, and immediately prepared to pick up Su Ran.
But Su Ran braced her hand on his arm
“Wait a moment…”
“Woo?”
Hui followed Su Ran’s downward gaze, and saw that on both of Su Ran’s shoes, each had a big clump of thick mud stuck.
Su Ran first stepped one foot on the other to take off one shoe. Then barefoot stepped on Hui’s instep, one hand holding Hui, bent down to take off the other shoe too, then stood up and reached to hug Hui’s neck: “Hui, go back inside first.”
She shook her two bare feet, and when Hui started walking while holding her, her two legs wrapped around Hui’s waist.
Hui directly carried Su Ran to the heated brick bed in the bedroom, and found shoes for her again.
Then, while lowering his head for the daily morning “cuddle” ritual, the belly that hadn’t eaten breakfast yet suddenly let out two “gurgle” sounds.
His action paused, the pointed ears on top of his head seemed to tremble, he lowered his eyes looking at Su Ran: “Ran Ran, what are we eating today?”
On a rainy day the light was dim to begin with, and at this time the window in the house wasn’t open either, so Su Ran didn’t see that this tall werewolf in front of her would actually blush because of his belly rumbling!
“Today we’re making something Hui hasn’t eaten before, and wrap a bit of steamed dumplings, okay?”
She put on the shoes and got down from the heated brick bed.
She wanted to eat wontons, but Hui had a big appetite, if wanting to fill up completely on wontons, that meal would have to be made enough for Hui, probably taking until noon, directly eating lunch!
So still need to wrap some bigger ones that wrap faster steamed dumplings, plus the leftover green soap fruits from yesterday, that would be enough.
“Hui, help me chop out the minced meat.”
Su Ran went to the kitchen, from the wooden basin containing the fresh meat sent by the beastmen, picked out a few pieces of red-skinned pork and put them separately into a wooden basin to give to Hui.
Hui was no longer unfamiliar with chopping minced meat, he picked up the wooden basin and walked to the long cutting board table propped up against the kitchen’s back window, put the wooden basin on the side of the table, took out a piece of meat from inside, and started chopping.
The steps for wrapping wontons and dumplings were similar, Su Ran wrapping herself didn’t care much if the wonton skins were thin enough, mainly to get the meal done as quickly as possible.
She first quickly kneaded the dough and set it aside to rest, then lit a fire under the pot in the west bedroom, first poured in the leftover stewed beef from yesterday to heat, then started making the filling.
Wontons and steamed dumplings used the same filling, Su Ran first chopped some finger onions, took a large star anise pod and chopped finger onions into a bowl, soaked in water, waiting to soak out the flavor.
Hui quickly chopped the red-skinned pork into meat paste, Su Ran beat in a few green-skinned eggs into the chopped red-skinned pork filling, then poured in the soaked onion star anise water, added oyster sauce, sea salt powder and mutton fat, finally added some crushed dried scallops, then started stirring.
