Chapter 134: Anti-magic Domain
The Javelin easily pierced the Black Dragon’s Scale Armor, with formidable power that no ordinary person could achieve.
‘This person must be an Advanced Professional!’
But the Black Dragon’s Size was enormous; stabbing it with a few Javelins and drawing some blood was far from enough to be lethal.
“Whoosh whoosh——”
Two Arrows landed successively on the Black Dragon’s back, clanging twice; one was deflected, the other barely embedded in the Dragon Scale, but no blood flowed.
The bowman looked at Derik and silently shook his head.
Derik raised the Greatsword in his hand; only a powerful Magic Weapon could break through the Dragon Scale.
Commander Moor did not approach and, seeing the situation, waved his hand: “Musketmen prepare to volley……”
“No!” Derik turned his head and scolded angrily, “Muskets can’t pierce Dragon Scale, but they’ll ruin its appearance. It can’t move anymore; bring the dragon-binding Chains quickly——”
Moor looked displeased; he was the overall commander. The original plan was to concentrate fire on the paralyzed Black Dragon and cripple it; how could the battle plan be changed casually.
But he did not flare up and instead immediately sent people to relay the order.
One by one, crates were opened, and sections of blue-purple Chains thicker than an adult’s arm were dragged out, pulled by the soldiers toward the Black Dragon.
Derik and his companions exchanged a quiet glance, assuming Combat Postures with flickering eyes.
As the soldiers approached, their faces turned pale one by one, then they collapsed vomiting uncontrollably, growing weaker with each heave; many could not even stand.
“Change people, quickly——” Commander Moor seemed to have anticipated this and immediately organized a second wave to advance.
However, the Result was the same.
The Black Dragon had vomited everywhere around it, mixing Acid, gastric juices, and some unknown Poison to form a natural isolation zone; not to mention ordinary people, even low-level Professionals could not linger.
Dozens or hundreds of people vomiting around the Black Dragon made Anse feel nauseous.
‘This Black Dragon……is very cunning.’
Seeing that Derik’s people had no intention of stepping forward, Moor grew angry in his heart and could only dispatch elite Professionals.
This time the Chains finally reached the Black Dragon’s leg; before they could Buckle, the Black Dragon suddenly opened its eyes, kicked away the Chains, stood up, spread its Dragon Wings, and spun horizontally on the spot.
A gale arose abruptly, dust filled the air; the Dragon Wings and Dragon Tail swept in a circle, sending countless Shadow Figures flying with endless screams of agony.
Whether ordinary soldiers or Professional elites, under such a frenzied attack, there was no difference: touched meant death, grazed meant maimed.
Moor could not afford to feel sorry for his subordinates and shouted loudly: “Open fire!”
Sporadic gunshots rang out, but the Black Dragon’s figure was already lost in the field.
A massive black Shadow crashed through the smoke and Miscellaneous items, abruptly appearing dozens of meters away, charging straight at Derik.
Derik’s expression changed drastically; something was wrong—how could the Black Dragon still launch such an intense pounce.
He did not dodge; red light flashed on his body as he charged forward with sword in hand.
The Dragon Claws swiped down but he dodged with a sidestep; the Greatsword swept horizontally, precisely slicing into the Black Dragon’s supporting leg, opening a wound several feet long with black blood spraying.
His spirits lifted greatly, and he roared: “It’s very weak; everyone, attack together.”
The dozen or so Professionals who came with him rushed up simultaneously.
“Roar——”
The Black Dragon opened its mouth in an angry roar, terrifying waves spreading out; most of the Professionals showed fear, dropped their Weapons, and fled in all directions.
The Black Dragon’s body was weak, but its “terrifying majesty” did not weaken, and the Fear effect remained powerful.
Derik wanted to take advantage to attack but was swept away by a strike from the agile Dragon Tail.
The Black Dragon opened its mouth and spat, shooting out a line of strong Acid over twenty meters long; it swung its head, sweeping the Breath toward the crowd, filling the sky with Acid and giving a feeling of nowhere to hide.
Derik rolled, pulled out a Javelin, turned, and flung it smoothly, accurately shooting into the dragon’s mouth.
The Black Dragon was in such pain that it interrupted its Breath; the unconstrained strong Acid sprayed everywhere instead.
Derik could not dodge in time and got a splash on his back; the Acid seeped through the gaps in his Armor, rotting his skin black and causing his eye corner to twitch in pain.
The surrounding soldiers reacted, and gunshots gradually intensified.
“Bang bang bang……”
Bullets slammed into the Dragon Scale one by one, producing dull metallic collision sounds; rarely did any Bullet penetrate the Dragon Scale, only causing the Black Dragon slight pain and fueling its growing rage and hatred.
It roared and leaped into the crowd, biting a soldier and swallowing him into its belly.
Derik’s squad did not stop it but took the opportunity to launch attacks, adding wound after wound to the Black Dragon’s body.
High in the sky, Anse overlooked the Battlefield with a faint smile; this was the scene he wanted.
The Black Dragon seemed weak, but each attack was extremely powerful; even that strongest Barbarian had to be on high alert, let alone ordinary people, who had almost no power to fight back.
