Chapter 116: Someone Will Die
“Once it’s in our hands, how powerful can it be?” the hoarse voice sneered.
“Don’t be careless. If another accident happens, it will be difficult to remedy. Do you want to go through that again?” the sinister voice warned.
The hoarse voice fell silent.
Xia Chenge desperately tried to open her eyes, but she was still completely unable to move.
She had clearly heard them mention Xu Jingyi’s name just now. It was supposed to be the 21st century, without zombies! But why did the atmosphere here feel so much like the apocalypse? Where was she?
Just then, the sinister voice spoke again: “Her vital signs indicate she won’t live long. Let’s try number 1 first. If she dies, it won’t be a waste.”
Then Xia Chenge heard the sound of test tubes clinking. When she smelled that scent unique to zombies, Xia Chenge was struck by lightning.
Her whole body trembled, her mind suddenly cleared, and a powerful force instantly surged through her limbs.
Perhaps it was due to the stimulation from the drugs, instruments, and environment, but she had evolved ahead of schedule.
At that moment, Xia Chenge returned to her peak state from the apocalypse. The sense of confinement from this body vanished completely, giving her the urge to leap into the heavens.
Her hearing was a thousand times more acute than before; she could even clearly hear the sound of heartbeats.
And this place was like hell. Xia Chenge heard many sharp, agonizing screams, and even the low growls of zombies!
At the same time, the instruments monitoring her body suddenly emitted a piercing alarm.
The next moment, with a bang, all the instruments smoked and broke down.
“What’s going on?” the sinister voice asked in surprise. “Why did all the instruments break?”
“I don’t know either. They just exploded,” the hoarse voice replied, bewildered.
Xia Chenge suddenly opened her eyes.
The two men happened to look at her at the same time. Meeting her sharp, piercing gaze, they suddenly felt a chill in their hearts.
“How is she awake? Did you inject her with number 1?” The sinister voice belonged to a short, stout man, his face full of shock.
The other, a middle-aged man wearing glasses, held a syringe and shook his head, saying, “I haven’t injected her yet.”
Xia Chenge glanced at the syringe and feigned fear: “Wh-what are you doing? Hurry, let me go.”
She had too many questions that needed answers. She had to trick them into revealing what kind of place this was and why it was so similar to the apocalypse.
“Stop the nonsense. Inject her with number 1 first,” the short, stout man said expressionlessly, ignoring Xia Chenge’s ‘pleas’.
“If you have to blame someone, blame your bad luck,” the man with glasses sneered, raising the syringe to stab Xia Chenge’s arm.
Just then, an accident occurred. The metal buckle fastened to Xia Chenge’s hands and feet suddenly broke. In a flash, Xia Chenge was no longer on the bed.
“Where did she go?” the man with glasses exclaimed in astonishment.
The short, stout man was also dumbfounded. He rubbed his eyes; Xia Chenge on the bed had indeed vanished before their eyes.
“What are you looking for? Your grandma is right here!” Xia Chenge’s voice echoed from above them.
They spun around at the sound and saw Xia Chenge standing behind them on the instruments, a playful smile on her face, juggling two test tubes filled with liquid.
“Put that down!” the short, stout man cried in alarm, reaching out to snatch the test tubes.
Xia Chenge leaped again, landing on the other side. “If you want me to give it to you, that would be too easy, wouldn’t it? This liquid looks like good stuff. I wonder what would happen if I planted it on you?”
“Quick, catch that brat!” the short, stout man lunged forward, and the man with glasses followed, trying to apprehend Xia Chenge.
Xia Chenge played with them like a cat playing with a mouse. Every time they thought they were about to catch her, she would slip away like a fish in water, evading them again and again in the confined space.
The two men were soon exhausted by Xia Chenge’s antics. Pointing at her, they panted, “You, you just, just stand still, o-otherwise, don’t, don’t blame me for being rude!”
Xia Chenge glanced at them contemptuously. “Tell me honestly what this place is, or don’t blame me for being rude later. I have a thousand ways to make your lives worse than death.”
“Hmph, brat, do you think you can escape from here?” the man with glasses said, both angry and annoyed. Failing to catch a little girl was a serious blow to his pride.
“I never believe in evil!” Xia Chenge sneered. She looked coldly at the monitor in the room and pointed at it, saying, “Do you think hiding behind the monitor means I can’t do anything to you? Just you wait!”
With a flick of her hand, the camera shattered, falling to the floor in pieces.
Seeing this, the two men gasped: Who was this little girl?
The person behind the monitor was so startled by Xia Chenge’s sudden action that they fell off their chair, their mind filled with Xia Chenge’s sinister and cold gaze, sending shivers down their spine.
Xia Chenge was silent until she acted, but once she did, others had no room to resist.
In just a moment, the two men were tied to an iron bed. They couldn’t even struggle, let alone move.
Xia Chenge dangled the syringe the man with glasses had been holding in front of them, asking, “What adverse reactions do you think would occur if this were injected into you?”
“Y-you, don’t mess around!” the man with glasses was instantly terrified, his bowels loosening. “It, it could kill someone!”
“If you know it can kill someone, why were you going to inject me?” Xia Chenge asked with a cold smile. “What is this? If you don’t tell me, I’ll use you for an experiment to find out myself!”
“Brat, do you think you can leave here like this? Even if you kill us, you still can’t escape and will only suffer more. I advise you, let us go, and I’ll give you a quick end. Otherwise, when people arrive, you won’t have a chance!” The short, stout man, likely feeling this was his territory, was emboldened.
Xia Chenge glanced at the room door and asked calmly, “Isn’t there a monitor here? Five minutes have passed, why hasn’t anyone come yet?”
Reminded by Xia Chenge, the two men suddenly realized that since the incident, there had been no movement!
An invisible fear washed over them like a tide. They recalled the evaluations of Xia Chenge and were instantly petrified.
Seeing their ashen faces, Xia Chenge smirked mockingly.
She had locked the door. Unless it was destroyed, no one but her could open it!
Outside, chaos had erupted, but they couldn’t get in, and she had destroyed the monitor. Besides the three of them, no one knew the current situation here.
“Are you going to talk?” Xia Chenge applied a little force, and the needle pierced the man with glasses’ skin.
The man with glasses immediately began to shiver all over. “Don’t, don’t, I’ll talk, I’ll talk.”
“Shut up, or you won’t be the only one who dies!” the short, stout man roared.
“Don’t rush. One by one. If he dies, it will be your turn,” Xia Chenge said like a demon, waving the syringe near the man with glasses’ face. “Die early, be reborn early. Those who die late will be tormented in the eighteenth level of hell.”
Heh heh, those who said they were sending homework to Hua Lou, Hua Lou isn’t here, so I’m not afraid. I won’t write it anyway, hahaha.