In just this short time, the Amn Army suffered heavy casualties, including many Professionals.
But the Black Dragon was not faring well either, panting heavily with wounds all over, damaged Dragon Scale unable to block Bullets and Arrows, covered in blood, looking disheveled, and movements increasingly sluggish.
It glanced intentionally or unintentionally at Anse in the air several times, but Anse remained unmoved.
The Black Dragon was prey, not a true ally, and moreover, Black Dragons had no credibility; Cooperation was absolutely impossible.
Illyas saw the timing was ripe and immediately ordered the attack.
Quentin led the troops slowly approaching from over a thousand meters away, watching menacingly; everyone was tense, adjusting their breathing, awaiting the final command.
A quarter of an hour passed.
The Black Dragon’s leg was Buckled with Chains, the other end tied to the root of a Big Tree; it opened its mouth to bite, but the Chains were exceptionally Tough, and after several attempts it could not break them, instead getting its Dragon Wings injured in the process.
‘It has no strength left.’
The Amn Army had also suffered nearly half casualties, but with the Black Dragon chained, they finally did not have to flee everywhere.
‘It’s time!’
Anse gripped the Round Shield in his left hand, retracted the Butterfly Wings, and dove toward the Battlefield below.
Illyas saw this and signaled the total assault to Quentin, then piloted her Flying Carpet, closely following behind Anse.
“Teams six, seven, nine engage the enemy; teams three and four, keep an eye on them!” Moor, hiding in the crowd, pointed his Longsword at the rapidly approaching Anse.
The wind howled, mixing his Command and carrying it into Anse’s ears.
‘Heh, I’ll take you out first.’
He hovered in the air at 150 meters, Mana surging around him, rainbow ripples emanating in circles from his body.
“Eat my Fireball!”(Dragon Speech)
「Metamagic: Distant Spell」+「Fireball」!
The resounding Dragon Speech had just ended when a bright flash vanished at his fingertip, rapidly flying downward.
“Dodge quickly……” Moor did not expect himself to be the target and, seeing the danger, hid behind a Big Tree ahead of time.
Ordinary soldiers completely lacked such Reaction capability.
“Boom——”
A massive red-yellow Fireball exploded in the crowd, blazing Flames sweeping over, igniting human torches one by one; flesh charred, Trees burst into flame, with shrill screams and wails abrupt and brief, making hair stand on end.
Smoke and fire raged, heat waves rolled, carrying the stench and aroma of meat into the soldiers’ noses.
Many soldiers retched instinctively, fleeing while vomiting.
Masses of Experience Prompts flashed through Anse’s mind, at least several hundred; the Forest positions were scattered, or the effect would have been even more devastating.
“”
A few seconds later, another Fireball smashed into the crowd, Flames sweeping, over thirty people instantly turning into charred corpses amid spreading smoke and fire.
The soldiers’ mentality collapsed; they no longer dared to gather and scattered in all directions, their sporadic counterattacks unable to form a system.
Moor’s heart bled; he could no longer hold back and roared angrily at Derik: “What are you doing? Take him out first!”
Derik was secretly annoyed but could read the situation; he raised his hand pointing at Anse: “Archers take him out; everyone else, keep the Black Dragon occupied.”
“Whoosh whoosh——”
Two Arrows shot toward Anse simultaneously, fast and accurate, covering over a hundred meters in the blink of an eye.
Anse’s expression changed slightly; the Elemental Resonance of wind had just passed, so he hurriedly flapped the Butterfly Wings to climb, but Agility was inferior to land; he barely dodged one Arrow and raised his shield to block the other.
‘Such long Reach.’
Before he could rejoice, a bang sounded by his ear.
With a bang, the Arrow he had just dodged exploded; no Flame or Lightning, an invisible force field expanded, repelling Mana and forming a spherical Area over ten meters in diameter.
The King Butterfly Cloak immediately went limp, Butterfly Wings vanished, and Anse’s body plummeted from the air.
His heart tightened; he immediately cast Fly, but found Mana dispersed upon leaving his body, unable to produce any Magical Effect.
Anti-Magic Domain, potent Magic Vacuum Zone!
‘Fuck, they really came prepared.’
His body had just left the Area when another Arrow shot rapidly, exploding a few meters below his feet and forming another Anti-Magic Domain, clearly denying him any chance to cast.
Illyas piloted her Flying Carpet rushing over, reaching out to him from afar.
“Don’t come——” Anse waved forcefully, “I can handle it.”
Their gazes met; Illyas gritted her teeth, turned sharply in midair, barely dodging the incoming Arrow, and using her speed advantage, left the Anti-Magic Domain behind.
Anse breathed a sigh of relief; he was not afraid of the Anti-Magic Domain, but Illyas was; if she were hit and fell, it would be extremely dangerous.
He took advantage of the interruption in the Anti-Magic effect to cast Feather Fall on himself.
Although the Spell effect would be suppressed by the Anti-Magic Domain, it would activate immediately upon briefly leaving the Area, preventing him from being injured in the fall.
‘Let’s see how many Arrows you can shoot!’
Anti-Magic Domains are not common cabbages.
